If a YouTube live stream shows a network error on BSNL broadband, first compare it on another device and another connection, then test a lower playback quality and check Wi-Fi conditions. Those checks can show whether the problem appears limited to one device, your home network, or a wider connection path—but they cannot, by themselves, prove that BSNL is at fault. YouTube’s published troubleshooting guidance is general; it does not establish a current BSNL-wide outage or a universal BSNL router or DNS fix.
Start by narrowing down where the error occurs
Write down the exact message on screen—for example, “Connection to server lost” or “Playback error. Tap to retry”—and when it appears. There is no distinct official BSNL-specific YouTube error message established here; the wording you see is more useful than assuming all cases share one cause. YouTube’s general troubleshooting guidance recommends testing another internet connection and checking whether shared network use is reducing the speed available to your device (YouTube Help: Troubleshoot YouTube video errors).
- Try another live stream. If only one stream fails, note that difference; it does not establish whether the stream or your connection is responsible.
- Try YouTube on another device connected to the same BSNL broadband. If that device works, focus first on the failing device’s app, browser, extensions, or software.
- Try the same device on another connection, such as mobile data. Be mindful of mobile-data charges. If the stream works there but not on BSNL, the problem is narrowed to the home-network or ISP path. That comparison cannot distinguish Wi-Fi, router or ONT, local congestion, routing, or an ISP fault on its own.
- Check other services and devices. If several devices or non-YouTube services also have trouble, record that pattern for BSNL support.
Check speed and reduce playback quality temporarily
Run a speed test near the device you are watching on. If possible, measure once while household traffic is quiet and again around the time the live stream fails. A speed test is a snapshot: it does not establish ongoing stability, packet loss, or a route-specific problem.
YouTube Help publishes these approximate sustained-speed recommendations for video playback. The page does not state a publication year; these are guidance figures, not guarantees for every live event or a measurement of BSNL service (YouTube Help).

In YouTube’s playback settings, lower the quality for a short test. If the error stops at a lower setting, the result suggests the stream may be struggling with available or consistent throughput; it does not identify the cause or prove that your broadband plan is deficient.
Separate Wi-Fi trouble from the broadband path
Before changing router settings or buying equipment, test the conditions that affect the Wi-Fi signal and the bandwidth available to the device:

- Move closer to the router and reduce obstructions between it and the device.
- Temporarily pause downloads and other high-bandwidth activity, or ask other household users to pause it during the test.
- If compatible Ethernet ports are available on both the device and router, compare playback over a wired connection. This is an optional diagnostic, not a required purchase. A wired test can help isolate Wi-Fi; it cannot resolve a YouTube-side or ISP-side fault.
YouTube advises improving router range, reducing interference, and minimizing use by other connected devices when connection speed is low. It also notes that “Network congestion and other factors may also cause live programming issues, which can delay the stream” (YouTube Help: Troubleshoot streaming & video issues). A live stream can therefore have congestion-related problems or delay even when a speed test looks good.
Refresh the app, browser, or device
On a computer browser
- Reload the stream and close and reopen the browser.
- Update the browser if an update is available.
- Test with extensions disabled or in a private window. If that works, re-enable extensions one at a time to identify a possible conflict.
- Clear cache and cookies if the error persists; this may sign you out of sites.
In the YouTube app or on a TV
- Close and reopen the YouTube app.
- Check for available YouTube app and device-system updates.
- Restart the device and retry the same stream.
If the issue continues, inspect the device’s network DNS settings and check whether a third-party app changed the preferred DNS servers. YouTube recommends checking DNS configuration, but does not name a public DNS address as a BSNL-specific remedy (YouTube Help). Avoid treating DNS changes, disabling IPv6, changing MTU or router mode, or using a VPN as guaranteed fixes. These are not established universal remedies for BSNL live-stream errors. If you do test a setting, change only one at a time and make sure you know how to restore the original value.

When and how to contact BSNL
If the problem persists across devices or affects more than YouTube, collect the details below before raising a complaint. A clear comparison is more actionable than reporting only that a stream buffers.
- The exact on-screen error, or a screenshot, and the date and time it occurred.
- Your city or area and BSNL service type, such as FTTH/Bharat Fiber or another broadband service.
- Whether one or several YouTube streams, devices, and non-YouTube services are affected.
- Speed-test results, the playback quality setting, and whether the issue is constant or intermittent.
- Whether Wi-Fi, wired Ethernet (if available), and another connection such as mobile data behave differently.
- Your router or ONT model and any network settings you changed, if known.
BSNL’s Contact Us page lists 1800-4444 for Bharat Fiber/landline. Check that the number and route apply to your service and location; the listed information does not establish one contact channel for every regional BSNL connection. BSNL also provides an online complaint portal and a complaint-tracking page.
