Screenshotlayer can wait a fixed number of seconds before capturing a page, giving JavaScript-rendered content extra time to appear. It does not document a signal that confirms JavaScript has finished, so treat the setting as a capture delay—not an automatic “wait until ready” feature.
Set a capture delay in Screenshotlayer
-
Register or sign in to Screenshotlayer and obtain an access key. The API requires a key; keep it private.
-
Submit the target webpage URL to the Screenshotlayer screenshot API and set its documented delay parameter to the number of seconds to wait before capture. The Screenshotlayer FAQ describes this delay as a way to let animations or effects finish.
-
Choose a wait based on the page you need to capture, then inspect the result. If client-rendered content is missing, try a longer delay and capture again.

The provider’s FAQ confirms a delay in seconds, but the exact parameter range, maximum, and complete request syntax could not be verified from the linked API documentation. Check the current Screenshotlayer API documentation for the precise query-string syntax before implementing a request; do not assume a particular delay value or parameter spelling.
What the delay does—and does not—guarantee
A fixed delay gives the page more time to render before the screenshot is taken. It is not proof that every script, API call, animation, or lazy-loaded image has completed. Screenshotlayer’s retrieved documentation does not describe waiting for a JavaScript-ready event, a CSS selector, or network idle.
Screenshotlayer says its rendering engine can process Canvas, graphs, webfonts, and CSS3. That describes supported kinds of page content; it is not a guarantee that a particular site’s scripts or network-dependent content will finish within a chosen wait.

Choose and verify the wait
-
Begin with a short delay appropriate to the page’s behavior, then check whether the specific content you need is visible in the resulting image.

If content is still absent, increase the wait and recapture. There is no universal delay documented for all sites.
-
When a page depends on a slow or inconsistent API response, a longer fixed wait may help, but it still cannot ensure the response has arrived. Confirm the output rather than treating elapsed time as a readiness signal.
-
Keep the output and viewport in mind while checking the result. Screenshotlayer lists PNG as its default output and also names JPEG and GIF; its feature information covers viewport sizing and full-page capture. Verify their current request syntax in the API reference.
Troubleshooting incomplete screenshots
JavaScript content is missing
Increase the capture delay and test again. The delay is time-based, so it cannot distinguish a slow script from a page that never produces the expected content.
The screenshot is blank or shows an unfinished state
Check that the target URL is correct and that the page can load as expected. If the page relies on a later client-side update, try a longer delay; Screenshotlayer’s documentation does not establish an automatic completion check.

Your request fails or the delay setting is rejected
Confirm that your access key is present and consult the current API reference for the exact parameter spelling, supported range, and request format. Those details are not established by the provider FAQ’s description of the delay alone.

With ScreenshotNeo, send one GET request with a URL to receive a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. Its API includes waits for a selector, a delay, or network idle; the selector and network-idle options can provide a readiness condition instead of relying only on elapsed time.
For example, a fixed delay can be set with wait=3000 (milliseconds):
Best Value
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -d wait=3000 -o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for the current parameters. Cookie banners, popups, and chat widgets are removed before the shot; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are never billed. An MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card, and paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. Sign up for ScreenshotNeo and get 1,000 free screenshots a month—no card required.
