Forward deployed engineers work alongside the customer and its existing HR or finance teams. The announcement describes a feedback loop: Accenture engineers and client users identify practical deployment requirements, then collaborate with Workday product and technology teams so lessons from implementations can inform future product improvements. Why the announcement matters for HR and finance

The risk profile is therefore different from a general-purpose chatbot.
Workday chief executive and co-founder Aneel Bhusri summarized the control requirement in the announcement: “When AI is helping run payroll and close the books, almost right isn’t good enough.” Accenture chair and chief executive Julie Sweet said the companies intend to help organizations redesign HR and finance around collaboration between people and AI agents, with measurable business outcomes and growth as the goal.
Customers evaluating the program should ask how an agent is authorized, what data it can access, which actions require human approval, how exceptions are logged, and how performance is measured after launch. The FDE model is most relevant where an organization needs hands-on implementation and governance support. A company seeking a simple, off-the-shelf chatbot may not need this level of engagement; a company connecting agents to payroll, close or compliance workflows likely does.
