This guide focuses on the launch-era English service announced for October 5, 2026; class names, access rules, rewards, and balance can differ by region and change with updates, so confirm them in your client. NCSoft’s English teaser site announced that launch date.
Choose a class by how you want to fight
There is no evidence-based permanent “best class” to recommend. Your results depend on balance changes, encounters, equipment, latency, and the needs of the group you play with. Use class descriptions as an initial orientation, then check the current regional client’s class information before committing.
NCSoft’s May 2025 pre-launch list named eight classes. In July 2026, the publisher announced Brawler as an additional class. Those dated announcements are not a definitive roster for every live region or patch; verify the names and availability shown in your client.

The descriptions in this table summarize NCSoft’s May 2025 pre-launch overview and July 2026 Brawler update. They are not a current performance ranking.

Use role and range to narrow the choice
- Pick a responsibility: Decide whether you most enjoy tanking, healing or support, or dealing damage. The dated descriptions identify Templar as a tank and Chanter as support, but consult the client for current group expectations.
- Pick a range: If you want to be near enemies, look first at melee-oriented descriptions such as Assassin or Brawler. For distance, Marksman is explicitly described as long-range.
- Consider how visible you want your contribution to be: Direct damage and tanking are easy to frame as immediate combat jobs; support may involve benefits that matter across a group rather than only a damage number.
- Think about where you play: A class described around solo play may appeal if you spend much of your time alone, while tank and support responsibilities can matter in organized groups. These labels do not guarantee solo ease or a place in every party.
What to expect from combat
NCSoft’s 2025 pre-launch overview described AION 2 combat as manual and stated that the game would have no auto-combat. That is the right starting expectation: be prepared to control your character and respond to fights rather than treating combat as an automatic progression system. Check the regional service’s current controls and settings for details.
Brawler offers one concrete illustration of how an individual class can work: NCSoft’s July 2026 announcement said basic attacks and active skills generate Rage, and reaching a threshold triggers Rampage. That is a Brawler-specific mechanic, not a universal rule for other classes. Learn your own class’s resource, skill, and defensive tooltips in the client rather than assuming the same loop applies to everyone.

NCSoft’s August 2025 showcase described solo activities including Nightmare Dungeon, Seal Dungeon, Garrison, and Awakening Battle; party activities including Expedition, Transcendence, Eradication, and Sanctuary; and PvP modes including Arena, Battlefield, Rift, and Abyss. These are dated feature descriptions, not a complete or guaranteed current activity list. Check the live service menus for modes available in your region and patch.
A flexible route through early progression
Use the main questline for direction, and add nearby activities when they fit your route. An independent beginner guide reviewed on August 19, 2026 recommends following Episode quests while completing relevant Region content along the way. It also advises learning movement and combat before spending scarce upgrade materials. Treat this as practical guidance, not an official fixed leveling route: exact quest rewards and progression systems can change.

- Start with the Episode quest line. Use its objectives to orient yourself and unlock the next parts of your journey.
- Check nearby Region activities. If an activity is relevant and convenient, consider doing it alongside the main route. The independent guide says official quest guidance connects optional regional activity with progression, but exact rewards should be checked in the current client.
- Practice movement and defense as you level. Get comfortable controlling your character and using defensive timing before leaning on upgrades to solve encounters.
- Keep inventory manageable. The independent guide recommends organizing inventory as part of progression; review item descriptions and clear or sort items regularly so useful rewards are easier to spot.
- Read dungeon details before entering. Check the current entry conditions and rewards in the client rather than relying on an old list or assuming a dungeon is available to your character.
Spend upgrade materials carefully
Early equipment may be replaced as you progress, so the independent beginner guide advises against heavy early investment in gear that is likely to be short-lived. That does not establish a universal upgrade stopping point: the right choice depends on the items, materials, and systems available in your current client. Before spending, inspect the equipment and upgrade screens and decide whether the immediate benefit is worth using a scarce resource.
Do not plan around a fixed reward table from older coverage. Check the live quest and dungeon panels for current rewards, conditions, and any associated progression materials.
Choose a faction with your region’s rules in mind
NCSoft’s May 2025 pre-launch material described Elyos and Asmodians as starting in separate regions and later entering faction conflict. This supports treating faction as an early starting-location and social choice, but it does not establish every current restriction or group rule for the English launch service. Confirm available factions, starting details, and whether cross-faction grouping is allowed in your regional client before coordinating a character choice with friends.

NCSoft’s July 6, 2026 update is useful context, not an immediate beginner checklist: it raised the level cap to 50, allowed Stigma skills to be enhanced to level 25, added Morheim for Asmodians and Eltnen for Elyos, and introduced Sealed Dungeons, Strongholds, and Monoliths as sources of progression rewards. It also set level 50 and item level 3,500 as requirements for the newly introduced Citadel of the Fallen Daeva and Abyssal Horn Den. Those requirements describe that update’s content; check current patch notes and dungeon panels before planning toward them.

For further historical context, NCSoft’s August 2025 showcase discussed its content roadmap and systems. Producer Namjoon Kim said, “The Trade system enables players to exchange items using in-game currency instead of premium currency. After careful consideration, we designed this system to offer the most enjoyable experience for players.” This is the developer’s statement from its August 12, 2025 press release, not a substitute for checking the current client’s trading rules.
