To create a coupon popup for a WooCommerce store, first create and publish the coupon in WooCommerce, then use a popup tool to display it. The popup presents the offer; the coupon’s discount, expiry and restrictions determine what customers can actually redeem. For a simple display, WooCommerce’s Splash Popup extension is one documented route. For email signup and individual codes, use a workflow built for that instead.
1. Create the WooCommerce coupon first
In WordPress, open Marketing → Coupons and create a coupon. Enter a code or generate one, choose a discount type, set its amount and publish it. WooCommerce supports percentage discounts, fixed-cart discounts and fixed-product discounts. Its coupon management documentation explains that customers enter codes in the cart or at checkout.
Before you promote the code, set any conditions that shape the offer:
- Expiry date, minimum or maximum spend, or eligible products and categories
- Allowed customer email addresses or a limit on the number of uses
- Whether the coupon can be used individually rather than combined with other coupons
Make the popup’s wording match these rules. WooCommerce has built-in coupon creation and management, but it does not automatically apply a code for customers; delivering or applying a code through marketing requires an additional workflow.

2. Display an existing coupon with WooCommerce Splash Popup
WooCommerce documents a store-native popup workflow through its Splash Popup extension. This is an extension, not a menu guaranteed to appear in every core WooCommerce installation; install it and check its current compatibility and instructions for your site.
- In the WordPress admin, go to WooCommerce → Popups and choose Add new.
- Build the content in the WordPress block editor or select the Coupon code template. The documented template choices also include Newsletter signup, Flash sale, Feedback, Exit intent and Free shipping.
- Open Conditions to choose the visitors and pages or store contexts where the popup can appear. The documented options include all visitors, signed-in users or logged-out visitors, and contexts such as shop, cart and checkout.
- Configure Triggers, Schedule and Appearance so the popup appears at the intended time and place.
- Review the code, discount terms and audience, set Status to Published, and save.
If more than one popup matches a visitor and page, the extension uses priority: the lower priority number wins. Check which popup takes precedence when campaigns overlap.

3. Choose a different tool if the offer needs signup or targeting
A static popup shows an existing coupon to visitors. A signup campaign captures an email address and may generate an individual code for each subscriber. Those are different jobs, so choose a tool based on the offer you intend to run.

Signup forms and unique codes
The Popup Coupon Generator for WooCommerce listing describes a flow in which a triggered popup collects a signup and the visitor receives a unique WooCommerce coupon. Its setup uses a plugin popup, display rules, a built-in subscription form or form shortcode, and an email automation. The listing says email is sent through WordPress’s wp_mail(); that alone does not establish successful delivery, so configure and check email delivery separately.

Coupon widgets
Coupon X’s WordPress.org listing describes discount popup widgets, code generation, triggers and device targeting, with integration for existing WooCommerce coupons when WooCommerce is installed. Treat it as an option to assess against your needs and compatibility—not as a proven conversion winner.
External campaign service

Check plan and site requirements before relying on its features. OptinMonster says WordPress.com users need a Business or eCommerce subscription to use plugins, and its guide says advanced WooCommerce targeting requires a Growth subscription. These requirements can change, so confirm the current terms. To troubleshoot a campaign that is published but not showing, check both its display rules and its WordPress Output Settings; the integration guide says both must be satisfied.

- Confirm the coupon is published, unexpired and limited to the intended products, customers, spend or number of uses.
- Make the displayed discount and important restrictions clear so the popup does not promise more than the coupon delivers.
- Check the page, audience, trigger and schedule. Avoid interrupting checkout unless that placement serves a clear purpose.
- Preview the popup on a phone-sized screen; confirm the coupon text and close control are usable.
- Test the code in the cart or checkout using an order that meets its restrictions.
- If the popup collects email addresses, explain what visitors are signing up for and use a consent mechanism appropriate to your site and jurisdiction.
