Start by choosing the faction and class that suit you, then follow the game’s onboarding and story prompts. Use those first hours to learn movement and manual combat, try accessible PvE when it becomes available, and improve your character as activities reward gear and other progression. You do not need a supposedly perfect class or an unverified leveling route to get started.
What should you do first in AION 2?
- Choose your faction and class. Pick based on the character and combat style you want to play, rather than a claim that one option is universally strongest.
- Follow onboarding and story prompts. Let the game introduce its controls and activities; try newcomer-oriented difficulty options if they are available in your version.
- Practice movement and combat. Learn how flight, positioning, and manual attacks work before treating movement as just a way to get from one place to another.
- Try PvE activities as they open up. Use them to practice mechanics and earn activity rewards; do not assume a particular activity or reward is available at a specific level.
- Upgrade with the next activity in mind. Improve gear and build systems as needed, but avoid sinking disproportionate effort into early equipment that may soon be replaced.
These are practical starting priorities, not a verified fastest route. Available content, class names, and difficulty options can vary by build or region, so use the live game and the official site for current details.

Choose a faction and class by preference
NCSOFT’s June 2025 preview described two factions, Elyos and Asmodians, each with a separate starting region, and listed eight playable classes at that time. Treat those as dated preview details rather than a guarantee of the current roster or labels; check the character-creation screen in your version before committing.

The preview’s role descriptions can help you think about play style, but they are not current balance rankings. For example, NCSOFT described Templar as a tank, Spiritmaster as suited to solo play, Chanter as support, and Sorcerer as a burst-magic class. A fan guide uses the name Ranger where that preview says Marksman, another reason to follow the live in-game class name instead of assuming terminology is unchanged.
Consider whether you prefer close-range durability, ranged attacks, support, or spell damage, and whether you expect to play mostly alone or with others. Choose a class whose role sounds enjoyable; the available evidence does not establish an objectively best beginner class or current meta.
Learn through onboarding, story, and movement
Follow the prompts before chasing efficiency
Use onboarding and story guidance to learn the basic loop and discover which activities your character can access. NCSOFT’s preview presented Easy Mode instance dungeons as newcomer-friendly. That supports trying accessible difficulty options when offered, but it does not establish current unlock levels or guarantee that the same mode is available in every region or build.

Practice flight and manual combat
NCSOFT highlighted flight and underwater exploration as part of AION 2’s world design and called attention to manual combat and hit confirmation. Pay attention to how movement affects positioning and attacks; flight is presented as part of exploration and combat, not merely transit. No particular combat setup or technique is established here as optimal.
Use PvE to learn activities and earn rewards
The official AION 2 Japan site describes Expeditions as dungeons for up to five players and names Krao Cave, Urugugu Canyon, Fire Temple, and Draupnir. These are official examples of group PvE, not a claim that every new character can enter them immediately. Follow the availability shown in your version rather than relying on an assumed level requirement.

As you try activities, notice what each one teaches and what rewards it offers. Treat a group dungeon as a place to learn cooperation and mechanics as well as a source of progression; do not assume a listed activity guarantees a particular item or upgrade.
How AION 2 progression fits together
Progression is broader than character level. A useful mental model from an unofficial fan guide is a repeating loop: complete available content, collect its rewards, improve enough to tackle the next tier, and repeat. It is an explanatory framework, not an official taxonomy or tested optimal route.

Launch notices are market-specific. NCSOFT announced a November 19, 2025 launch in Korea and Taiwan, while the official Japan-language site lists October 5, 2026. Those notices do not establish availability in every country. Check the official site for the market and version relevant to you.

What is the biggest beginner mistake?
There is no verified single mistake that applies to every new player. A cautious one to avoid is over-investing in early gear: the unofficial AION 2 World beginner guide says early equipment can be replaced quickly, but it does not provide a tested timetable or a universal spending rule. Keep upgrades proportional to your current needs, learn the game’s systems first, and make larger commitments when you understand what they support.
