For a budget-conscious Indian creator streaming prerecorded video around the clock, compare the full monthly cost and operating work—not just a provider’s headline price. StreamNeo is the first managed option to consider: it keeps an uploaded-video YouTube stream running from the cloud, supports the quality you upload up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, and offers a free first day. A VPS can cost less in some configurations but makes you responsible for setup, monitoring and recovery; cloud-media APIs bill by resources and can become costly when outputs and distribution are included.
What to compare before choosing a service
A 24/7 prerecorded stream needs a source video or playlist, an encoder or managed playback service, a reliable connection to YouTube, and a plan for what happens if the stream stops. Compare options against the same workload: one YouTube channel, continuous playback for a full month, your intended resolution and frame rate, and the storage needed for your files.
- Total recurring cost: Include taxes, currency conversion, storage, transfer or egress, IPv4 where relevant, add-ons and renewal terms.
- Quality and limits: Check resolution, frame rate, bitrate, source-file handling and whether a plan caps output.
- Concurrency: Confirm how many channels and simultaneous streams are included.
- Administration: Identify who installs and maintains the encoder, playlist, server and restart process.
- Recovery and visibility: Look for reconnect behavior, logs, alerts and support scope. Provider claims are not independent proof of full-month performance.
- Network path: Region and route to YouTube affect practical stream health; do not treat a “low latency” marketing claim as a reliability guarantee.
Prices and plan details below are vendor-published or dated reference figures, not a like-for-like performance test. Indian taxes, exchange rates, renewal terms and data policies can change the amount you actually pay.
Services and approaches for a continuous YouTube stream
| Option | Published or reference cost | What it offers | Trade-off to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1. StreamNeo | Monthly: $9.99 per month | Cloud playback of uploaded videos and playlists for YouTube; one always-on stream per slot, 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one price per slot. The first day is free with no card; one free day per account. Details: StreamNeo. | It is for prerecorded uploads, not a live camera feed, and streams to YouTube only. Confirm the storage needed for your playlist. |
| 2. YtLive Stream | Vendor page accessed 3 October 2026: Starter ₹499/month; Pro ₹999/month; Business ₹1,999/month; Agency ₹4,999/month. | Published tiers list 1 stream/10 GB/720p; 2 streams/25 GB/1080p; 5 streams/100 GB/1080p high bitrate; and 20 streams/500 GB, respectively. The vendor describes looping or shuffling, scheduling and automatic reconnection. | Published claims are not tested service performance. Compare the exact output limit, storage and support terms for your use. |
| 3. Self-managed VPS or streaming server | Dated reference examples in a StreamNeo comparison: DigitalOcean US$4/month with 500 GiB transfer and US$12/month with 2,000 GiB; Amazon Lightsail US$7/month with 2 TB; Hetzner CX23 €5.49/month in Germany/Finland, excluding IPv4 and VAT. | More control over the operating system, encoder, playlist and restart logic. | These are dated third-party reference prices, not verified current checkout quotes. Region, tax, transfer, IPv4 and overage terms matter; you administer the server and recovery. |
| 4. NivoHost RDP streaming offers | Vendor page accessed 3 October 2026: RDP 1 ₹699/month; RDP 2 ₹999/month; RDP 3 ₹1,799/month; RDP 4 ₹3,499/month. The page says prices include tax. | Published tiers state one stream handle at 360p/10fps and 20 TB bandwidth; 480p/15fps; two handles at 720p/30fps; and three handles at 1080p/60fps, respectively. | Confirm renewal price, location, bandwidth policy, actual encoding capability and support before purchase. The vendor’s “99% uptime” wording is not an independently verified SLA. |
| 5. Cloud media APIs | Google Cloud’s displayed base USD table lists H.264 SD/HD/UHD input at $0.07/$0.14/$0.85 per channel-hour and output at $0.22/$0.45/$1.50 per output-hour. Rates vary by region. | Programmable media pipeline; Mumbai (asia-south1) is listed among regions. | Not a fixed-price looping plan. An active channel is billed even without input; configured outputs and endpoints add charges, along with supporting services. Calculate the full workflow. |
How to read the comparison
For one channel with a modest audience, a managed playlist service trades some flexibility for less server administration. A VPS may be economical if you are comfortable configuring and maintaining it and its transfer allowance covers your stream. A cloud-media API is generally a build-your-own pipeline rather than a simple subscription for looping one playlist.

Do not label any option “the cheapest” without specifying stream hours, output quality, transfer volume, storage, region, taxes and the work you will do yourself. VPS reference prices above were cited in a StreamNeo comparison dated 26 July 2026 and updated 19 September 2026; they should not be treated as live quotes. The other vendor plan figures are also subject to change.
Estimate the bandwidth for a full month
At a steady 2 Mbps video bitrate, the stream sends about 21.6 GB in 24 hours, or about 648 GB over a 30-day month, before audio, protocol overhead and retransmissions. This is an estimate derived from bitrate and time, using decimal gigabytes; actual network accounting may differ. YouTube viewers receive YouTube’s transcoded versions, so your server’s transfer is principally the stream sent from your encoder to YouTube—not one copy per viewer.

This makes transfer allowance a key VPS check. For context, the cited DigitalOcean US$4 reference plan’s 500 GiB allowance is below the roughly 1.4 TB example in the StreamNeo comparison, while its cited US$12 plan lists 2,000 GiB. The comparison’s workload and plan quotes are dated reference information, not current verified provider checkout terms. Check the provider’s current regional pricing, included transfer, overage rate, tax and IPv4 charges before relying on the allowance.
Google Cloud’s Live Stream API has a different billing model. In its displayed base USD table, H.264 HD input is $0.14 per channel-hour and each HD output is $0.45 per output-hour; the total depends on region and configuration. A configured active channel is billed even without input, and each configured distribution stream and endpoint can add cost. Use the current calculator for the intended region and include all active hours, outputs, endpoints and supporting services.

A large audience can change the economics of a full media pipeline. AWS’s US East (N. Virginia) example estimates $69.74 for a one-hour 540p event with about 1,000 viewers and $1,505.60 for a one-hour 1080p event with about 10,000 viewers. AWS describes these as assumption-dependent estimates, with distribution making up most of the modeled cost. They are scale illustrations, not an India quote or a typical bill for a YouTube creator.
Configure a YouTube stream correctly
YouTube Help says, “We recommend streaming to YouTube Live with RTMPS, a secure extension to the popular RTMP video protocol.” Its guidance says RTMPS encrypts data into and through Google’s servers. YouTube publishes settings for RTMP/RTMPS, H.264, H.265 (HEVC) or AV1 video, AAC or MP3 audio, constant bitrate encoding and a recommended two-second keyframe interval; do not exceed four seconds. The appropriate bitrate depends on resolution and frame rate. For 720p at 30 fps, YouTube’s table gives 2 Mbps as recommended and 6 Mbps as the maximum. Recheck YouTube’s current encoder guidance before configuring a different format or quality.

- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
- Choose and size the server. Select a region with a sensible network route to YouTube, then verify the plan’s CPU/GPU capability, included monthly transfer, storage, tax, IPv4 and overage terms. Leave capacity for stable encoding rather than assuming a low-cost plan can encode any source in real time.
- Prepare the video and playlist. Upload files you have rights to use. Confirm that video and audio codecs, dimensions and frame rate are supported by your encoder. Test a short representative segment before building a long loop.
- Create a YouTube live event and obtain its stream key. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule the live stream and copy its stream key and server URL. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it, commit it to a public script repository or share it with an untrusted service. Use RTMPS when available.
- Configure the encoder. Set a constant bitrate, H.264 (or another format supported by YouTube’s current guidance), AAC or MP3 audio, and a two-second keyframe interval (never above four seconds). For a 720p30 stream, YouTube lists 2 Mbps recommended and 6 Mbps maximum; choose settings appropriate to the source and verify current recommendations for other resolutions and frame rates.
- Start with a test. Send a short test using similar picture motion and audio to the intended stream. Check YouTube stream health, audio levels, dropped frames and whether the loop transitions cleanly. Correct problems before relying on unattended playback.
- Keep it running and recover deliberately. Configure the service manager or process supervisor to restart the encoder after a crash, and check that it resumes the intended playlist and reconnects to YouTube. Monitor logs and alerts; a VPS does not automatically guarantee recovery just because the process starts at boot.
- Secure and maintain the host. Restrict access to the machine and stream key, apply operating-system updates, monitor disk space and transfer use, and test restart behavior after configuration changes.
Copyright and YouTube policy for repeated prerecorded streams
Only stream material you have permission to use, including music, images and any third-party footage. A video being available online or credited in a description does not by itself establish permission. The legality of a particular track or recording cannot be determined without its rights and licence details.
Copyright clearance is separate from YouTube monetization eligibility. Repeated or reused material may raise platform-policy issues even when a stream is technically working; review YouTube’s current rules for live content, copyright and monetization before making a channel-wide playlist. Keep licence records and avoid assuming that continuous playback itself grants rights.
Troubleshoot common failures
- YouTube does not receive the stream: Check that the event is live or scheduled, the copied server URL and stream key are correct, and the encoder is using the intended RTMP/RTMPS destination. If the key has been exposed, replace it.
- Stream health reports instability or frames drop: Check server CPU or encoding capacity, network stability, bitrate consistency and whether the chosen bitrate fits the connection. Test with a representative segment and lower output demands if the host cannot sustain them.
- The stream ends after a disconnect: Confirm the encoder or process supervisor reconnects and restarts the playlist, and inspect logs to distinguish a host restart from a YouTube disconnect. Recovery behavior must be configured and tested on a self-managed server.
- The VPS transfer allowance is exhausted or the bill spikes: Compare actual stream hours and bitrate with the plan’s transfer terms; include overage, region, tax and IPv4 in the recalculation. Reduce bitrate only if the resulting quality remains acceptable.
- Playback stutters at playlist transitions: Check file compatibility, audio continuity and encoder handling of the transition. Test the whole loop or a representative sequence rather than assuming files with similar names have compatible formats.
- Video or audio is blocked or claimed: Review the specific YouTube notice and your licence or permission for the affected material. A technical change to the encoder does not resolve a rights issue.
