In the cited Geekbench 6 comparison, the Apple A18 in the iPhone 16 scores higher than Google’s Tensor G4 in the Pixel 9 in both CPU tests and the listed GPU compute test. Those results describe two complete phones in particular benchmark runs—not a controlled comparison of chips in identical hardware—so they are useful evidence, not a guarantee of how every app, game, or workload will perform.
How the A18 and Tensor G4 compare on paper
The A18 is listed with a six-core CPU—two performance cores and four efficiency cores—and a five-core Apple GPU. CPU-Monkey reports a 3 nm process for the chip (CPU-Monkey’s A18 and Tensor G4 comparison).

NanoReview describes the Tensor G4 as an eight-core, 4 nm chipset, with one Cortex-X4 core at 3.1 GHz, three Cortex-A720 cores at 2.6 GHz, four Cortex-A520 cores at 1.92 GHz, and Mali-G715 MP7 graphics (NanoReview’s Tensor G4 specifications).
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThe process-node labels are reported specifications, not direct measurements of power use, heat, or manufacturing quality. The available sources do not provide a controlled efficiency test comparing these chips in otherwise identical phones. Nor does the Tensor G4’s higher CPU core count establish which processor will be faster: core count alone does not determine benchmark performance.

What the cited phone benchmark reports
NanoReview’s iPhone 16 versus Pixel 9 comparison lists these Geekbench 6 results (NanoReview’s iPhone 16 and Pixel 9 comparison):
| Geekbench 6 measure | iPhone 16 with A18 | Pixel 9 with Tensor G4 |
|---|---|---|
| Single-core CPU | 3,431 | 1,707 |
| Multi-core CPU | 8,638 | 4,431 |
| GPU compute | 28,010 | 7,536 |
In this comparison, the iPhone 16 posts the higher score in all three listed tests. Treat the GPU result as a GPU compute score from this comparison, not as a prediction that the iPhone will outperform the Pixel in every game or graphics task.

- Titanium frame combines strength and lightness, giving the iPhone 16 Pro a premium feel while reducing weight for prolonged daily use. The polished edges and textured back enhance grip and handling, making it easier to use during long calls, gaming sessions, or when capturing photos and videos on the move.
Why Pixel 9 Geekbench scores can differ
A separate Geekbench Browser submission for a Pixel 9, recorded with Geekbench 6.7.1 for Android, reports 1,663 single-core and 3,365 multi-core (the individual Pixel 9 Geekbench Browser result). Those numbers differ from the Pixel 9 figures in NanoReview’s phone comparison. A benchmark score is an observation from a particular run and version, not a fixed specification of the Tensor G4.
Benchmark version, operating-system build, device configuration, temperature, and run-to-run variation can affect results. The comparison is also between an iPhone 16 and a Pixel 9, so it reflects each phone’s software and cooling as well as its chip; it does not isolate the silicon under identical conditions. The cited sources do not establish a controlled comparison of sustained performance, battery efficiency, thermal behavior, or equivalent on-device AI tasks.

What these results tell you—and what they do not
- For the cited Geekbench 6 tests: the iPhone 16 with A18 leads the Pixel 9 with Tensor G4 in both CPU scores and the reported GPU compute score.
- For a general chip ranking: these phone-level results are not a controlled, universal measure of performance across devices or workloads.
- For choosing a phone: benchmark scores do not settle the decision. Price, camera, display, battery, software support, and ecosystem are not evaluated by these results.
Apple’s iPhone 16 specifications page provides the official product reference for the handset used as the A18 example. The comparison here is specifically about the iPhone 16 and Pixel 9, not every device using either chip.
