Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesOnly the relevant rights holder—or an administrator in that owner’s YouTube Studio Content Manager—can add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. If you have permission to use third-party material in a livestream, send the owner your channel URL or channel ID and ask them to add it before you go live. A license alone may not prevent YouTube from interrupting a live stream if the channel has not been allowlisted.
Who can whitelist a YouTube channel?
The Content ID owner controls its allowlist. You cannot exempt your channel from another rights holder’s Content ID claims through a setting in your ordinary YouTube Studio account. YouTube’s guidance is to ask the owner of the content to add your channel through Content ID: Copyright issues with live streams.
This is an owner-side permission for that owner’s Content ID system, not a general copyright clearance or a setting that disables YouTube’s live scanning.
What to send the rights holder
Send the owner either your channel URL or its channel ID. YouTube documents the channel ID as a 24-character alphanumeric identifier beginning with UC. Check that you are sending the URL or ID for the exact channel that will host the livestream, rather than a personal account or a different channel you manage.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Ask for confirmation that the channel has been added before the event. If several rights holders control relevant material, contact each one separately: each partner that owns the asset must add your channel to its own allowlist to prevent claims from that asset.
Steps for the rights holder to add your channel
- Sign in to YouTube Studio Content Manager using an account with the necessary access.
- Choose Allowlist from the left menu.
- Choose Add channels.
- Enter your channel ID or channel URL. For multiple channels, the documented page accepts comma-separated channel IDs.
- Choose Add, then confirm that the correct channel appears on the allowlist.
YouTube’s full instructions are on Exempt channels from Content ID claims. The owner, rather than the creator seeking permission, performs these steps.

What allowlisting does—and what it does not do
- It prevents future claims by that owner: once added, the owner will not claim videos uploaded to that channel going forward.
- It does not clear earlier claims: claims made before the channel was allowlisted are not automatically released. Ask the rights holder to separately release or otherwise resolve an existing claim. You can check claim status using YouTube’s claim-status guidance.
- It applies to channels, not individual assets: the permission is not an asset-by-asset exemption. A channel linked to the same Content Manager cannot be claimed by that manager and cannot be added to its allowlist.
- It covers only the owner that adds you: if more than one partner owns the relevant asset, each partner must allowlist your channel.
- It is not a guarantee against every copyright issue: it addresses Content ID claims from the owner that adds the channel. Other rights holders or other copyright issues may still be relevant.
Why a licensed livestream can still be interrupted
YouTube scans all livestreams for matches to third-party content, including another live broadcast. If it identifies a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder image and warn you to stop using the content. If the material continues, YouTube may temporarily interrupt or terminate the stream. YouTube specifically warns that a livestream can be interrupted even when the creator has licensed the content if the channel is not on the owner’s allowlist.
That live interruption is different from a Content ID claim on an archived broadcast. YouTube says a claim on the archived video is made after the livestream ends if you choose to archive it. Allowlisting can prevent that owner’s future claims on uploads, but it does not retroactively remove claims already made.

Allowlisting is not live Content ID matching
Live Content ID matching is a separate partner feature for finding copies of a rights holder’s own live stream. It is managed at the Content Manager level, while matching is turned on and managed by the channel that is streaming. YouTube says authorized channels intended to stream an event should be allowlisted before live matching begins.
The feature has restricted eligibility: YouTube says it requires a proven record of Content ID operation, time-sensitive content, and a high likelihood that other users will livestream copies. The partner must have global rights, and the stream cannot include third-party material such as commercials, static images, or background music. A match response may warn the streamer, replace the stream with a static image and no sound, and eventually terminate it. Live matching does not create ordinary claims during the event; an archived stream may still receive standard post-stream claims. See YouTube’s live Content ID matching guidance.

Copyright and permission checks before you go live
- Confirm that your license covers livestreaming on the specific channel and any archived replay you plan to keep.
- Get the relevant Content ID owner to confirm the channel has been allowlisted before the broadcast.
- Identify all owners of the music, footage, or other material you plan to use; one owner’s approval does not cover another owner’s rights.
- Do not treat an allowlist entry as permission to use material beyond the scope of your license.
YouTube’s Content ID reference-material rules concern rights holders who have sufficient exclusive rights in the territories where they claim ownership. YouTube describes nonexclusive licenses, open-license material, public-domain material, and other cases as ineligible reference material: Content eligible for Content ID. That eligibility context does not itself determine whether a creator has permission to use a particular work.

The owner says the channel was added, but the livestream is interrupted
Check that the allowlist entry is for the exact channel streaming the event, and verify that every relevant Content ID owner has added it. An allowlist entry from one partner does not cover co-owners. YouTube’s live scan may also identify third-party content outside the permission covered by that owner’s entry.

A claim appeared before the channel was allowlisted
Do not expect the new allowlist entry to remove it. Contact the rights holder and request a separate release or resolution, then check the claim’s status in YouTube Studio.
The owner cannot find an Allowlist option
The documented steps take place in YouTube Studio Content Manager, a partner tool. Ask the rights holder or its administrator—the party with Content Manager access—to manage the permission. A creator using an ordinary YouTube Studio account cannot add themselves to another owner’s list.
The owner asks for the channel identifier
Send the channel URL or the channel ID beginning with UC. Confirm that the identifier belongs to the channel that will actually broadcast; do not substitute a video URL or a different channel’s ID.
Or let it run in the cloud
Whitelisting is a rights-holder permission; a streaming service cannot grant it or prevent a Content ID owner from making a claim. Separately, if your event is a looping or scheduled broadcast of uploaded video, StreamNeo can keep a YouTube stream running from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. Every slot supports the uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with no re-encode or quality tiers. The first day is free with no card. Monthly service is $9.99 per month. For channels in India, UPI and cards are accepted. StreamNeo plays uploaded videos and streams to YouTube; it does not go live from a camera. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
