Adafruit Fruit Jam: What This Mini RP2350 Computer Can Do

Adafruit Fruit Jam is a programmable RP2350 microcontroller board with DVI video, USB host, audio, storage, and optional Wi-Fi for maker projects.
Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The Adafruit Fruit Jam is a credit-card-sized microcontroller board that can run maker projects with video output, USB-host peripherals, audio, and optional Wi-Fi connectivity. It can drive a suitable HDMI monitor through its DVI output and accept input from a USB keyboard, but it is not a conventional Linux desktop PC: it is programmed with CircuitPython, Arduino, or the Pico SDK.

What is the Adafruit Fruit Jam?

Fruit Jam is Adafruit Product ID 6200, a programmable RP2350B board designed to make computer-style projects easier to build. Its 3.375 × 2.125-inch footprint is approximately the size of a business card, according to Adafruit’s product listing. The board combines microcontroller hardware with video, USB host, storage, audio, and wireless-connectivity features.

It is not a general-purpose desktop computer running a conventional PC operating system. Adafruit lists CircuitPython, Arduino, and Pico SDK as development options. Fruit Jam OS is a separate CircuitPython-based system that provides a keyboard- or mouse-navigated launcher, a code editor, and apps and games.

What hardware and connections does it include?

The board’s core is an RP2350B dual-core microcontroller with two 150 MHz Cortex-M33 cores. Adafruit lists 16 MB of flash and 8 MB of PSRAM; these are board specifications, not independent performance measurements. Other listed hardware includes DVI video output over HSTX, two USB-A host ports, USB-C for power, data, and programming workflows, a microSD slot, and an ESP32-C6 connectivity coprocessor for Wi-Fi and internet projects. See the Fruit Jam guide for board details and setup information.

Adafruit’s product listing notes a PCB update to a new A4 chip as of October 8, 2025. If a particular board revision matters to your project, check the current listing before ordering.

Can you use it with an HDMI monitor and USB keyboard?

Yes, for a suitable project. Fruit Jam outputs DVI video, and Adafruit’s Breakout project guide demonstrates video on an HDMI monitor with a USB keyboard for input. The setup uses an HDMI cable; confirm that your monitor and cable arrangement is appropriate for the board’s DVI output.

The monitor, keyboard, and cable are setup peripherals, not items to assume are included with the board. Follow the project guide’s connection and reset sequence for that demonstration rather than treating every display or USB device as automatically supported.

What can you build or run on it?

Program your own projects

The main guide covers CircuitPython, Arduino, and Pico SDK development. The combination of GPIO, video output, USB host, storage, and audio makes Fruit Jam suited to interactive maker projects that benefit from a display or external controls.

Adafruit Flora Wearable Bluefruit LE Module [ADA2487]
  • The Flora Bluefruit LE makes it easy to add Bluetooth Low Energy connectivity to your Flora. Sew 4 traces (or solder 4 wires) and BooM! Bluetooth Low Energy!
  • Using our Bluefruit iOS App or Android App, you can quickly get your interactive project prototyped by using your iOS or Android phone/tablet as a controller. We have a color picker, quaternion/accelerometer/gyro/magnetometer or location (GPS), and an 8-button control game pad. After you connect to the Bluefruit, you can send commands wirelessly in under 10 minutes
  • For advanced hackers, they'll be very happy to use the standard Nordic UART RX/TX connection profile. In this profile, the Bluefruit acts as a data pipe, that can 'transparently' transmit back and forth from your iOS or Android device. You can use our iOS App or Android App, or write your own to communicate with the UART service.
  • You can do a lot more too!

Use Fruit Jam OS

Fruit Jam OS is a CircuitPython-based, self-contained experience with a launcher navigated by USB keyboard or mouse, a code-file editor, and apps and games. Adafruit describes it as drawing inspiration from early computers and DIY game consoles; it should not be confused with a conventional desktop operating system.

Make games and audio projects

The Breakout guide illustrates a project combining video, USB keyboard input, and sound effects. For audio, Adafruit’s I2S Audio guide describes CircuitPython playback using the built-in TLV320DAC3100 DAC and the Adafruit_CircuitPython_FruitJam module, including WAV files.

Adafruit Feather nRF52 Bluefruit LE - nRF52832
  • The Adafruit Feather nRF52 Bluefruit is an easy-to-use all-in-one Bluetooth Low Energy board, with a native-bluetooth chip, the nRF52832! It's our take on an 'all-in-one' Arduino-compatible + Bluetooth Low Energy with built in USB and battery charging.
  • This chip has twice the flash, SRAM and performance of the earlier nRF51-based Bluefruit modules. Best of all it has Arduino IDE support so there is no 'helper' chip like the ATmega32u4 or ATSAMD21. Instead, this chip is programmed directly! It's got tons of awesome peripherals: plenty of GPIO, analog inputs, PWM, timers, etc. Leaving out the extra microcontroller means the price, complexity and power-usage are all lower/better.
  • It allows you to run code directly on the nRF52832, straight from the Arduino IDE as you would with any other MCU or Arduino compatible device. A single MCU means better performance, lower overall power consumption, and lower production costs if you ever want to design your own hardware based on your Bluefruit nRF52 Feather project!
  • The chip comes pre-programmed with an auto-resetting bootloader so you can upload quickly in the Arduino IDE with no button-pressing. Want to program the chip directly? You can use our command line tools with your favorite editor and toolchain.
  • The example code works great with Adafruit's existing iOS and Android app.

How does audio output work?

For stereo output, connect headphones or powered speakers to the 3.5 mm jack. For a small mono speaker, the board has a JST-SH connector; Adafruit’s audio guide specifies a supported 4–8 ohm speaker. The standard mini-kit listing includes a mini speaker, but check the current product listing to confirm the bundle being sold.

What do you need to get started?

  • A data-capable USB-C cable: A charge-only cable will not work for the bootloader workflow described in the Fruit Jam guide.
  • A display setup, if your project needs one: Choose a suitable display and DVI-to-display cable arrangement. Adafruit’s HDMI-monitor demonstration uses an HDMI cable.
  • Input peripherals, if needed: A USB keyboard or other supported USB-host device can provide project input.
  • Optional audio hardware: Use headphones or powered speakers through the stereo jack, or connect a compatible small mono speaker through JST-SH.
  • Optional removable storage: Add a microSD card if your project requires it.

After connecting the board to a computer with a data-capable cable, use the current guide for the relevant software and bootloader steps. Firmware and installation details can change, so consult the guide rather than relying on a version-specific instruction from an older project page.

What is included with the standard mini-kit?

Adafruit’s product description lists an assembled board, protective top plate, screws, mini speaker, and bumper kit. The listing is the source to check for the contents of the specific bundle currently offered; do not assume it includes a monitor, keyboard, or display cable. The official kit listing is Adafruit Fruit Jam, Product 6200.

Who is Fruit Jam for?

Fruit Jam is a fit for makers who want to program a microcontroller board that can connect to a display and USB peripherals, or who want to experiment with audio, games, and connected projects. It is less suitable if you need a ready-to-use desktop PC for ordinary web browsing, office software, or other general-purpose computer tasks: its computer-like features are intended for projects built and programmed around the board.
