The publishers publicly name Attack and Cover, plus Dispersed Attack, Covering Fire and Concentrate Fire. They have not published a complete button map or detailed effects for each command, so use the current in-game controls or tutorial for exact inputs and behavior.
What are all the wingman commands in Ace Combat 8?
These are the wingman order names publicly identified by Bandai Namco. The sources use both “orders” and “roles,” and do not establish whether every label maps to a separate button or command mode.

| Published command name | What the public information establishes |
|---|---|
| Attack | Bandai Namco Entertainment America says players can issue real-time attack orders. |
| Cover | Bandai Namco Entertainment America also identifies real-time cover orders. |
| Dispersed attack | Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe lists this as a role the player can assign to wingmen; its page does not specify the exact effect. |
| Covering fire | Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe lists this as an assignable wingman role; detailed behavior is not defined there. |
| Concentrate fire | Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe lists this as an assignable wingman role; detailed behavior is not defined there. |
The lists overlap in purpose and terminology, but the official descriptions do not explain whether, for example, “Attack” and “Concentrate fire” are distinct selectable commands, alternate labels, or options presented in different contexts. Treat these five names as the publicly documented set, not a verified exhaustive list of every in-game order.
How do I give wingmen orders?
Wingmen receive tactical commands during combat. Bandai Namco Europe says quick-wingman commands return in Ace Combat 8, tracing the feature to Ace Combat 5. That is franchise context, not confirmation that the older game’s button layout or mechanics carry over unchanged.

The official publisher pages do not give the current game’s exact controller inputs for issuing or switching orders. To find the correct input on your copy, open the game’s controls or tutorial and check the wingman-command instructions for your platform. The game launched October 2, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam; consult the current in-game instructions after updates, since a published control map is not available in the cited publisher material.
What do the commands do?
The public descriptions confirm the command names, but do not define their detailed tactical effects. Do not assume from a label alone how a wingman selects targets, whether an order changes defensive behavior, or whether repeating an input cycles targets. Those specifics need confirmation from the in-game tutorial or controls.

Why are quick commands familiar to Ace Combat players?
Bandai Namco Europe describes quick-wingman commands as returning from Ace Combat 5. The series precedent helps explain the feature’s lineage, but it is not a substitute for checking Ace Combat 8‘s own control prompts: inputs and command behavior may differ between games.
