How Cypress Cloud handles screenshot storage
When you record a run with cypress run --record, Cypress sends run data to Cypress Cloud. Screenshots and videos are associated with their test results, rather than presented as a separately priced storage product. Cypress says those artifacts remain available for the plan’s data-retention period and can be browsed or shared in the Cloud interface. That distinction matters: not seeing a standalone screenshot-storage line item on the reviewed pricing materials does not guarantee identical terms for every account or contract. Confirm your organization’s plan and billing details in Cypress Cloud before estimating a bill.
What Cypress Cloud pricing meters
Cypress presents usage billing around test results—through included allowances, bundled results and on-demand results—and AI capabilities. The pricing materials reviewed do not show a separate price per screenshot or a standalone screenshot-storage charge.

These are test-result prices and allowances, not screenshot-storage rates. For a useful plan comparison, also check retention, user seats, support and workflow features; the figures above alone do not establish which plan is best for a particular organization.

How long screenshots are kept
Retention depends on the plan. Cypress’s FAQ specifies 30 days for Starter; do not assume that period applies to Team, Business or Enterprise. The reviewed public materials do not provide a complete retention table for every tier.
To see the values that apply to your team, open the organization’s Billing & Usage view in Cypress Cloud. It shows the plan, included and bundled results, on-demand charges, data retention, renewal date and usage by project. Cypress’s FAQ also lists Starter limits of 500 results per billing period and 10 organization users. Check the Cypress Cloud FAQ and your account view for current terms.

What gets sent, and how to limit artifacts
For a recorded cypress run, Cypress says Cloud receives terminal output, test results and definitions, Cypress configuration (excluding Cypress environment variables), screenshots, videos, and CI- and Git-related environment variables. If Test Replay is enabled, additional DOM and CSS data, Cypress command and event data, network information and browser console information may be sent. Review Cypress’s Cloud documentation and configuration before enabling recording or replay for sensitive projects.
- Failure screenshots: Cypress captures these by default during
cypress run. - Video: Video recording is disabled by default and can be enabled. Teams can delete videos before upload.
- Screenshot contents: Cypress documents blackout controls for hiding selected page elements, plus an option to capture only the viewport/application rather than the runner interface. Configure these controls where the data could expose sensitive information.
Capture and upload settings affect which artifacts are sent; they do not change the plan’s stated retention period for artifacts that are uploaded.

- In Cypress Cloud, open the organization’s Billing & Usage view and note its plan, renewal date, retention period and project-level usage.
- Compare recorded test-result volume for the applicable billing period with the included allowance. Identify any bundled or on-demand results and their current rates.
- Review whether Test Replay or other AI capabilities are enabled, since they are separate usage considerations from screenshot storage.
- Decide whether screenshots and videos should be captured and uploaded for each workflow, and apply masking or video controls where appropriate.
- Recheck Cypress’s pricing and your organization’s billing view before forecasting future charges; the public prices and allowances may change, and account or contract terms may differ.
There is no supported calculation that turns a number of stored screenshots into a Cypress Cloud storage bill from the reviewed materials: they do not state a separate screenshot-storage rate or complete retention terms for every plan.
