Put skills you want to use whenever ready lower in the stack, with a repeatable filler above them. Keep reactions and skills that need deliberate timing on separate keys. A Skill Macro is different: it attempts a configured series of actions, and its sequence is not guaranteed.
How skill priority works on a stacked quick slot
According to AllThingsHow’s guide, updated October 6, 2026, a quick slot can hold up to four active skills. When you press that slot’s key, the game checks the stack from the bottom upward. If the lowest skill is ready and its conditions are met, it fires; the game does not then cycle through the skills above it. If that skill is cooling down or cannot be used under the current conditions, the game may select the next available skill above it. Read the guide’s explanation of Aion 2 skill priority.

This means position communicates priority: lower skills get the first chance, while higher skills can cover periods when lower ones are unavailable. Treat the behavior as current secondary-source guidance and verify it in your client if a game update changes it.
What to put in the stack—and what to keep separate
- Lower positions: Put a cooldown skill or a skill with a condition that you want checked first. The game can use it when available.
- Higher positions: Add a suitable repeatable filler to cover times when a lower skill cannot be used.
- Separate keys: Keep a defensive response, a heal you may need to hold, a buff you want to synchronize, or a charged attack that needs chosen timing under direct control.
There is no universal “best” named skill order established for every class or activity. Your class, the skill’s current tooltip, and whether you are fighting in PvE or PvP all matter. NCSOFT’s March 25, 2026 announcement described class balance adjustments, new Stigma skills, and separate PvP and PvE damage calculations, so an order that suits one mode or patch should not be assumed to suit another. Set up a priority stack step by step
- Choose the context. Decide which class and activity the key is for; do not copy another class’s or mode’s order without checking what its skills require.
- Read each candidate skill’s tooltip. Note its cooldown, resource cost, and activation conditions. A skill that is not usable under the current conditions cannot serve the role you expect.
- Place the first-priority skill low. Put a skill you want checked whenever it is ready in a lower position, then place a suitable repeatable filler above it.
- Move timing decisions to their own keys. Keep actions that depend on your judgment out of the automatic stack.
- Test one change at a time. Against a consistent target, check whether the intended skill fires and whether you can still move and react comfortably. For damage comparisons, keep the target and setup consistent; a damage number alone does not measure support value or successful encounter mechanics.

How a Skill Macro differs from a priority stack
A priority stack chooses among skills assigned to one quick-slot key. A Skill Macro instead attempts stages in a configured sequence. It is not a guaranteed fixed rotation: manual input takes priority, and a configured stage may not produce the expected action. Learn and test the actions manually before adding them to a macro. If a stage fails, simplify the sequence and isolate the action before adding more stages or changing delays.

Troubleshoot a skill that does not fire
Check the skill’s requirements before rebuilding the whole setup. Follow this order:
- Read the skill tooltip again and confirm its activation condition.
- Check that the current target, resource level, and cooldown allow the skill to be used.
- Confirm that the expected skill and quick-slot arrangement are in the active preset.
- Try the skill manually. If it does not work by itself, the stack or macro is unlikely to be the underlying problem.
- For a macro, shorten the sequence until the failing stage is clear, then test the actions before rebuilding.
Different classes can have follow-up skills with different requirements, so a sequence that works for one setup may fail in another. The PC guide also describes an in-game damage-measurement window, but damage readings do not capture every support role or encounter responsibility.
