How to Print Screen a Scrolling Web Page on Windows, iPhone, and Android

To capture a whole webpage instead of only the part on screen, use a full-page or scrolling screenshot feature. In Microsoft Edge, open Screenshot with Ctrl+Shift+S and choose the full-page option; in Firefox, choose Take Screenshot and then Save full page. On iPhone, choose Full Page in the screenshot preview. On Android 12 and later, take a screenshot and tap Capture more on most scrollable screens. The steps depend on your device and browser, and an ordinary screenshot shortcut alone usually captures only the visible screen.

What a scrolling screenshot captures

A regular screenshot records the visible screen. A full-page or scrolling capture extends beyond the screen’s edge to include content further down the page, usually as one tall image. Some built-in tools let you crop, mark up, copy, or save the result. The available options vary by browser, device, and operating system.

First identify where you are viewing the page: a desktop browser, Safari on an iPhone, or an Android phone. Then use the matching instructions below. If you only need the displayed area, the ordinary screenshot is simpler; use a full-page feature when you need what is above and below the fold.

Capture a full page in Microsoft Edge

Microsoft documents Edge’s Screenshot feature as able to capture a full webpage, including portions outside the visible screen. Its result can be marked up, copied, or saved. The feature’s availability and functionality can vary by device type, market, and browser version, so the name or location may differ.

#1 Best Overall
  1. Open the webpage in Edge.
  2. Press Ctrl+Shift+S, or open Screenshot from the page’s right-click menu or Edge Settings.
  3. Choose the full-page capture option.
  4. Review the capture. Add markup if needed, then copy or save it.

If the shortcut does not open Screenshot, try the right-click menu or Settings. If you cannot find the full-page option, check whether the feature is available in your version and on your device.

Capture a full page in Firefox

Firefox’s built-in screenshot interface distinguishes a full-page capture from the visible area. It also includes a region-selection mode.

  1. Open the webpage in Firefox.
  2. Right-click an empty part of the page and select Take Screenshot. Alternatively, use Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+S on macOS.
  3. Select Save full page.
  4. Select Download to save a PNG in Firefox’s default download folder, or select Copy to put the image on the clipboard.

Choose Save visible if you only want the current screen, or use the selection interface to capture a specific region. Mozilla notes that crosshair movement does not work on Wayland; that limitation applies to the selection interface and does not establish that all full-page capture fails there.

Capture a full page in Chrome

A reported Chrome desktop route uses DevTools’ command menu and the command Capture full size screenshot. The precise current procedure and availability are not confirmed by current official Chrome help in the documentation available for this guide. Treat the command name as version-sensitive and check the DevTools interface in your installed version.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Open the page in Chrome and open DevTools.
  2. Open the DevTools command menu and search for Capture full size screenshot.
  3. If the command appears, select it and check the resulting file before relying on it.

If the command is missing or the steps differ, do not assume the usual screenshot shortcut will capture the whole document. If staying in Chrome is not essential, Edge and Firefox document built-in full-page screenshot workflows.

Take a scrolling screenshot on iPhone

Apple describes Full Page in the screenshot preview for capturing content beyond the screen’s edge, with an entire Safari webpage as an example. This is not documented as a universal mode for every app or browser.

  1. On an iPhone without a Home button, quickly press and release the side button and volume-up button together. On an iPhone with a Home button, quickly press and release Home and the side button together.
  2. When the screenshot thumbnail appears, tap it.
  3. In the preview, choose Full Page. Use the crop controls to trim the capture or markup tools to annotate it if needed.
  4. Save or share using the screenshot interface.

If the Full Page option is not available, the current screen or app may not offer that capture mode. Apple’s documented example is an entire webpage in Safari; do not assume every app exposes it.

Use Capture more on Android

Google documents scrolling capture on Android 12 and later for most screens that allow scrolling. Phone makers can change screenshot controls, and the method is not guaranteed to work in every app.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Open the scrollable screen you want to capture.
  2. Press Power and Volume down together.
  3. Tap Capture more at the bottom of the screen.
  4. Adjust the crop guidelines to include the content you need.

If the standard buttons or Capture more option are missing, consult your phone maker’s support instructions. Google specifically qualifies this feature for Android 12 and later and most scrollable screens.

Choose the method that fits the job

Where you are capturing Full-page route What the documented workflow offers Important limit
Microsoft Edge on desktop Screenshot, then full-page option Markup, copy, or save Availability and functionality can vary by device, market, and browser version.
Firefox on desktop Take Screenshot, then Save full page PNG download or clipboard copy; also Save visible and region selection Crosshair movement does not work on Wayland; this note concerns selection.
Chrome on desktop DevTools command menu; search for Capture full size screenshot Command is reported in search-result how-tos Exact current steps and availability are not confirmed by current official Chrome help here.
Safari webpage on iPhone Screenshot preview, then Full Page Crop, markup, save, or share through the screenshot interface Apple gives a Safari webpage as an example, not a universal mode for every app.
Android 12 and later Screenshot, then Capture more Adjust crop guidelines to choose content Google says most scrollable screens; manufacturer controls may differ.

For a desktop browser, Edge and Firefox have documented built-in routes in the instructions above. On a phone, start with the operating system’s screenshot preview and look for the named full-page or scrolling control. If it is absent, the app or device may not support the feature in that context.

Common problems and what to try

  • The screenshot only shows the visible area: You may have used the ordinary screenshot command or selected a visible-area option. Return to the browser or phone capture interface and choose its full-page, scrolling, or Capture more option.
  • The full-page option is missing in Edge: Microsoft says feature availability and functionality can vary. Try Screenshot from another documented entry point—shortcut, right-click menu, or Settings—and check the browser version and device.
  • Firefox opens a selection interface instead: Choose Save full page for the entire document. Use Save visible only for the current screen; region selection is for a specific area.
  • Firefox’s crosshair will not move on Wayland: Mozilla documents this limitation for crosshair movement in the selection interface. It should not be generalized to mean every full-page screenshot fails.
  • Chrome has no matching DevTools command: The reported command may vary by Chrome version or may not be available in your interface. Check the command menu; if you need a documented built-in route, use Edge or Firefox instead.
  • iPhone does not show Full Page: The documented example is a Safari webpage, not every app or browser. Check that you opened the screenshot preview and that the content is in a supported context.
  • Android does not show Capture more: Google’s general instructions apply to Android 12 and later and most scrollable screens, not all combinations of phone and app. Check the manufacturer’s support guidance for the device’s screenshot controls.

Automate webpage captures with an API

If you need webpage screenshots in a script or application rather than a manual phone or browser capture, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server for developers. It accepts a URL in one GET request and returns a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. This is a different workflow from printing a page on your device: it is useful when you want to request captures programmatically or let an AI agent call screenshot tools.

The following cURL request saves a WebP screenshot of the example URL. Replace the URL with the page you want to capture and set your API key. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options.

ScreenshotNeo accepts the parameter names used by other screenshot APIs, which can make switching easier. Its options include full-page capture with lazy images loaded, selecting an element by CSS selector, device and viewport settings, dark mode, PDF output, custom CSS and JavaScript, waiting for a selector or network idle, and blocking selected requests or resource types. It also supports custom headers, cookies, user agents, timezone and geolocation, caching with a chosen TTL, signed links, asynchronous jobs with signed webhooks, bulk capture of up to 100 URLs per call, and a usage API. Each option is not needed for a simple one-off capture; use only the settings required by your workflow.

ScreenshotNeo accepts cookie or consent banners like a visitor and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each of those steps can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and response headers report the page verdict and whether the request was billed. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients. The Free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots. Every feature is on every plan.
