The figures attached to this result are 30.7 megapixels, 41 MB and 38.7 seconds for a reported 4× upscale. No independent published source was found for that exact combination, and the underlying test details are unavailable. Treat them as reported measurements from a single run, not an independently reproduced benchmark.

Why a successful upscale can still be a problem
“Worked” can mean that the software completed the operation and created a larger image. That does not, by itself, show that the result is more useful. A larger output may be harder to store, transfer or edit, while image detail may be preserved, softened or altered depending on the method.

There is an important distinction between methods designed to enlarge while preserving the source and generative methods that can invent or change fine detail. A June 2026 comparative overview of image-upscaling options discusses this trade-off alongside speed, cost and local versus hosted workflows. The available information does not identify which approach produced the 30.7 MP file.
What “4×” can mean for image dimensions
When 4× means multiplying both width and height by four, the output contains sixteen times as many pixels as the input. That convention can make a modest-looking scale factor produce a much larger image. But the input dimensions for this run are unknown, so the 30.7 MP result cannot be used to infer its source resolution. Confirm how the particular tool defines its scale factor before applying that calculation.

Why 38.7 seconds is not a general speed estimate
Upscaling time depends on the image and the setup, including hardware and quality settings. Viesus reports a benchmark of 25,936 images using an Nvidia RTX A4000, 4× upscaling and standard quality settings. Its average times range from 3.0 seconds in its small input category to 167.2 seconds in its extra-large category. Those are Viesus’s results for its own categories and test setup—not a direct comparison with the reported 38.7-second run.
Viesus also cautions that hardware, quality settings, image content and other factors affect actual processing time. Since the test setup behind 38.7 seconds is not stated, that number should not be used to predict how long another image or system will take.

How to assess an upscale before keeping it
- Check the dimensions. Record the source and output width and height, and verify what the tool means by “4×.”
- Inspect image fidelity. Compare important details with the source at a useful viewing size. If the tool uses generative processing, check for invented or changed fine details rather than assuming that added pixels represent recovered information.
- Check the saved file. Note its format, dimensions and size. If file weight matters, compare suitable output formats or encoding settings while checking that the image still meets the intended quality needs.
- Measure the actual workflow. Record the image, software, hardware, settings and elapsed time. A timing result is useful for planning only when the conditions are clear enough to compare.
- Judge the output against its purpose. A large image may suit a particular editing or display need; for other uses, the extra dimensions and storage may offer little benefit.
What to compare when choosing an upscaling method
Compare the characteristics separately instead of treating “best” as a single outcome. Fidelity matters when the enlarged image must stay close to its source; the possibility of invented detail matters when fine features must remain trustworthy. Speed and cost matter for repeated work, while local versus hosted processing affects how the workflow is run. The June 2026 overview discusses these comparison axes, but the result described here does not establish a winning tool or method.
