NCSoft says Aion 2 passed 400,000 peak concurrent users when its global service began on October 5, 2026. That is a publisher-reported launch peak—not an independently audited count—and it shows a large opening without proving the game ranks among 2026’s most-played titles overall.
What does Aion 2’s 400,000-player figure mean?
In an October 6 announcement, NCSoft said: “With the start of global service, the peak number of concurrent users surpassed 400,000.” The statement describes the highest number of users playing at the same time during the global launch period. The number is evidence of a major launch by concurrent-player scale, but it does not establish an annual ranking against other games. Nor does a peak show how many players remained later or whether launch traffic was sustained.

NCSoft dates the global service start to October 5, 2026 (local date). The PC game is distributed through Steam and NCSoft’s PURPLE platform, with servers in North America, South America, Europe, and Asia (Japan). How should the launch figure be compared with Steam’s live count?
When accessed on October 7, Steam’s community page showed 267,465 players “In-Game.” That is a changing, point-in-time Steam display, while NCSoft’s 400,000-plus figure is a reported peak concurrent-user count for the global launch and has no stated platform breakdown. What kind of MMO is Aion 2?
Steam describes Aion 2 as a PC MMORPG featuring aerial combat and faction warfare. Its store page says the world is 36 times larger than the original game and lists more than 200 dungeons, including solo challenges and content for groups of five or ten. NCSoft also said the title led Steam’s global Top Sellers chart during early access and ranked first in Steam’s Popular New Releases and Trending Free charts as of October 6.
