Yes—Samsung Quick Share can now run on some Windows laptops and desktops made by Lenovo, Dell, HP, ASUS, Acer, MSI and other brands. Samsung’s version is not universal, however. The PC must meet Samsung’s Windows, Intel Bluetooth and Intel Wi‑Fi driver requirements. If it does not, Google’s separate Quick Share for Windows is usually the better option.
What changed
Samsung’s Windows Quick Share experience was initially associated mainly with Galaxy Book computers. Samsung now lists Quick Share for selected PCs from other manufacturers and distributes the app through the Microsoft Store (Samsung’s support page).
This is an expansion, not unrestricted support for every Windows computer. Samsung’s compatibility wording specifically depends on supported Intel Bluetooth and Wi‑Fi hardware and drivers. An Intel processor by itself is not enough.
There are also two Windows apps with the Quick Share name: Samsung’s client and Google’s client. They serve similar Android-to-Windows transfer needs but have different distribution and compatibility rules.

Samsung Quick Share requirements
Samsung’s current requirements for a non-Galaxy Windows PC are:
- Windows 10 version 2004 (build 19041) or later.
- Intel Bluetooth driver version 22.50.02 or later.
- Intel Wi‑Fi driver version 22.50.07 or later.
- Bluetooth and Wi‑Fi enabled.
- Supported Intel Bluetooth and Wi‑Fi hardware or drivers.
Samsung warns that some computer models may provide only partial or restricted functionality. For Samsung Galaxy-device support, the phone or tablet must run Android 10 or later with One UI 2.1 or later, according to Samsung’s documentation.
Samsung lists Galaxy Books, including Qualcomm-based Galaxy PCs released in 2020 or later, separately. That does not establish support for Qualcomm wireless hardware in a third-party laptop.
Samsung Quick Share or Google Quick Share?
| Situation | Best first choice | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Galaxy Book with a Galaxy phone | Samsung Quick Share | Samsung’s first-party integration. |
| Non-Samsung PC with the required Intel adapters and drivers | Samsung Quick Share | It follows Samsung’s supported third-party path. |
| AMD, MediaTek, Qualcomm or otherwise unsupported wireless hardware | Google Quick Share for Windows | Google’s client has broader Windows hardware coverage. |
| Windows on ARM | Google Quick Share, on Windows 11 | Google specifies Windows 11 or later for ARM-based PCs. |
Samsung Quick Share for Windows
Install Samsung’s Microsoft Store app when you have a Galaxy Book or a non-Samsung PC that passes Samsung’s Intel requirements. Samsung directs Samsung PCs to this version.

Google Quick Share for Windows
Google’s client supports 64-bit Windows 10 and later; ARM-based PCs require Windows 11. It is generally the safer first choice for a non-Samsung PC that does not meet Samsung’s Intel-driver rules. Download it from Google’s Quick Share support page or its official Windows download page.
Google advises using a standard, guest or child Windows account rather than running the app as administrator. A Google Account can be used for additional options but is not presented as a purchase requirement.
Check your PC before installing Samsung’s app
- Right-click Start and open Device Manager.
- Expand Bluetooth, open the Bluetooth adapter’s properties and select Driver. Record the provider, device name and version.
- Expand Network adapters, open the wireless adapter’s properties and check its Driver tab.
- Confirm that both adapters are Intel devices and that the versions meet Samsung’s minimums: Bluetooth 22.50.02 and Wi‑Fi 22.50.07.
- Check Settings > System > About to confirm the Windows edition and version.
Device Manager labels vary by Windows edition and manufacturer. A PC can have an Intel Wi‑Fi adapter but a non-Intel Bluetooth adapter, which fails Samsung’s combined requirement. Windows Update may also offer different driver versions from those on the laptop manufacturer’s support site.
Install and transfer with Samsung Quick Share
- Open the Microsoft Store and search for Quick Share by Samsung.
- Confirm that the publisher is Samsung Electronics, then install the app.
- Open Quick Share and allow Bluetooth and Wi‑Fi access.
- Set the PC’s visibility and receiving permissions so the phone can discover it.
- On the Galaxy phone or tablet, select the files and tap Share > Quick Share.
- Select the Windows PC and accept the incoming transfer on the computer if prompted.
Samsung documents nearby sharing as selecting files, tapping the Share icon, choosing Quick Share and selecting a nearby device.

- Enable Bluetooth and Wi‑Fi, or Ethernet where applicable, on the PC and phone.
- Keep both devices nearby.
- On Android, select the files and tap Share > Quick Share.
- Choose the Windows computer and approve the request on the PC.
Google says Quick Share transfers are encrypted and that recipients approve incoming files.
What you can send—and what you cannot
Samsung lists images, videos, audio, text documents and PDFs among common supported categories. Its restrictions include executable and installer extensions such as .exe, .com, .bat, .cmd, .vbs, .reg and .msi. Do not assume every arbitrary file type will pass through Samsung’s client.
For a blocked file, use a USB cable, a local network share, LocalSend, cloud storage or a compressed archive when the file itself—not its contents—is the issue.
Nearby transfer, link sharing and privacy limits
Samsung documents different limits for different modes, so they should not be treated as universal limits on every nearby transfer:

| Mode | Documented limits or requirements |
|---|---|
| QR-code or contact link sharing | Up to 1,000 files at once, 3 GB per file and 5 GB per day; generated links expire after two days. The sender needs a Samsung account, and both parties need an internet connection. |
| Private Sharing | Galaxy devices only; up to 20 files or 200 MB at a time. It is not a general method for sending files to a non-Samsung Windows PC. |
| Nearby device-to-device transfer | Use the devices’ discovery and local-network path; the link-sharing limits above do not automatically apply. |
Samsung recommends Private Sharing for sensitive or confidential files, but its Galaxy-device restriction makes it unsuitable for a general Windows-PC workflow.
How Quick Share uses your network
Bluetooth handles discovery while Wi‑Fi or Ethernet carries the transfer path, so both functions matter even when the PC is connected by cable. Google’s documented conditions include enabled Bluetooth, Wi‑Fi or Ethernet, devices within roughly 5 metres (16 feet), and the same network where applicable. BLE Extended Advertising can affect discoverability on some networks.
Corporate, school, hotel and guest networks may isolate devices. VPNs, firewalls, endpoint-security software and managed Windows policies can also interfere. Availability varies by country; Google lists Cuba, Iran, North Korea and Syria as unavailable regions for Quick Share for Windows.

The PC does not appear
- Make sure Quick Share is installed and running on both devices.
- Turn on Bluetooth and Wi‑Fi.
- Move the devices close together.
- Set phone visibility to Contacts only or Anyone nearby, as appropriate, and allow receiving on the PC.
- Leave an isolated guest or corporate network and test on a normal private network.
- Check Windows notifications and Focus Assist; Google identifies notification settings as a reason a request may not appear.
- Restart Bluetooth, then restart both devices.
- Update or reinstall the Wi‑Fi and Bluetooth drivers.
Samsung says the PC is unsupported
Check the exact adapters and driver versions rather than the processor brand. Common causes are non-Intel wireless hardware, an old Intel driver, Windows below version 2004, a manufacturer restriction or an unsupported USB Wi‑Fi/Bluetooth combination. Install Google Quick Share instead; if that also fails, use LocalSend or a cable.

The transfer starts but stalls
- Test a stronger Wi‑Fi connection and disable VPNs temporarily.
- Check firewall and endpoint-security rules.
- Prevent the laptop from sleeping or powering down its wireless adapters.
- Keep the PC unlocked and available for confirmation.
- Remove a second Quick Share client temporarily if both Samsung and Google versions are installed.
- Try a smaller file to distinguish a connection problem from a file-type or stability problem.
Neither Samsung nor Google establishes a universal transfer speed; results depend on hardware, network conditions and the surrounding environment.
The wrong app was installed
Use Samsung Quick Share from the Microsoft Store on Samsung PCs. For most other Windows PCs, start with Google Quick Share unless the machine meets Samsung’s Intel requirements. Avoid modified installers, compatibility scripts and unofficial repackaged builds.
Alternatives when Quick Share is not a fit
| Tool | Best for | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| LocalSend | Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS transfers on a local network without accounts or third-party servers. | Every device needs the separate app. |
| Microsoft Phone Link | Messages, calls, notifications, apps and recent photos alongside file access. | It is broader phone integration, not a simple cross-platform transfer tool; pairing requires Microsoft’s supported Windows and Android versions. |
| AirDroid | File management, remote control and device-management features. | More complex than a lightweight local transfer utility. |
| USB cable or a local network share | Confidential or very large files and predictable transfers. | Less convenient than nearby discovery. |
Do not buy a Samsung laptop solely to obtain Quick Share. Check the existing PC’s wireless compatibility first, then try Google Quick Share or LocalSend. A new laptop makes sense only for a separate performance, battery, repairability or operating-system reason.
The Bottom Line
Samsung Quick Share now reaches selected non-Samsung Windows PCs, but Samsung’s Intel Bluetooth and Wi‑Fi requirements still decide compatibility. Use Samsung’s app when those requirements are met; use Google Quick Share for broader Windows support, and LocalSend, a cable or a network share when you need cross-platform or account-free reliability.
