Organizations are using AI in recruiting for specific jobs: finding candidates, screening applications, improving job-ad language, scheduling interviews, and processing background checks. Eight reported deployments show where the tools fit and what outcomes their publishers say followed. The figures are case-study results—not independent proof that AI alone caused the changes, and they are not directly comparable.
Eight examples of AI in HR and recruiting
The cases below span sourcing through candidate processing. Most figures come from AIHR’s roundup of company or vendor case studies; AIHR’s publication date is not stated in the accessed page. Treat them as reported outcomes, not audited benchmarks.

AIHR’s case summary cites hireEZ. It does not define “qualifier” or specify the basis for the engagement comparison, so those percentages should not be treated as standardized recruiting measures. |
Thrive: screening and structured interviewsThe career-transition services firm used Ribbon.ai for screening, assessment automation, and structured interviews. |
AIHR reports an 80% reduction in time to hire, a 30% increase in new-hire quality, and 50% greater hiring-manager confidence. Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Animal-welfare organization: job advertising and niche sourcingNAS Recruitment Innovation used Joveo to automate job postings, reach niche publisher networks for specialized roles such as licensed veterinarians, and monitor recruitment cost and performance. The accessible case summary does not name the organization. |
AIHR reports 34% lower overall recruitment spending, 150% more qualified applications, and a 46% drop in cost per application within six months. Rank #2

T-Mobile: job-ad wordingT-Mobile integrated Textio language analytics and recommendations into its recruiting job postings. |
AIHR reports 17% more female applicants and five fewer days to fill. |
The case summary cites Textio. It does not establish that wording recommendations alone caused the applicant mix or time-to-fill changes. |
Walmart: skills-based assessmentFor large-scale hiring—around 17,000 new associates annually in the case description—Walmart used Vervoe video prompts, scenario tasks, and AI grading in place of manual résumé screening. The assessment automated part of screening; it does not mean the tool made every final hiring decision. Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants: background checksKimpton selected Checkr for a workflow handling roughly 5,000–6,000 background checks each year. The described system combines AI-powered criminal background screening, an analytics dashboard, and a mobile candidate portal. |

MM Group: a multi-country talent platformDuring acquisition integration, MM Group deployed Eightfold’s talent platform across 22 sites, 11 countries, and seven languages to integrate more than 3,500 employees and streamline hiring. |
AIHR reports a 42% decrease in time to hire and an approximately 30% increase in applicant rate. |
This was a broader talent-platform deployment in an acquisition context, not an isolated evaluation of a recruiting model. |
What these deployments show about AI’s role
The examples are not eight versions of the same “AI recruiter.” They put automation or recommendations at different points in the hiring journey:
- Expand or reactivate candidate pools: BrightSpring’s sourcing and outreach workflow and the animal-welfare organization’s niche advertising addressed candidate discovery.
- Structure or accelerate screening: Thrive’s structured interviews and Walmart’s skills-based assessments changed how applicants were evaluated, while leaving room for human judgment.
- Improve the application experience: T-Mobile applied language analysis to job ads; Chipotle used a multilingual assistant for candidate questions and scheduling.
- Move adjacent processes faster: Kimpton’s example concerns background-check workflow, while MM Group’s platform supported broader talent operations during acquisition integration.
A separate Workday announcement dated 1 August 2024 offers another example of candidate rediscovery: AdventHealth said HiredScore AI helped it hire more than 1,000 clinical candidates from its existing database in the first year and cut hiring-manager decision time by 40%. Workday’s announcement quotes AdventHealth’s senior HR leader; it is a company announcement, not an independent evaluation.

Do the reported results mean AI makes hiring faster?
Some case reports describe shorter hiring timelines, but they do not establish a general speed advantage for AI. The cases use different baselines, roles, populations, time periods, and definitions of success. A time-to-hire change at one employer cannot be fairly ranked against a change at another without knowing how each measured the clock, what jobs were included, and what else changed in the process.
Broader survey findings are also indicators of adoption and reported benefit, not proof of a universal outcome. In a 2024 CHRO survey reported in a 2025 article, BCG said 70% of companies experimenting with AI or generative AI were doing so within HR, and talent acquisition was HR’s leading use case; the cited excerpt does not give the sample details. In a 2025 article, BCG reported that 92% of firms said they were already seeing benefits and that more than 10% reported productivity gains above 30%. Those are BCG-reported survey responses, not a guarantee for a particular employer.
BCG also reported that 52% of candidates in its survey of 90,000 people across 160 countries would decline an otherwise attractive offer after some type of negative recruiting experience. That makes speed only one measure of success: an automated process that is confusing, inaccessible, or unfair can damage the candidate experience it is meant to improve.
How to assess an AI recruiting deployment
Compare a proposed system with the actual process it would change—not with a vendor’s headline percentage. Before procurement, write down the task, the decision owner, the intended benefit, and how you will measure both candidate and employer outcomes.
- Define the stage and task. Is the tool sourcing, ranking, assessing, communicating, scheduling, or screening backgrounds? Avoid treating these distinct uses as one category.
- Set the baseline and denominator. Ask which roles and applicants are counted, what comparison period is used, how “qualified,” “quality,” or “engagement” is defined, and whether the result is recurring or one-time.
- Separate automation from recommendation. Identify what the system does automatically, what it recommends, and which decisions remain with a trained person. Make sure staff understand the limits of the output.
- Test in the real hiring environment. The UK Department for Science, Innovation and Technology’s 25 March 2024 guidance recommends testing performance in the buyer’s real-world setting and against the protected-characteristic makeup of the relevant population before scaling.
- Check accessibility and fairness. Plan reasonable adjustments for applicants with disabilities, examine potential bias and digital exclusion, and offer a usable route for applicants to correct information or seek review.
- Assess candidate experience. Tell candidates where AI is used and what role it plays. Track completion and responsiveness alongside complaints, drop-offs, accessibility issues, and outcomes across relevant groups.
- Build governance before launch. The UK guidance recommends an impact assessment before procurement and again before deployment, alongside meaningful staff training and effective human oversight. Its regulatory principles include safety and robustness, transparency and explainability, fairness, accountability and governance, and contestability and redress. This is government guidance, not legal advice.
BCG similarly recommends candidate-first design, clarity about AI’s role and human oversight, transparency with candidates, bias audits, and recruiter training. These safeguards matter whether a tool ranks applicants or simply handles routine messages: the consequences depend on how the employer configures and governs it.
What to ask a vendor before relying on a case-study result
- What is the metric’s exact definition, denominator, role mix, and comparison period?
- Were the figures measured by the employer, the vendor, or a third party, and can the underlying method be reviewed?
- What candidate outcomes and group-level breakdowns were examined, and what was the process for correcting errors or contesting an outcome?
- Which workflow steps are automated, and who is accountable for reviewing recommendations and adverse outcomes?
- How will the system be tested against the employer’s own data, roles, accessibility needs, and applicable local requirements before wider deployment?
The eight cases are useful as a map of possible applications, not as a vendor league table. Their reported results are too different in scope and measurement to identify one best tool or prove that AI itself produced the gains.
