Linux sandbox setup की ओर इशारा करता है; और Windows पर Access is denied permissions की समस्या हो सकती है। BackstopJS में browser launch settings engineOptions में होती हैं। सही उपाय error, operating system और आपके BackstopJS/Puppeteer versions पर निर्भर करता है—हर launch failure में --no-sandbox जोड़ना सही नहीं है।
पहले पता करें कि Chrome launch नहीं हुआ या page load नहीं हुई
Failed to launch chrome! अकेले कारण नहीं बताता। इसके बाद आने वाली पूरी error line और Chrome stderr देखें। Chrome process शुरू न हो पाना launch failure है; Chrome शुरू होने के बाद scenario का navigation अटकना URL, network, timeout या memory की समस्या हो सकती है। दोनों को एक ही fix से हल करने की कोशिश न करें।
BackstopJS README के अनुसार Puppeteer default engine है और Playwright भी उपलब्ध है। अपने config में चुना हुआ engine तथा उससे जुड़े engineOptions जांचें। Configuration की बारीकियां चुने हुए engine के अनुसार बदल सकती हैं।
Error के अनुसार सही उपाय चुनें
Docker में root और --no-sandbox वाला error
Running as root without --no-sandbox is not supported Docker/root संदर्भ से मेल खाता है। BackstopJS README पुराने, BackstopJS v3.5 से पहले बनाए गए configs के संदर्भ में engineOptions.args में यह option देने का documented workaround दिखाता है:

Linux पर usable sandbox उपलब्ध न होने पर Chrome इस error के साथ crash हो सकता है। Host के sandbox setup की जांच करें। Ubuntu 23.10 और उसके बाद Chrome for Testing को user namespaces इस्तेमाल करने से रोकने वाली AppArmor policy भी संभावित कारण है। Distribution और पूरा log देखकर sandbox से जुड़ा कारण सत्यापित करें; केवल generic Failed to launch chrome! देखकर sandbox बंद न करें।

Windows पर Access is denied या sandbox permissions error
Chrome executable की file permissions और Puppeteer version जांचें। Puppeteer v22.14.0 से setup.exe के जरिए Chrome permissions configure करने की कोशिश करता है। पुराने Puppeteer versions में, या समस्या जारी रहने पर, Puppeteer guide manual icacls उपाय बताती है। Command लगाने से पहले अपने executable का path और मौजूदा permissions सत्यापित करें; किसी दूसरे setup का path ज्यों का त्यों न अपनाएं।
Docker में Chrome खुलता है, पर host की site नहीं
यदि BackstopJS container से host machine पर चल रही app खोलनी है, तो scenario URL में localhost container के भीतर ही container को संदर्भित कर सकता है। BackstopJS README macOS और Windows पर host तक पहुंचने के लिए host.docker.internal का उदाहरण देता है। यह network reachability का उपाय है, Chrome launch error का नहीं।

Launch के बाद timeout या असामान्य व्यवहार
BackstopJS README Chrome-Headless के लिए पर्याप्त memory की जरूरत पर ध्यान दिलाता है। यदि Chrome शुरू होता है लेकिन navigation timeout होता है या Docker में व्यवहार अनियमित है, तो container की उपलब्ध memory और timeout को अलग से जांचें। इसे process launch failure न समझें।

- पूरा error text और Chrome stderr सुरक्षित करें। साथ में OS या container, BackstopJS version और Puppeteer version नोट करें।
backstop.jsonमें चुना हुआengineऔरengineOptionsजांचें। पुष्टि करें कि जिस engine की settings बदल रहे हैं, वही config में चुना है।- यदि log में root और sandbox का स्पष्ट उल्लेख हो, Docker user तथा sandbox setup जांचें।

No usable sandbox!error में sandbox configuration और, Ubuntu 23.10+ पर, संभावित AppArmor रोक की जांच करें। Windows permission error में Chrome files की permissions और Puppeteer version देखें। - यदि Chrome process शुरू हो गया है, scenario URL, container से host की network पहुंच, memory और navigation timeout पर जाएं।
- अंत में version और log का मिलान पुराने issue reports से करें। BackstopJS issue #803 में 2018 के v3.2.17 report में
SingletonLockका उल्लेख है; वह उस पुराने संदर्भ का उदाहरण है, वर्तमान versions के लिए सामान्य fix का प्रमाण नहीं।
Logs से कारण अलग करने के तरीके
BackstopJS README में debug: true verbose logs के लिए और debugWindow: true browser state देखने के लिए दिए गए हैं। debugWindow headless CI में उपयुक्त न भी हो सकता है। इनका उपयोग यह समझने के लिए करें कि browser launch से पहले failure हुआ या browser चलने के बाद scenario रुका।
