1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFor CPU performance, the available iPhone benchmark submissions favor the newer A19-equipped iPhone 17 over the A17 Pro-equipped iPhone 15 Pro. That is a comparison between two phones, not a controlled test of the chips alone. Apple has not published a direct A19-versus-A17 Pro performance figure, and the surfaced GPU results use different Geekbench versions, so they do not establish a reliable head-to-head GPU advantage.
Which devices use A19 and A17 Pro?
Apple identifies A19 as the processor in iPhone 17. A17 Pro powers iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. These chips therefore belong to different iPhone generations and product tiers; a phone benchmark reflects the whole device and its software, not just its processor.

How the specifications compare
| Specification | Apple A19 | Apple A17 Pro |
|---|---|---|
| Associated iPhones | iPhone 17 | iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max |
| Manufacturing description | Third-generation 3-nanometer technology, according to Apple | Apple described it at launch as the industry’s first 3-nanometer smartphone chip |
| CPU | Six-core. Apple says it is 1.5 times faster than the A15 Bionic in iPhone 13. | Apple said its CPU was up to 10 percent faster in its launch announcement; that claim is not a comparison with A19. |
| GPU | Five-core. Apple says it is more than twice as fast as the A15 Bionic GPU. | Six-core. Apple described it as up to 20 percent faster in its launch announcement. |
| Disclosed graphics and AI features | Neural Accelerators built into each GPU core to help run generative AI models on-device | Hardware-accelerated ray tracing; Apple said it was four times faster than software-based ray tracing |
Apple’s percentages have different comparison points: A19’s published CPU and GPU claims use A15 Bionic as the baseline, while A17 Pro’s launch claims do not provide a matching comparison with A19. Those figures cannot be combined to calculate a valid A19-versus-A17 Pro percentage. See Apple’s iPhone 17 announcement and Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro announcement for the company’s descriptions.
What the available Geekbench CPU results show
The surfaced Geekbench Browser comparison lists these iPhone CPU results in Geekbench 6.7.0:
#1 Best Overall
- This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
- Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.
- The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charging cable.
- Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.
| Phone and chip | Single-core | Multi-core |
|---|---|---|
| iPhone 17 (A19) | 3,682 | 9,443 |
| iPhone 15 Pro (A17 Pro) | 2,889 | 5,658 |
In these submitted phone results, iPhone 17 scores higher in both CPU tests. They are device-level submissions rather than a controlled laboratory comparison of processors removed from their phones; results can vary between submissions and operating-system conditions. Treat them as evidence about the listed devices, not as a guaranteed score for every iPhone or a precise measure of the chips’ isolated performance. The comparison appears in Geekbench Browser’s CPU results.
Why the GPU scores do not settle the comparison
The surfaced compute results list 37,508 for iPhone 17 and 28,272 for iPhone 15 Pro. However, the iPhone 17 result is from Geekbench 6.7.0, while the iPhone 15 Pro result is from 6.5.0. Because the versions differ, calculating a percentage advantage from those scores would overstate what this comparison can establish. A version-matched test under consistent conditions would be more useful for judging relative GPU performance. The records are available in Geekbench Browser’s compute results.

Which chip should you choose?
For CPU-heavy work
The listed Geekbench results favor iPhone 17 with A19 in both single-core and multi-core performance. If your decision is specifically about the CPU, that is the clearest direct evidence available here, with the caveat that it compares submitted phones rather than isolating their chips.

A17 Pro has a six-core GPU and hardware-accelerated ray tracing; A19 has a five-core GPU and Neural Accelerators in each GPU core for on-device generative AI workloads. Core counts alone do not establish which GPU is faster, and the surfaced compute scores are not version-matched. Choose based on the particular app or game and reliable tests of that workload rather than assuming that more GPU cores—or a newer chip—settle every graphics question.
