To capture a long tweet—now called a post on X—open the individual post first, then use your device or browser’s scrolling capture feature. On iPhone, Safari can save a full webpage as an image or PDF; on Android 12 and later, use the scrolling screenshot control when the screen supports it; in Microsoft Edge, choose Capture full page. If your app view does not offer a full-page option, save a sequence of overlapping screenshots and keep the original post link with the images.
Start with the post’s detail page
In X, click or tap the post in your timeline to open its post detail page. This gives you the post’s own URL, replies and surrounding context instead of a cropped timeline card. X’s help documentation describes this detail-page behavior at How to Post.
- Open X and locate the post.
- Select the post itself, not just the account or a preview image.
- Wait for all visible text and media to load.
- Copy the post link if you may share the screenshot separately.
Long posts are an X Premium feature and can be composed on iOS, Android or desktop, but account eligibility and interface labels can change. Reader Mode can make threads easier to read; X documents it as a reading aid, not as an image-export tool.
iPhone: save a full-page capture in Safari
Apple’s current iPhone guide documents Full Page capture for content beyond the screen, using an entire Safari webpage as the example. It does not promise the same control for every screen inside the X app.

- Open the post’s web URL in Safari. If you are in the X app, use its share menu to copy the link, then paste it into Safari.
- Take a normal screenshot: press the side button and volume-up button together (or the Home and side/top buttons on older models).
- Tap the screenshot preview in the lower-left corner before it disappears.
- Choose Full Page at the top of the editor.
- Scroll the preview to check that the post begins and ends where you expect.
- Tap the share button and save it as an image or PDF, depending on the options shown by your iOS version.
If Full Page is absent, Safari is not treating that view as a supported webpage capture, or the page has not loaded as a continuous document. Use the sequence method below instead. Apple’s instructions are at Take a screenshot on iPhone.
iPhone readability checks
- Zoom the saved image before posting to ensure small text is legible.
- Keep the display name, account handle and post date visible when context matters.
- Use PDF when a very tall image becomes difficult to view or share.
Android: use scrolling screenshot
Google says scrolling screenshots work on Android 12 and later on most screens that allow scrolling. Button names and placement vary by manufacturer, so look for a control such as Capture more, Scroll or Scrolling screenshot in the screenshot preview. See Google’s instructions at Take a screenshot or record your screen on your Android device.
- Open the individual post in the X app or in your mobile browser.
- Take a screenshot using your phone’s normal shortcut (commonly Power plus Volume Down).
- In the preview toolbar, tap the scrolling or capture-more button if it appears.
- Extend the selection until the entire post is included.
- Save the result and inspect the joins, text and media.
Some X app screens, embedded browsers and manufacturer interfaces do not expose scrolling capture. If the control is missing or the result stops early, consult your phone maker’s support instructions and use overlapping screenshots.

Desktop browser: capture the whole page in Microsoft Edge
For a post opened as a webpage in Microsoft Edge, press Ctrl+Shift+S, then select Capture full page. Edge lets you save or copy the capture. Microsoft notes that this function can vary by device, market and browser version; its documentation is at Screenshot Tool in Microsoft Edge.

- Open the post detail URL in Edge and wait for text, images and any quoted post to load.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+S.
- Choose Capture full page, rather than the visible-area option.
- Review the resulting page-length image.
- Save it or copy it into an editor for annotation.
Dynamic pages may load additional content while you scroll. If the capture omits the end of the post, scroll through it once first, wait for loading to finish, and repeat the command.
When full-page capture is missing: make a reliable sequence
A normal screenshot sequence is the fallback for unsupported app views, older devices and pages that do not stitch correctly.

- Start at the top of the post and capture the first screen.
- Scroll by a small, consistent amount so each screenshot overlaps the previous one by several lines.
- Keep the same zoom level and orientation throughout.
- Continue until the final sentence, media and context are visible.
- Rename files in order, such as
post-01.png,post-02.pngandpost-03.png. - Before sharing, verify that no sentence is missing at a join and that every image is readable.
Overlap is more useful than trying to align screenshots perfectly: it lets readers follow the text even when the page shifts slightly. For a very long post, combine the sequence into a PDF or a vertically stitched image, but retain the individual originals in case an editor needs to inspect them.
Image context, accessibility and changing posts
A screenshot is a static record. X warns in its WhatsApp-sharing guidance that shared content may not reflect the post’s current state. Include the original post URL whenever readers need to verify wording, edits, replies or account status.

Troubleshooting
The capture stops halfway
The page may still be loading, or the app view may not support scrolling capture. Open the post in Safari, Edge or another full webpage view, scroll through it once, then retry. Otherwise use overlapping screenshots.

Reduce browser zoom slightly, wait for images and quoted posts to finish loading, and capture again. Check the final image rather than assuming the tool included content below the viewport.
The post is behind a login prompt
A private, deleted or login-gated post cannot be represented reliably by a public URL. Sign in only on a device you control and follow X’s terms; do not distribute content that the account owner has restricted.
