The Rams ruled defensive lineman Aaron Donald out for their Week 4 game at Philadelphia, scheduled for Sunday, October 4, 2026. Los Angeles listed a back injury; coach Sean McVay described Donald as having back soreness. The team’s report does not give a diagnosis or a return date.
What is Donald’s status for Week 4?
Donald was designated Out for the Rams’ game against the Eagles. The Rams’ October 2 final injury report lists him with a back injury and records him as not practicing on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. The NFL’s Week 4 injury report also lists him as out and as not participating in practice. The Rams call him a defensive end in their report; the NFL listing uses defensive tackle.

McVay explained the decision: “He’s as tough as it gets, just not feeling good enough (to play). And I think it would be irresponsible on my part, and obviously talking with (senior vice president of sports medicine and performance) Reggie (Scott), to ask him.” The Rams’ final injury report also quotes McVay saying Donald was “working as hard as he can to get himself feeling as good as possible, and we’re hopeful and optimistic that good days are ahead.”

Does the ruling say when Donald will return?
No. The Rams and NFL reports establish that Donald will miss this game, but neither states an underlying diagnosis, a severity grade or a return timetable. “Out” applies to the listed Week 4 matchup; it does not establish how long he will be unavailable.
