Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsChoose Puppeteer when you want PDF generation inside a browser-automation workflow and are prepared to run that workflow in your application. Choose DocRaptor when you prefer to send a document-generation request to a hosted API that uses Prince. Neither is a universal winner: the right choice depends on the page behavior, PDF layout, and operational model your project needs. Test representative pages before committing.
How the two approaches differ
DocRaptor: send a document to a hosted conversion API
DocRaptor converts HTML, CSS, and JavaScript into PDF and other document formats through an external API. Its documentation identifies Prince as the PDF engine and describes both direct binary responses and hosted or asynchronous response modes. That makes it an API integration rather than a call to a browser page’s PDF method in your own Puppeteer workflow.
JavaScript is disabled by default in DocRaptor and can be enabled with an API parameter. If your page depends on scripts to populate content, verify that setting and test the rendered result. DocRaptor’s API documentation maps pipeline versions to Prince and JavaScript engine versions, so any version-specific assumption should be checked against the current documentation rather than treated as timeless.
Puppeteer: create a PDF from an automated browser page
Puppeteer’s Page.pdf() method “Generates a PDF of the page with the print CSS media type,” according to its API documentation. PDF generation is therefore part of the browser automation flow: your application controls the page, then asks that page to produce a PDF.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The method uses print CSS by default. If you need screen styles instead, change the page’s media type before generating the PDF. Print rendering may also alter colors; Puppeteer’s documentation points to -webkit-print-color-adjust when exact colors are required.
Compare the decision points that affect your output
| Decision | DocRaptor | Puppeteer |
|---|---|---|
| Rendering approach | Hosted conversion API; its documentation identifies Prince as the PDF engine. | PDF creation through browser automation using Page.pdf(). |
| Page styling | PDF styling such as page size, headers, and footers is largely CSS-driven; some PDF-only options are Prince-specific. | Print CSS is used by default. The PDF options include page dimensions or paper format, margins, orientation, backgrounds, scaling, page ranges, and CSS @page size preference. |
| JavaScript behavior | Disabled by default; enable it when the document depends on JavaScript. | Rendered through the automated browser page; check that the content is ready before creating the PDF. |
| Operations | Your application makes an external document-generation API request. | Your application runs the browser automation workflow that creates the PDF. |
| Price and production limits | Current paid prices and usage limits are not established here; check DocRaptor’s current terms. | Not stated in the reviewed product documentation; account for the infrastructure and operation of your own workflow. |
The table describes the documented integration models and controls, not feature equivalence. A similarly named setting does not guarantee identical pagination or output. The available documentation does not establish comparative reliability, speed, output fidelity, infrastructure effort, concurrency capacity, or total cost.
Choose based on your workflow and document requirements
Prefer Puppeteer when browser-level control is central
Puppeteer is a natural fit if your application already automates browser pages and you want PDF generation to remain within that workflow. Its PDF options give you explicit controls over format or dimensions, landscape orientation, margins, page ranges, backgrounds, scale, timeout, font readiness, and whether CSS page sizing takes priority. Confirm each setting against your installed Puppeteer version and the output your templates require.

Prefer DocRaptor when a managed API fits your integration
DocRaptor is relevant when you want your application to submit a conversion request to a hosted service using Prince, rather than call Page.pdf() itself. Its documentation describes direct binary output as well as hosted and asynchronous response modes. Check the current API documentation for the request mode and options that match your application.
Test real pages rather than choosing by feature names
For either route, render representative documents that include the CSS, assets, and dynamic behavior that matter in production. Compare page breaks, headers and footers, fonts, image loading, color handling, and any print-specific styles against an expected result. For authenticated pages, decide how credentials and access are supplied; for JavaScript-driven content, establish how you know the page is ready before conversion. These are project-specific checks, not claims of measured differences between the products.
DocRaptor documents resource-download failures—including failed HTTP responses, DNS errors, timeouts, SSL problems, or rejected connections—as factors that can affect generation when resource errors are configured to fail the request. Keep external fonts, images, and stylesheets reachable from the conversion environment, and decide whether a failed resource should fail the whole document or be handled another way.

Implement a basic Puppeteer PDF flow
This Node.js example opens a page, waits for the document fonts, and writes a PDF. Install Puppeteer in your project first with npm install puppeteer. Replace the example URL with a page you are authorized to access.
const puppeteer = require('puppeteer');
(async () => {
const browser = await puppeteer.launch();
try {
const page = await browser.newPage();
await page.goto('https://example.com', { waitUntil: 'networkidle0' });
await page.pdf({
path: 'report.pdf',
format: 'A4',
printBackground: true,
waitForFonts: true
});
} finally {
await browser.close();
}
})();
This is a starting point, not a guarantee that every site becomes PDF-ready at networkidle0. Some pages keep network connections open or load content after that point. For those pages, wait for a meaningful selector or another application-specific readiness condition, and configure a timeout appropriate to the document.
Account for layout, assets, and operational failure
Print CSS and page geometry
Use print-specific CSS for intentional pagination, page breaks, and print-only or hidden elements. In Puppeteer, choose paper format or dimensions, margins, orientation, scale, page ranges, background printing, and CSS page-size behavior deliberately. DocRaptor relies heavily on CSS for styling such as page size, headers, and footers, with additional Prince-specific PDF options. Verify the resulting pages for both approaches rather than assuming that matching settings produce matching PDFs.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
Color and fonts
If color accuracy matters, inspect the actual PDF. Puppeteer’s documentation notes that print rendering can modify colors and points to -webkit-print-color-adjust for forcing exact colors. Puppeteer also offers a setting to wait for fonts; include it when font readiness matters, but still check the output for missing or substituted fonts.
External resources and dynamic content
A document can render without an asset that failed to load. Check fonts, images, stylesheets, scripts, and access-controlled resources in the context where conversion runs. DocRaptor’s documented resource-error behavior makes failure policy especially important when its request is configured to fail on resource errors. With Puppeteer, verify that navigation and the application’s chosen readiness condition actually cover the content needed in the PDF.
Cost, scale, and reliability
The reviewed documentation does not support a numerical price comparison or a performance or reliability winner. DocRaptor says test documents are free and watermarked; that is a testing detail, not evidence of a free production plan. Before choosing, verify current paid prices, usage limits, and any relevant pipeline or engine details directly, then evaluate the operational work and behavior under your own workload.

Common problems and fixes
- JavaScript content is missing in a DocRaptor PDF: JavaScript is disabled by default. Check whether the page needs it and enable the documented API option if appropriate.
- Images, fonts, or styles are missing: Confirm that the conversion environment can reach the resource URLs and that the resources do not require unavailable authentication. For DocRaptor, check whether resource errors are configured to fail the request.
- The PDF uses the wrong CSS: Puppeteer uses print media by default. If screen styling is intended, change the page media type before calling
Page.pdf(); otherwise, add or adjust print CSS. - Colors look different from the browser: Inspect print color behavior and, for Puppeteer, consider the documented
-webkit-print-color-adjustapproach for exact colors. - Content is cut off or pagination differs from expectations: Check page size, margins, scaling, page-break rules, and CSS page-size preference. Compare actual output pages rather than relying on a browser preview.
- The page times out or produces an incomplete document: Revisit the readiness condition. A generic network-idle wait may not match a page that loads content late or keeps connections open; wait for a relevant selector or application state and set a suitable timeout.
Or skip the browser setup
