Choose your Aion 2 class by the role and combat style you want—not by an assumed universal tier list. For the global roster, the available references list eight classes; NCSoft’s initial descriptions point to Templar for tanking, Spiritmaster for solo-oriented play, and Chanter for support, while the other classes offer distinct melee, ranged, and damage identities. Those descriptions are starting points, not proof of current rankings.
Which classes are on the Aion 2 roster?
NCSoft’s June 2025 overview introduced eight classes: Gladiator, Templar, Assassin, Marksman, Sorcerer, Spiritmaster, Cleric, and Chanter. Later references use Ranger for Marksman and list eight classes for the global version. A separate reference reports nine classes in Korea and Taiwan after the regional addition of Brawler. Check which client and region you play before relying on a class list. NCSoft’s official AION 2 site is the starting point for regional information.

The available descriptions help distinguish class identities, but they do not establish a controlled comparison of current performance or party roles for every activity. Use them to narrow your choice by range, responsibility, and preferred combat feel.

| Class | What the description suggests | Consider it if you want |
|---|---|---|
| Templar | NCSoft calls it the “Core tanking role.” | To take the clearest tank-focused identity. |
| Gladiator | NCSoft describes “Powerful, wide-area skill attacks.” | A melee identity centered on broad attacks; the description alone does not settle its current group role or performance. |
| Assassin | NCSoft calls it a “Precision-based melee specialist.” | Close-range combat with a precision-focused identity. |
| Ranger (initially Marksman) | The initial English overview presents it as a long-range scout; later global references use Ranger. | A ranged identity rather than melee combat. |
| Sorcerer | NCSoft describes “High burst magic damage.” | Magic damage with a burst-focused identity. |
| Spiritmaster | NCSoft calls it “Optimized for solo play.” | A class presented as solo-oriented, while recognizing that this is not proof it is currently the strongest solo option. |
| Cleric | NCSoft highlighted improved damage capability in the initial overview; that does not establish its current healer/damage balance. | A class whose precise current balance you should verify for your region and version. |
| Chanter | NCSoft describes “A versatile support role with multiplayer utility.” | To contribute a support-oriented identity in multiplayer. |
Descriptions in the table are from NCSoft’s initial official class overview; the later Marksman/Ranger and regional roster details come from current class references. These identity cues are not a present-day tier list.
How to make your choice
- Pick your preferred range. Decide whether you want to fight in melee or at long range. Templar, Gladiator, and Assassin are the clearest melee identities in the initial descriptions; Ranger is framed as a long-range scout.
- Choose your party responsibility. Templar is explicitly tank-focused, while Chanter is described as support. If you prefer damage, consider the burst-oriented Sorcerer or the wide-area attack identity of Gladiator, without treating those descriptions as a ranking.
- Account for solo play. Spiritmaster is the class NCSoft’s initial overview specifically positions for solo play. That is a useful fit signal, not a guarantee of top solo performance after later balance changes.
- Check the class names and roster for your region. The initial English name Marksman appears as Ranger in later global references, and Korea and Taiwan have been reported to include Brawler. Do not assume every client has the same roster.
- Choose the identity you will enjoy playing. The official descriptions do not provide a current, controlled comparison across classes, modes, and regions. If two options appeal, prioritize the combat style and party responsibility you want rather than an undated ranking.
Why an Aion 2 tier list can go stale
NCSoft announced a comprehensive class rebalance on March 25, 2026, alongside new Stigma skills for every class, a maximum of five Stigma slots, and separate PvP and PvE damage calculations. That dated update is a reminder that early class descriptions cannot establish current class strength across modes. NCSoft’s March 25, 2026 announcement describes those changes.
When consulting a tier list, check that it identifies its region, game mode, build or version, and publication date. A ranking without those details cannot be treated as definitive for every player or activity.
