More than two-thirds of 1,458 Pixel-owning readers in an Android Authority poll said they had noticed new problems after installing Android 17 QPR1. That makes the complaints worth paying attention to—but it does not mean two-thirds of Pixel owners overall are affected. The poll was self-selected, and its results reflect what respondents reported, not independently verified causes.
What the Android Authority poll found
Android Authority’s poll asked Pixel-owning readers: “Do you have any new problems on your Pixel after installing Android 17 QPR1?” It had been running for a couple of weeks when reporter Taylor Kerns published the results on September 30, 2026. Of 1,458 responses counted, more than two-thirds said they had noticed new problems; nearly one-third selected the response that they had experienced no new issues. Android Authority’s report described QPR1 as having started rolling out earlier that month.
| Reported response | Share of poll responses |
|---|---|
| Performance problems | About 19% |
| Unexpected UI behavior | 16% |
| Display glitches | 14% |
| Connectivity trouble | Just over 11% |
| Other problems | About 7% |
| No new issues | Nearly one-third |
These are the percentages reported in Android Authority’s poll article, not results from a representative survey or a count of confirmed software defects. The reported problem categories describe respondents’ selections and attributions; they do not prove that QPR1 caused each symptom. The largest reported category was performance, followed by unexpected UI behavior, display glitches, and connectivity trouble.
How much should Pixel owners read into the results?
The poll establishes that many Android Authority readers who chose to respond noticed problems after the update. It does not establish the share of all Pixel owners affected: readers opted into the poll, and the responses were not presented as a representative sample. As Kerns cautioned, “That doesn’t necessarily mean that two-thirds of Pixel users generally are having problems, though.”

Nor does the poll show a single common technical cause. Kerns also described personal experience with a Pixel 9 Pro, but that anecdote is not independent testing or evidence that other models will behave the same way. No population-level statistic about all Pixel owners, or official Google statement confirming the stable-update complaints, is established by the cited material.
What the available reports do—and do not—show
Google’s GSI notes are for developers
Google’s Android Developers page covers Android 17 QPR1 Generic System Images (GSIs), experimental builds intended for developer testing and validation—not ordinary consumer use. Its listed GSI-specific issues include a reboot failure that may occur on some devices and a possible limit on dynamic system partition size. Those notes concern GSI images; they do not confirm the reported complaints about the regular Pixel update. Read Google’s QPR1 GSI release notes.

Battery-drain reports remain individual reports
A September 16, 2026, post in the Google Pixel Community describes one user’s experience of heavier battery drain after QPR1. It is useful as an example of a reported symptom, but it does not establish how common the problem is or confirm its cause. View the Pixel Community post.

The available reports do not establish a verified fix that works for every symptom or device. If you seek help, make your report specific enough for someone else to distinguish your case from a general post-update complaint:

- For battery drain, note the change you observed and the circumstances; avoid treating one report as proof of a confirmed QPR1-wide fault.
These details can make a support request clearer, but they are not a guaranteed remedy. Google’s instruction to attach a full bug report and identify GSI use applies specifically to developers reporting issues with a GSI build; it is not a general consumer fix.
