There is no verified all-purpose build for Dicevaders. Better runs come from treating each roll as a choice, placing units with scoring and synergies in mind, and adapting your draft to the commander, shop, and current threat. Chapter 6 also changed in Patch #1 on 2 October 2026, so older advice about its difficulty may no longer apply.
Make each roll serve a purpose
Dicevaders is a dice-based roguelike deckbuilder: recruit units and artifacts, place invaders on a turn-based grid, and pursue pairs, triples, or quadruples for combinations. Its official Steam description presents Chrono and Budge as ways to manipulate dice, but they solve different problems.
- Before spending either resource, name the turn’s need. Are you trying to get a useful unit, complete a scoring combination, or improve the shop options for your plan? This keeps you from spending just because a roll is imperfect.
- Compare Chrono’s two uses. The official description says Chrono can reroll dice and restock the shop. Ask whether changing the current dice or seeing new shop options is more useful right now.
- Use Budge for a specific nudge. It can move dice toward a pair, triple, or quadruple. Spend it when the resulting scoring benefit is worth more than keeping it for a later turn.
The developer’s launch announcement put the principle simply: “Don’t sweat a bad roll, though, we’ve got you covered: use Chrono to reroll or spend Budges to nudge your dice exactly where you need them.” That is an invitation to manage a roll, not a guarantee that every weak result should be rerolled. Available sources do not establish a best Chrono or Budge budget by chapter or commander.
Build around what the run actually offers
A coherent synergy gives a run direction, but a narrow plan can become a trap if the shop does not support it. A player comment on the official Steam community page recommends broad builds and pivoting rather than buying every item for one synergy. That is anecdotal player advice, not a universal rule; use it as a prompt to reassess, not as proof that one style always wins.

- Check the actual contribution. For each unit or artifact, consider whether it helps your current scoring objective, works with pieces already in the run, or only supports a hypothetical later build.
- Keep the plan flexible. Favor choices that preserve useful options when the shop is uncertain, instead of committing every resource to a synergy you have not been offered.
- Pivot when support does not arrive. If the available units and artifacts are not advancing the original plan, shift toward the synergies and immediate value the run does provide rather than spending turn after turn trying to rescue a theoretical build.
Place units with scoring and synergy in mind
Grid placement is part of the strategy: the official store description says each placement matters and can enhance scoring potential. Before placing a unit, look at the dice combinations you can realistically make and how the position interacts with the units and artifacts already on the board. Think about the board and the build together rather than treating placement as a final administrative step.
The available official material does not document a universal best formation or exact commander-specific layouts. Avoid copying a fixed pattern without checking whether its scoring opportunities and synergies fit your current run.

Let the commander and opposing Pilot inform your choices
Each commander has a distinct strategic approach, perks, artifacts, and specialized synergies, according to the official game description. Start with the tools your selected commander gives you, then judge new draft options against those tools. The same page warns that Pilots have unique abilities designed to disrupt the invasion, so account for the threat in front of you instead of forcing a plan that ignores it.
The available sources are not enough to establish a reliable commander tier list or detailed counters for each Pilot. Likewise, a single Steam community complaint about Chapter 2 describes one run in which no perk appeared after the first boss; it is one player’s experience, not evidence that this is the expected outcome or a measured balance problem.

Use current patch context for Chapter 6
Dicevaders released on 29 September 2026. In Patch #1 notes dated 2 October 2026, the developer said Chapter 6 had been rebalanced after feedback that it was not fun for many players. The same notes described a replayable hardest difficulty as something being considered for a future major update—not as a confirmed current feature. Check the developer’s Steam announcements and patch notes for the version you are playing before relying on older Chapter 6 tactics or boss values; exact values can date quickly, and the cited notes do not provide a stable set of boss stats to use here.

At launch, Pengonauts and Playstack reported 10 commanders, more than 60 units, 120 artifacts, more than 30 constellations, six difficulties, and 13 additional challenge modes. These are figures from the publishers’ 2026 launch announcement, not a guarantee that every number remains unchanged after updates. That breadth reinforces the practical approach: evaluate what a particular run offers rather than expecting one fixed build to fit every commander and challenge.
