Public GTA 6 footage shows a context-sensitive HUD with health, stamina and focus meters, plus a minimap, wanted display and weapon information. Their broad purposes can be identified, but Rockstar has not published a complete icon guide or confirmed the exact rules behind each meter. Treat the layout and mechanics described here as what appears in the footage—not a guarantee of the final design.
What is confirmed about the GTA 6 HUD?
Rockstar’s official pages list the Extended Look video, but do not provide a full HUD manual or icon specification. The interface details below come from public footage and reporting about it. That distinction matters: a symbol may be visible and its likely purpose understandable even when its precise gameplay effects are not officially documented. Rockstar’s GTA VI page and its video page establish the official footage, not a complete glossary.
What do the health, stamina, focus and oxygen meters mean?
| HUD element | What it appears to indicate | What is not established |
|---|---|---|
| Health | A heart-associated bar represents the character’s health, as identified in secondary coverage. TechRadar’s HUD coverage | Exact values, regeneration thresholds and upgrade rules are not specified in the official pages reviewed. |
| Stamina | An energy or lightning-associated meter is identified as stamina. Beebom associates depletion with sprinting, cycling and other physical activity. Beebom’s icon guide | Exact activity costs, recovery behavior and upgrade rules are not confirmed. |
| Focus | A meter appears in the upper-left HUD. TechRadar describes footage where gameplay slows after Jason uses it, suggesting a special focus effect. | The footage and reporting do not establish a complete list of effects, a final resource rule or a definitive connection to aiming or target highlighting. |
| Oxygen | Beebom interprets an oxygen meter as appearing in scuba or underwater contexts. | This is a secondary guide’s reading of the footage, not an official specification of how oxygen behaves. |
These meters make their broad purposes legible, but their appearance alone does not establish how quickly they fill or empty, how they recover, or whether they can be upgraded.
What do the wanted stars and icons underneath mean?
The Extended Look is reported to show a wanted display reaching six stars. Reporting describes the smaller icons beneath it as clues to what police have recognized about the protagonists: their clothing, faces, vehicle and the fact that they are together. The stars communicate wanted status; the lower icons appear to communicate identifying information, rather than acting as additional wanted levels. GamesRadar+’s wanted-system report
#1 Best Overall
Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson is quoted by GamesRadar+ as saying: “The wanted system in GTA 6 requires that someone witness the crime, or an alarm needs to be set off for it to be reported to the law.” That statement describes how a crime is reported; the interpretation of the icons beneath the stars comes from the footage and reporting.
Where are the minimap, weapon and ammo indicators?
The footage and coverage show a minimap, a weapon wheel, weapon and ammunition information, and an icon for the equipped weapon. These elements provide navigation and combat information alongside the meters and wanted display. TechRadar describes the overall presentation as cleaner than GTA V’s; that is a visual comparison, not confirmation of a particular HUD setting or a final interface configuration. Are these icons and HUD positions final?
No complete, official icon glossary or final customization specification is available in the cited Rockstar pages. The footage is useful evidence of what appeared in the Extended Look, but it does not establish that every icon, position, meter rule or interface detail will remain unchanged. There is also no basis here for comparing officially documented HUD modes or icon variants.
