Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteFor an existing Puppeteer script, Browserbase and BrowserCat are managed-browser alternatives worth evaluating; Browserless itself remains relevant if you need Docker self-hosting or its documented REST and GraphQL interfaces. None can be called the fastest or cheapest for India on the available evidence: there is no like-for-like India benchmark or normalized cost comparison. Choose by testing the same workload from the region where your job will actually run.
First decide whether you need a browser session or a task endpoint
If your Puppeteer code controls a browser through multiple steps—navigation, clicks, branching, and state—you need a compatible remote browser session, commonly exposed through a WebSocket/CDP endpoint. A screenshot, PDF, or extraction endpoint may be simpler for a single task, but it is not automatically a replacement for a Puppeteer-controlled browser.
Browserless documents both approaches: BaaS sessions for existing Puppeteer or Playwright code, and separate REST and GraphQL workflows for task-shaped requests. Its overview also describes Docker self-hosting. Browserless documentation and its platform page are the places to verify current interfaces, locations, and plan details.
Browserless alternatives to evaluate
Browserbase: managed Puppeteer/CDP with hosted operations
Browserbase documents Puppeteer integration through Chrome DevTools Protocol, custom proxy configurations, and session recording and observability. Its product information describes a cloud-first service, VPC connectivity and private-cloud options, and no on-prem deployment. It lists North American and European regions and says Asia-Pacific is available upon request for enterprise customers. That does not establish an Indian region or a particular response time from India. Review its official product and pricing information for current access, rates, and quotas.

Consider it if you want a managed browser and its hosted operational features. Before migrating, check that your exact Puppeteer methods, launch behavior, browser version needs, and session lifecycle are supported.
BrowserCat: one managed endpoint with backend routing
BrowserCat documents connecting Puppeteer or another CDP client to a managed endpoint. Its page says a router selects a backend based on capability, cost, and region, and identifies Cloudflare and Steel as live backends. It describes free access and usage-based browser-time pricing, but current costs and service geography should be confirmed with the vendor. Its global-edge and failover descriptions are vendor claims, not independent India performance results. See BrowserCat’s product information and confirm which backends and terms are currently available.
It may suit developers who want to explore a single endpoint that routes sessions among browser backends. Validate routing behavior and compatibility with your workload instead of assuming it will behave identically to a fixed browser provider.

Keep Browserless in the comparison
Browserless is not automatically a service to leave behind. Its documentation distinguishes WebSocket BaaS sessions from REST and GraphQL tasks, and its overview describes cloud and Docker self-hosted deployment. Its platform page lists San Francisco, London, and Amsterdam, plus a free monthly allowance; those location and plan details can change. Check the current platform information before relying on them.

Compare the services against your actual requirements
| Decision point | Browserless | Browserbase | BrowserCat |
|---|---|---|---|
| Puppeteer control | WebSocket BaaS for existing Puppeteer or Playwright code, according to its docs | Puppeteer integration through CDP, according to its product information | Managed Puppeteer/CDP endpoint, according to its product page |

| Deployment model | Cloud and Docker self-hosting described by the overview | Cloud-first; VPC connectivity and private-cloud options described; no on-prem deployment | Managed cloud service described; self-hosting not established on the cited page |
| Geography stated by vendor | San Francisco, London, Amsterdam listed on its platform page | North America and Europe listed; Asia-Pacific available on enterprise request | Global edge infrastructure described; no Indian region named on the cited page |
| India latency, reliability, normalized cost | Not established by an independent India-based comparison | Not established by an independent India-based comparison | Not established by an independent India-based comparison |
These are vendor-described capabilities, not independent validation of your code or workload. Also compare proxy configuration, persistent sessions, CAPTCHA or stealth claims, recording and observability, concurrency, and support only when those capabilities matter to your job. Do not infer a data-residency commitment from a region list.

Test candidates from the production environment
- Choose a representative script. Use the same Puppeteer version, target pages, navigation and interaction sequence, and output checks for each candidate.
- Run it where the job will run. A developer laptop is a poor proxy for a production worker. Both provider location and target-site location affect network paths; “India” by itself does not predict latency.
- Record comparable outcomes. For each provider and test date, record completion rate, navigation and action latency, timeouts, concurrency, and browser or session failures. Keep workload and deployment region with the results.
- Exercise the methods your application depends on. Verify CDP/Puppeteer compatibility and test authentication, downloads or uploads, persistent state, timeouts, and browser-version requirements where relevant.
- Model the bill using real usage. Calculate from the provider’s current billable unit, session duration, concurrency, retries, proxy use, plan limits, currency conversion, applicable taxes, and payment terms. Confirm these details directly with each provider; an India-specific cheapest option is not established here.
- Check deployment and data terms. If infrastructure ownership or data placement matters, compare Browserless’s documented Docker option with each hosted vendor’s current VPC, private-cloud, residency, and contractual terms.
Migration checklist for an existing Puppeteer script
- Replace only the remote connection configuration first; avoid changing browser behavior and provider at the same time.
- Confirm how the provider supplies its WebSocket/CDP endpoint and authenticates access. Use the provider’s current documentation rather than assuming endpoint formats are interchangeable.
- Check whether your code depends on local launch flags or browser features that a remote managed session may not expose.
- Run functional tests for navigation, selectors, downloads, uploads, cookies, and state persistence used by your script.
- Set explicit timeouts and inspect failure responses so a connection failure, navigation timeout, and target-page failure are distinguishable.
- Roll out with a limited share of jobs, compare the same success and latency measures, and retain a rollback path to the existing endpoint.
Or skip the browser setup
If the job is simply to capture a website, ScreenshotNeo is the alternative to try first: it accepts a URL in one GET request and returns an image or PDF, rather than requiring you to manage a Puppeteer browser session. Before capture, it accepts cookie/consent banners like a visitor and removes 60+ known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each step can be turned off. Bot checks/CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server gives AI agents tools for screenshots, page information, and PDF capture.
For example, save a WebP screenshot of a target URL with cURL:
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. It includes 1,000 screenshots a month free with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Learn about ScreenshotNeo, then sign up for the free plan.

The script cannot connect
Check the endpoint, credentials, and whether the service expects a WebSocket/CDP connection rather than a local Puppeteer launch. Confirm that the selected plan permits the session pattern you are using.

It connects but an action fails
Compare the failing method and browser assumptions with the provider’s documented Puppeteer/CDP support. Test the exact operation—such as a download, upload, or persistent-state workflow—rather than relying on a basic page load as proof of compatibility.
Latency varies between runs
Record the worker region, provider region, target page, and test time alongside measurements. Network route, page behavior, and provider location can all affect results; the available vendor descriptions do not establish a comparative India latency ranking.

Frequently asked questions
Does Browserbase have an Indian region?
The cited product information lists North America and Europe and says Asia-Pacific is available to enterprise customers upon request; it does not establish a specific Indian region.
Is BrowserCat’s routing independently benchmarked?
No India-based independent benchmark is established here. Its routing, global-edge, and failover descriptions are vendor claims, so verify current behavior with a workload trial.
Can I use a screenshot API instead of Puppeteer?
Yes, if the task is a direct screenshot or similar capture and does not require your script to control a browser across multiple steps. A task endpoint is not a general substitute for a remotely controlled session.
