If your YouTube Live loop stream has no sound, first find where the audio disappears: the viewer’s device, the media file, OBS or another encoder, or YouTube’s incoming stream. Check playback on another device, then follow the audio from the loop source through the encoder to YouTube Live Control Room. The right fix depends on which step is silent.
First, check whether the problem affects one viewer or everyone
Make sure the YouTube player is not muted, then listen on another browser or device. If only one person cannot hear the stream, start with that person’s playback device and internet connection. YouTube says a problem reported by a single viewer is likely local; reports from multiple viewers on different connections point more toward the encoder or outgoing stream. YouTube’s live-stream troubleshooting guide explains this distinction.
If several viewers hear silence, check the outgoing audio path rather than changing settings on one viewer’s device.
Trace the audio from the loop source to YouTube
If you use OBS, check each link in this order. The key question is where audio stops being present—not simply whether you can hear your computer.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Play the media file locally. Confirm that the recording itself contains audible sound. A loop setting repeats playback; it cannot add an audio track that the file does not have.
- Check the OBS Audio Mixer while the loop plays. The expected source should appear and its meter should move. OBS’s Audio Mixer Guide describes the meters, mute controls and monitoring controls.
- Check the encoder output. Make a short recording or test stream with representative audio, then listen to that recording or stream. If the recording is silent, investigate the source, mute state and track routing before changing YouTube settings.
- Check YouTube Live Control Room. Look for stream-health messages and listen to the stream from a separate device. Use the exact error, if one appears, to guide the correction.
Fix a silent or incorrect loop source
OBS Media Source
Open the scene that is live and confirm the intended Media Source is present and playing the correct file. Check its file selection and the Loop option if you want playback to repeat. OBS’s Media Sources guide documents the source and loop controls. If the mixer shows no activity, test the file in a normal media player to verify it has an audio track.
OBS VLC Video source
If the loop uses a VLC Video source, confirm the playlist contains the intended files and that playback is active. Check Loop Playlist and the source’s audio-track selection; OBS documents track 1 as the default. A playlist looping correctly does not establish that its audio is present or that the intended track is selected. See OBS’s Media Sources guide.

Desktop audio or a device input
If the stream relies on desktop audio, a microphone or another audio device, check Settings → Audio in OBS and select the correct device if the default is wrong. OBS’s Quick Start Guide recommends checking for meter movement and manually selecting devices when needed. If you add a device as a scene source, avoid capturing that same device both there and globally in Settings → Audio; OBS warns that duplicate capture can cause echo. That duplication is a setup issue to check when relevant, not the usual explanation for complete silence.
Check mute, monitoring and stream-track routing
A moving mixer meter means OBS is receiving audio, but it does not prove that the audio is included in the stream. Check that the source is not muted and that the track assigned for streaming includes it. In OBS, inspect the source’s track assignments in Advanced Audio Properties and the relevant stream or output settings. If you record or send separate tracks, make sure the one enabled for streaming contains the loop source. OBS’s Multiple Audio Track Recording Guide explains track assignments; many ordinary video players play only one audio track, so a local playback check can miss audio assigned elsewhere.

Monitoring is for listening through the configured monitoring device; hearing audio there is not proof that it is reaching the outgoing stream. Conversely, a monitoring problem alone does not show that the stream is silent. Check the meter, mute state and stream-track assignment separately. OBS’s Audio Mixer Guide covers the mixer controls.
Use YouTube’s health message to identify an ingest problem
Open YouTube Live Control Room and read the stream-health status rather than guessing. Google’s Live Streaming API health-status documentation lists noAudioStream for an ingestion feed with no audio stream. YouTube says the feed must contain exactly one audio stream: “The ingestion stream does not contain any audio streams, but it must contain exactly one audio stream.” Other reported issues can identify an unsupported audio codec or audio settings that do not match the supported configuration.

Use the displayed issue to decide what to correct. If it indicates that no audio stream is being sent, return to the encoder’s source and track routing. If it identifies a codec or settings issue, check the encoder configuration against YouTube’s guidance rather than changing settings at random.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. When to check audio settings and bitrate
Audio bitrate is not a general remedy for a muted or missing source. Change format settings only when the encoder or YouTube health information points to a configuration problem. YouTube documents AAC or MP3 audio for RTMP/RTMPS ingestion; its recommended settings include 44.1 kHz for stereo audio and 128 kbps stereo. Consult YouTube’s live-stream troubleshooting guide and encoder-setting guidance when adjusting a diagnosed configuration issue. The video bitrate does not make an absent audio track audible.

Separate encoder problems from delivery problems
YouTube recommends testing before going live, monitoring stream-health messages, checking the encoder preview and inspecting a local archive for audio problems. If the encoder preview and local recording are already silent, focus on the file, input source, mute state and track assignment. If they contain audio but the delivered stream does not, examine encoder errors and the outgoing connection; YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance recommends checking the connection and contacting the ISP if testing indicates a network problem.
- No mixer activity: suspect a silent file, wrong source, inactive scene or unselected device.
- Mixer activity, silent local recording: check mute and track assignment.
- Local recording has sound, YouTube health reports an audio issue: follow the specific codec, stream or audio-setting message.
- Encoder output and health look good, but some viewers report silence: return to their player, device and connection.
