In India, the lower YouTube Partner Program (YPP) tier can unlock selected fan-funding and Shopping features; ad revenue requires the higher eligibility tier and YouTube’s approval. Public livestream hours count toward the long-form watch-hour threshold only when the stream is converted to a video on demand (VOD).
How monetization of a 24/7 stream works
A continuous stream uses the same YouTube monetization routes available to eligible creators, but each route has its own conditions. Ads depend on eligible views and whether YouTube serves an ad; fan funding depends on viewers choosing to pay; and Premium revenue depends on Premium subscribers watching your content. None of these is guaranteed by streaming around the clock.
YouTube does not guarantee an ad slot will be shown to every viewer. The official guidance reviewed does not establish a typical India-specific earnings rate, so a fixed amount per hour or a reliable rupee estimate cannot be given.
Meet the relevant YPP requirements in India
YouTube lists a lower YPP eligibility tier and a higher tier for ad revenue. These are application gates, not automatic acceptance: YouTube reviews the channel and its content, and feature eligibility can also depend on age, location, policy compliance, and acceptance of relevant terms. Check the Earn tab in YouTube Studio for your channel’s current status and available features.

| Tier | Eligibility route listed by YouTube | What it can unlock |
|---|---|---|
| Lower YPP tier | 500 subscribers, three public uploads in the previous 90 days, and either 3,000 qualified public long-form watch hours in the past 365 days or 3 million qualified public Shorts views in the past 90 days. | Selected fan-funding and Shopping features, subject to their own requirements. |
| Ad-revenue tier | 1,000 subscribers and either 4,000 qualified public long-form watch hours in the past 365 days or 10 million qualified public Shorts views in the past 90 days. | Watch-page ad revenue and YouTube Premium revenue, subject to YPP acceptance and applicable terms. |
To be considered, accept the YPP terms and link an active AdSense for YouTube account. Meeting a numeric threshold does not itself secure admission: YouTube reviews the channel as a whole and applies its monetization and advertiser-friendly policies.
Make livestream watch hours count toward the long-form threshold
Public livestream watch time can count toward the long-form watch-hour requirement only if YouTube converts the stream into a VOD. Unlisted or deleted streams, and livestreams not converted to VOD, do not count as qualified watch hours. If you are working toward the threshold, check the stream’s visibility and replay outcome rather than assuming that every live-viewing hour will qualify. The reviewed guidance does not establish a maximum archive duration or a technical limit for continuous streaming.
Choose the revenue routes that fit your stream
| Route | How it can earn | What it depends on |
|---|---|---|
| Live ads | Eligible live streams can earn from ads shown on the watch page. | YPP acceptance, live monetization eligibility, advertiser-friendly content, and ad delivery. YouTube does not promise an ad for every viewer. |
| Super Chat and Super Stickers | Eligible viewers can pay to highlight chat messages or send animated stickers. | Fan-funding feature eligibility and acceptance of the Commerce Product Module; viewers must choose to pay. |
| Channel memberships | Eligible viewers pay recurring monthly fees for creator-defined perks such as badges and emoji. | Feature eligibility and a community that values the offered perks enough to join. |
| Shopping | Eligible creators may feature their own merchandise or eligible products from other brands. | Current channel and feature eligibility, plus applicable terms. |
| YouTube Premium | A creator may receive a share of a Premium subscriber’s subscription fee when that subscriber watches the creator’s content. | Premium subscribers watching the content and the applicable YouTube monetization terms. |
| Brand partnerships | A creator may earn through a brand partnership. | A suitable partner and deal. Availability and terms vary; no India-specific deal terms or partner program are established here. |
Enable and manage ads on an eligible live stream
Once accepted into YPP and eligible for live monetization, enable monetization for the stream in YouTube Studio. YouTube says pre-roll and display ads turn on automatically when live monetization is enabled. Mid-rolls can be handled automatically or inserted manually.

- Ideal for a bookworm
- Compact for travelling
- Automatic mid-rolls: YouTube provides low, medium, and high frequency settings.
- Scheduled mid-rolls: YouTube lists intervals of 6, 12, 18, 24, or 30 minutes. These are available settings, not a recommended schedule or a promise that an ad will serve at each interval.
- Manual breaks: You can insert mid-rolls yourself, but delivery to each viewer is still not guaranteed.
Choose settings with the stream’s viewing experience in mind. Continuous uptime does not mean continuous ad breaks, and neither ad availability nor income is fixed.
Keep a 24/7 stream eligible and sustainable
Follow monetization and advertiser-friendly policies
YouTube’s monetization policies apply to livestreams. A channel must pass review, and ad-supported content must follow advertiser-friendly guidelines. Fan-funding features also have their own conditions; first-time fan-funding users must accept the Commerce Product Module. Check Studio for the current requirements rather than assuming every feature becomes available at the same threshold.

Use content you have rights to use
Before looping music, video, or other material, make sure you have the rights and permissions needed for YouTube use and monetization. A 24/7 format does not exempt a stream from copyright or monetization policies. Policy compliance and original value matter to channel eligibility; the fact that content can be replayed continuously is not evidence that it can be monetized.
Plan the stream around viewers, not just uptime
Ad revenue requires eligible viewers and ad delivery; memberships and chat payments require people who want to support the channel. A stream that offers a clear reason to return—such as useful programming, a coherent playlist, or meaningful community interaction—has a stronger foundation for those voluntary routes than a loop that viewers have little reason to revisit. Do not treat 24-hour operation itself as a revenue strategy.

Common monetization problems and what to check
- The channel meets a threshold but monetization is unavailable: Confirm progress and feature status in Studio’s Earn tab. Thresholds do not guarantee acceptance; check YPP terms, the linked active AdSense for YouTube account, channel review, age and regional conditions, and feature-specific requirements.
- Livestream hours are missing from the long-form total: Check whether the stream was public and converted to VOD. Unlisted, deleted, or non-converted livestreams do not count as qualified public watch hours.
- Ads are enabled but some viewers see none: YouTube does not guarantee that an ad slot will serve to every viewer. Enabling monetization is not a promise of an ad impression or a fixed return.
- Fan-funding options do not appear: Check feature eligibility and whether the Commerce Product Module has been accepted where required. The lower tier does not mean every feature is automatically available to every channel.
- A stream or channel faces monetization restrictions: Review YouTube’s channel monetization and advertiser-friendly policies, and ensure the content is suitable and rights-cleared. Do not assume that repeating a video or running continuously overrides those rules.
Run the stream yourself or use a cloud service
A self-managed setup must keep the stream source and internet connection running continuously; a computer shutdown or connection failure can interrupt it. This article does not prescribe a specific OBS, VPS, or hardware configuration, because YouTube’s monetization guidance does not establish equipment requirements for stable 24/7 operation. Whichever setup you choose, separately monitor stream continuity and confirm that public archives become VODs if you need their watch time to count.

Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo keeps a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos without leaving a computer or home connection on. The setup is: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops the uploaded video in the cloud and can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. StreamNeo is YouTube-only and plays uploaded videos; it does not stream from a camera.

Quick Recap
What to know about payouts and income estimates
No fixed India-specific earnings estimate is supported for a 24/7 stream. Actual revenue depends on the eligible monetization routes, audience and viewing, ad delivery, viewer purchases, Premium viewing, and policy status. India-specific AdSense payment thresholds and payout dates, tax treatment, and exact availability of every individual feature for every Indian channel are not established here; check current AdSense and YouTube Studio information and applicable Indian tax guidance for those questions.
