Scheduling a YouTube live stream creates the event; it does not send or loop your video. To run prerecorded videos continuously, schedule the event in YouTube Studio, then connect an encoder on a computer or a cloud service that sends the video feed using the event’s stream URL and key.
Before you schedule: enable live streaming
Your channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. If this is your first time enabling live streaming, YouTube says activation can take up to 24 hours. Complete this step before planning an event that needs to start at a specific time. YouTube’s encoder setup guide and live-streaming tips cover these requirements.
Schedule the event in YouTube Studio
- Open YouTube Studio and select Create → Go live.
- In Live Control Room, open Manage, then choose the option to schedule a stream.
- Choose to reuse settings from a previous stream or create a new event. Set its title, privacy, and scheduled start time, then save it.
- Keep the event’s stream URL and stream key available for the encoder setup. Scheduling promotes the event, but the encoder or streaming service still has to transmit the video.
Labels can change as YouTube updates Studio, but the workflow documented by YouTube is through Create, Go live, and Manage. See Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
Choose how to send the prerecorded video
Local encoder: use a computer you maintain
YouTube supports software and hardware encoders. With a local setup, the encoder runs on your computer, reads the video or playlist, and sends the live feed over your internet connection. The computer, encoder, power, and network connection must remain available for the stream to continue. A hardware encoder is optional; YouTube also documents software encoder workflows. Choose a setup that can play the file or playlist continuously and keep the connection live for the full event.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Hosted service: let a cloud encoder send the feed
A hosted service can run a continuous prerecorded-video stream without relying on a computer at home to transmit it. YouTube’s verified encoder information lists Gyre as a cloud-based option for 24/7 prerecorded-video streaming. That listing establishes the stated use case, not a comparison of current prices, service reliability, plan limits, or guarantees. Check a provider’s current terms and features before choosing it.
For either approach, confirm that the setup supports your intended playlist and duration, how it handles connection failures, how you can monitor stream health, and how you will retain an archive. Keep the stream key private whichever option you use.

Connect the encoder and start the scheduled stream
- Open the scheduled event in Live Control Room and copy its stream URL and stream key into the corresponding encoder fields. The URL identifies where the feed is sent; the key lets YouTube accept it. Treat the key like a password: do not publish it or share it casually. YouTube explains stream keys in its encoder setup guide and stream key guidance.
- Load the prerecorded video or playlist into your encoder and configure it to send a continuous feed. The encoder or hosted service, not the scheduled event, is responsible for looping and transmitting the content.
- Start the encoder before the scheduled event. YouTube recommends starting at least 15 minutes early so you can check that the feed reaches Live Control Room and inspect its preview and stream quality.
- When the preview is ready and the event is due, select Go live in Live Control Room if required for your event workflow. A scheduled time alone does not confirm that a healthy feed is arriving.
- Monitor the audio, video, and stream health throughout the broadcast. YouTube’s guidance is to “Continuously monitor streams for audio and video quality.” See YouTube live streaming tips.
Plan the archive and content rights
Do not rely on a complete archive for a stream over 12 hours
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its guidance does not establish that a single stream longer than 12 hours will be fully archived, so plan a separate recording or other archive process if you need a complete copy of a longer nonstop broadcast. YouTube’s encoder guide describes the archive limit.
Use content you have the right to stream
A scheduled event and a continuous encoder do not grant permission to use the video, music, or other material in the feed. Before going live, confirm that you own or have permission to use the material and that it complies with YouTube’s rules. Repeated or unauthorized material can create copyright or channel-policy problems; consult YouTube’s current guidance and review your content before setting a long stream running.

Troubleshoot common setup problems
- You cannot start a live stream: verify the channel and check for a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. If live streaming was only just enabled, allow up to 24 hours for activation.
- The event is scheduled but no preview appears: scheduling does not transmit video. Start the encoder, check that it is pointed at this event’s stream URL, and confirm the stream key is entered correctly.
- YouTube is not accepting the feed: recheck the event’s URL and key, and ensure you have not pasted a key from a different event. If you suspect the key was exposed, manage or replace it through YouTube Studio rather than continuing to use a compromised credential.
- The preview appears but the stream is not live: check the scheduled time and complete the Go live step in Live Control Room when the workflow requires it. Inspect stream health before relying on the event as a nonstop broadcast.
- Audio or video becomes poor or stops: check the encoder output and the computer’s power and network if using a local setup; for a hosted service, check its status and recovery controls. Monitor the incoming feed rather than assuming a running event means the media is healthy.
- You need a full recording of a very long broadcast: use an archive plan beyond YouTube’s documented automatic archiving for streams under 12 hours.
