How to Run Multiple YouTube Livestreams with Separate Playlists in India

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

You can run separate YouTube livestreams and organize their replays into different playlists, but playlists do not create or separate live broadcasts. Create each broadcast in YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room; if they need to run at the same time, observe YouTube’s limits of 10 active streams per channel and 3 per stream key. After each stream, add its replay to the playlist intended for that event or topic.

Separate the live broadcasts from the playlists

A livestream is a broadcast; a playlist is an organizer for videos. Creating multiple playlists will not create multiple live feeds. Plan the broadcasts in Live Control Room, then use playlists to group the replays after they are available. YouTube recommends organizing livestream archives and highlight clips into playlists.

If the events happen at different times, schedule each as a separate broadcast. If they must be live concurrently, set up a separate feed for each and count both the channel-wide and stream-key limits before starting.

Check eligibility in India

Computer, webcam, or encoder

YouTube’s general live-stream requirements say the channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions during the preceding 90 days. The stated minimum age to live stream is 16. The reviewed general requirements do not set the mobile subscriber threshold as a universal requirement for every method.

Mobile streaming

YouTube’s mobile instructions list at least 50 subscribers, channel verification, no live-streaming restrictions during the preceding 90 days, and live streaming turned on. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours. India is included in the availability context for those instructions. See YouTube’s mobile live-streaming requirements.

Set up each broadcast

  1. Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Create or schedule each broadcast separately. Use Manage to schedule a stream, reuse settings, or create a new stream. A scheduled broadcast can appear as upcoming so viewers can opt into reminders. Follow YouTube’s live-stream setup instructions.
  2. Choose the production method for each feed. YouTube supports mobile, webcam, and encoder workflows. A webcam is optional, not a requirement for creating separate playlists or broadcasts. For an encoder feed, use the server URL and the corresponding stream key shown by YouTube.
  3. Keep stream keys private. Treat each key as a credential: YouTube describes it as the stream’s password and address. Do not include it in public notes, screenshots, or other material viewers can access. See YouTube’s encoder setup guidance.
  4. Check concurrency before going live. YouTube documents a limit of 10 active streams per channel and 3 active streams per stream key. Both limits apply at once. Count all active channel streams, then count the streams using each key; being under one limit does not override exceeding the other. These are YouTube’s published limits, not a guarantee that a particular production setup or network can handle your intended feeds.

Put each replay in the right playlist

  1. Create and name playlists before the series begins. Choose names that make the intended audience or topic clear. Decide whether each playlist should be public, unlisted, or private, and whether videos should follow event order or another useful sequence.
  2. After a broadcast, open its replay in YouTube Studio. Find it under Content > Live, then open the video’s details and add it to the appropriate playlist. Review the playlist’s visibility and ordering. You can add the same video to more than one playlist if that suits your organization.
  3. Verify the replay exists before relying on it. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived. Streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured, so YouTube recommends keeping a local recording as a backup. Check that the archive is available before treating playlist assignment as complete. See YouTube’s live-stream archiving guidance.

Plan for the two common setups

Need What to do Key check
Separate events at different times Schedule each broadcast separately in Live Control Room, then assign each replay to its intended playlist. Make sure the schedule and playlist names reflect the event or topic.
Separate feeds at the same time Set up each live feed separately and use the encoder settings and stream key for its intended broadcast. Stay within both YouTube limits: 10 active streams per channel and 3 per stream key.
Mobile live broadcast in India Use YouTube’s mobile live-stream workflow. Meet its 50-subscriber threshold and other mobile eligibility requirements; activation can take up to 24 hours.

Troubleshoot common snags

  • You cannot start another concurrent feed: Count active streams across the channel and under the specific stream key. YouTube’s documented caps apply simultaneously.
  • The first mobile stream is not available yet: Confirm mobile eligibility and that live streaming is enabled; first-time activation may take up to 24 hours.
  • The key does not connect: Check that the encoder has the intended YouTube server URL and stream key, and that the key has not been mistyped or exposed. Use the settings associated with that broadcast.
  • The replay is missing: Confirm whether the stream exceeded 12 hours. Longer streams may not be captured; keep a local recording for important events and verify the archive before depending on it.
  • The video is in the wrong playlist: Open the replay’s details in Studio, add it to the correct playlist, and review visibility and ordering.
