Flight and gliding do different jobs
Flight: active aerial movement
NCSOFT Taiwan’s official guide describes flight as an aerial movement mode. Its listed default control is V to start or end flight, and it says the normal ground movement style applies in the air. Shift accelerates flight, and the guide says you can attack and gather while flying. That makes flight the better fit when you need to steer toward a target, follow a route, or do an activity that requires flight.

Gliding: controlled descent
The same guide describes gliding as a slow descent, not as a way to climb. Holding forward (W in the guide’s default key description) increases speed, while Shift gives a temporary speed increase. Use it when you are already airborne and want to manage your descent rather than make active progress toward a destination.
Which mode should you use?

This is a practical distinction, not a measured performance ranking: the available evidence does not establish a reliable numeric advantage for gliding over flight in distance, speed, or resource efficiency.

Manage the shared meter before switching
Flight and gliding share a cooldown and meter, and both consume that meter. The official guide says switching between modes is immediate, but switching does not remove the shared resource limit. If the meter runs out, your character can fall, so start looking for a landing before depletion rather than relying on a last-second mode change.
- Use flight while you need active movement or flight-specific actions.
- When you have enough height and want to descend more slowly, switch to gliding.
- Watch the shared meter in either mode and land with some reserve.
Check controls and timing in your current version
NCSOFT Taiwan’s official guidebook, updated November 18, 2025, cautions that some details may differ from the game. Treat V, W, and Shift as the guide’s default control descriptions, not guaranteed bindings for every client. Check your in-game key bindings and regional patch notes for current controls and tuning.

An unofficial playtest account updated September 29, 2026, reports flight durations of about 15 seconds early on and around 20 seconds after an early wing progression step, plus about 10 minutes of recovery in a race context. Those are community observations, not official or universal settings, so they are not a dependable basis for planning every flight. A secondary guide updated September 19, 2026, also discusses PC controls and endurance recovery, but does not replace the official guide or your current client’s information.
