Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Run Chrome headless through Selenium, wait for the page content you need, and save the current browser window to a PNG at an absolute path writable by the non-root process. Check Selenium’s return value so a filesystem error is not mistaken for a successful capture. A properly configured container user does not need --no-sandbox just because Chrome is running as non-root.
Capture a page with Selenium and save the PNG
This Python example uses Chrome’s documented --headless=new option and Selenium’s save_screenshot() method. Replace the example URL and output directory with your own. The script creates the directory if needed, but the runtime user must still have permission to write there.
from pathlib import Path
from selenium import webdriver
from selenium.webdriver.chrome.options import Options
output = Path("/tmp/selenium-output/page.png")
output.parent.mkdir(parents=True, exist_ok=True)
options = Options()
options.add_argument("--headless=new")
driver = webdriver.Chrome(options=options)
try:
driver.get("https://example.com")
# Wait for a meaningful page condition here if important content renders asynchronously.
saved = driver.save_screenshot(str(output))
if not saved:
raise OSError(f"Could not save screenshot to {output}")
finally:
driver.quit()
Remove the accidental leading space before driver in the sample line if copying it: it should read driver = webdriver.Chrome(options=options). Selenium’s Python API documents that save_screenshot(filename) captures the current window as PNG, recommends a full path with a .png extension, and returns False on an I/O error. See the Selenium WebDriver API reference.
Choose page readiness and dimensions deliberately
A successful navigation does not necessarily mean the content you want is visible: JavaScript-rendered sections, images, or other asynchronous elements may appear later. Prefer waiting for a meaningful condition—such as a target element becoming visible—rather than adding the same arbitrary delay to every page. Chrome’s headless documentation shows --headless=new in a Selenium setup and describes CLI capture timing, but it does not establish one universal wait for dynamic Selenium pages: Chrome headless documentation.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The Selenium API method above captures the current window. If output dimensions matter, set the browser window or viewport to the intended size before taking the screenshot, then inspect the result. Chrome’s CLI documentation demonstrates a --window-size argument, but exact APIs and rendering can vary by binding and version. Do not assume a current-window screenshot is equivalent to a full-page capture; requirements and behavior for full-page capture vary across Selenium bindings.
Keep Chrome’s sandbox enabled unless a real error requires investigation
Do not add --no-sandbox as a routine non-root workaround. Chrome’s FAQ says, “--no-sandbox is not needed if you properly setup a user in the container.” That guidance is specific to a properly set-up container user; it is not a guarantee that every host policy or container configuration has identical sandbox requirements. If Chrome reports a sandbox or startup error, investigate the actual error and runtime policy rather than disabling a security boundary by default. See Chrome for Developers’ headless documentation and the Chromium sandbox design.

Troubleshoot in this order
- No PNG appears: use an absolute filename ending in
.png, verify that the parent directory is writable by the process’s runtime UID, and check whethersave_screenshot()returnedTrue. Selenium documentsFalsefor an I/O error. - Chrome fails to start: confirm the installed Chrome and ChromeDriver major versions match. Selenium’s Chrome documentation says their major versions must match and that Selenium 4 supports Chrome v75 and later: Selenium Chrome-specific functionality.
- The image misses content: wait for the specific asynchronous content needed before capture; do not assume navigation alone means rendering is complete.
- The image is clipped or has unexpected dimensions: set the intended viewport or window dimensions, then confirm whether you need the current window or a full-page result.
- Sandbox-related startup failure persists: inspect the reported error and container or host policy. Do not infer from non-root execution alone that
--no-sandboxis required.

ScreenshotNeo takes a website screenshot with one GET request, without installing or configuring Chrome and ChromeDriver. Its documentation covers the API options.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://example.com -o shot.webp
ScreenshotNeo removes cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before the shot. Bot checks, blank pages, failed loads, timeouts, and cache hits are not billed. Its MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots, and the free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. FAQ
Can I get screenshot data without writing a file?
Yes. Selenium’s Python API also exposes screenshot bytes with get_screenshot_as_png() and base64 data with get_screenshot_as_base64(); use these when you need to handle the image in memory instead of saving it directly.

Can Chrome’s command line take a screenshot instead?
Yes. Chrome’s headless CLI supports --screenshot and --window-size; its documented example writes screenshot.png to the current working directory. That output behavior differs from Selenium’s API, where your script supplies the filename.
