In India, documented examples span fresh-produce quality analysis, agricultural services, satellite imagery and industrial drone inspection—but the available official sources do not support a defensible ranking of the country’s “top” AI-and-IoT companies by market share, revenue, deployments or customer outcomes.
What AI adds to IoT
IoT systems collect information from connected sensors, equipment and other data sources. AI can help interpret that information: classify an event, flag an unusual reading, estimate a developing condition or give a person a more useful basis for action. The value is not simply having more connected devices; it is using their data to support a decision.

That distinction matters when assessing examples. Some initiatives explicitly combine AI and IoT. Others use AI on satellite or drone imagery, or provide an AI service without documented IoT integration. They may illustrate the wider shift toward data-led decisions, but should not all be labelled AIoT deployments.
Why a ranked “top companies” list is not supported
Government sources identify organizations and initiatives working in relevant areas, but they do not provide comparable current figures for AIoT revenue, market share, deployment counts or independently verified customer outcomes. The examples below are therefore best understood as illustrations of applications, not as a ranked list of leaders.

The evidence also varies by example: some sources explicitly describe an AI-powered IoT solution, while others describe AI applied to a particular data source or service. That difference is important when comparing what each example demonstrates.
Documented examples across sectors
Q-scan: fresh-produce quality analysis
The Press Information Bureau describes Q-scan as an AI-powered IoT solution that captures critical data through the fresh-produce lifecycle, analyzes food quality in real time and provides sellers with actionable insights. It is the clearest documented example here of AI and IoT being described together. The source does not establish performance results, customer outcomes or deployment scale. Press Information Bureau

SatSure: satellite imagery and Earth Observation
A March 2026 Government of India startup list describes SatSure as using satellite imagery and AI for Earth Observation decision intelligence. This connects AI with remote sensing, which can inform decisions about areas such as agriculture or infrastructure. The description does not establish a specific IoT product or demonstrate market leadership. Press Information Bureau

VolarAlta: AI-enabled industrial drone inspection
The same government startup list describes VolarAlta as providing drone-based AI solutions for industrial inspections. This is an example of AI applied to inspection imagery. Drones can serve as connected data-collection platforms, but the cited description does not explain VolarAlta’s communications architecture, so it does not by itself verify an IoT deployment. Kisan e-Mitra: multilingual farmer support
A Government of India document describes Kisan e-Mitra as a voice-based, multilingual AI chatbot that answers questions about PM-Kisan, the Kisan Credit Card and crop-insurance schemes. At the document’s reporting point, it handled over 20,000 queries daily and had responded to more than 95 lakh farmer inquiries. It supports 11 Indian languages. These are service figures, not evidence that the chatbot is integrated with IoT sensors. Government of India document
National Pest Surveillance System: early pest and disease detection
The same government document says the National Pest Surveillance System launched on 15 August 2024 and uses AI and machine learning for early detection of pests and crop diseases. The cited description does not establish sensor integration, so it is an AI-based agricultural surveillance example rather than confirmed proof of an IoT deployment. Government of India document

What the examples show—and what they do not
| Example | Sector and job | Documented data source or method | What the evidence establishes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Q-scan | Fresh produce; analyze quality and inform sellers | Lifecycle data captured by an AI-powered IoT solution | Real-time quality analysis and actionable insights are described; scale and outcomes are not established. |
| SatSure | Earth Observation decision intelligence | Satellite imagery and AI | The government list describes this activity; a specific IoT product or market position is not established. |
| VolarAlta | Industrial inspection | Drone-based AI solutions | AI-enabled inspection is described; the source does not detail connectivity or verify an IoT architecture. |
| Kisan e-Mitra | Farmer questions about government schemes | Voice-based multilingual AI chatbot | Language coverage and service-volume figures are reported; IoT integration is not established. |
| National Pest Surveillance System | Earlier detection of pests and crop disease | AI and machine learning | Launch date and detection role are reported; sensor integration is not established. |
These examples should not be compared as if they measured the same thing. One is explicitly described as an AI-powered IoT solution; others apply AI to imagery or provide a digital service. The cited sources do not offer uniform adoption or outcome measures.
India’s AI ecosystem is context, not proof of IoT performance
The Union Cabinet approved the IndiaAI Mission in March 2024 with a five-year outlay of ₹10,371 crore. Its seven pillars cover compute capacity, foundation models, AIKosh, application development, FutureSkills, startup financing, and Safe & Trusted AI. The mission is intended to build AI capacity and an ecosystem; its approval and funding do not measure the performance of any particular IoT company. Press Information Bureau

Security and deployment considerations
Connected devices can create practical value only if their data is dependable and systems remain secure and usable in their operating conditions. For deployments, relevant questions include whether devices can communicate reliably, whether the data is good enough to support the intended decision, and how access to devices and information is protected.
India’s Telecom Engineering Centre lists a Code of Practice for Securing Consumer Internet of Things (IoT), Release 2.0, dated 28 November 2025. Its report index also lists Industry 4.0: The Future of Smart Manufacturing, dated 30 June 2025, and an agriculture digital-transformation report dated 18 March 2024. These are useful official references for security and deployment design; their presence on the index does not show that any company named above follows the guidance.
