Intel configurations paired 12th-generation Core H-series processors with GeForce RTX 3050 or RTX 3050 Ti graphics, 16GB of DDR5 memory, a 512GB PCIe 4.0 SSD and a 16-inch 2560×1600, 165Hz display. A Ryzen 5 6600H version followed in September 2022 at an introductory ¥6,299. These are historical China-market prices, not confirmed U.S. retail prices or current 2026 availability.
What Xiaomi announced
Redmi is Xiaomi’s consumer brand, and “Redmi G 2022” describes a product family rather than one fixed specification. The Intel model entered Chinese pre-sale on July 21, 2022, before full-channel sales began on July 27. Xiaomi later added a Ryzen edition on September 16, 2022.
The official product page remains available at Xiaomi’s Redmi G 2022 page, but an accessible product page does not establish current inventory, warranty support or an official launch in the United States.

These prices were reported for the July 27 Chinese retail launch by IT Home. They should not be converted into a supposed U.S. MSRP. The i5-12450H and i7-12650H also are not the same processors as the higher-core-count Core i5-12500H and Core i7-12700H. Launch coverage specifically noted that the Redmi’s chips had fewer efficiency cores than those alternatives.

Specifications are compiled from the launch reports at IT Home, the Intel pricing announcement and the Ryzen announcement. Exact port layouts and other details can vary between Intel and Ryzen models.
The 16-inch display was the headline feature
The Intel Redmi G 2022 was advertised with a 16-inch 2560×1600 panel, 16:10 aspect ratio and 165Hz refresh rate. Xiaomi’s listed claims included up to 500 nits brightness, 10-bit color, 100% sRGB coverage, Delta E below 1.5, a 3ms response time, approximately 91% screen-to-body ratio, G-Sync support and TÜV Rheinland low-blue-light certification. The Ryzen launch materials additionally cited HDR 400 and 1.07 billion colors.
Those figures are product specifications, not independent measurements. They do not by themselves establish brightness uniformity, real ghosting performance, color accuracy in every unit or useful HDR behavior. The display’s 165Hz refresh rate can make esports games and everyday window movement feel smoother, but the RTX 3050-class GPUs may not render demanding games at native 2560×1600 with maximum settings.

What the RTX graphics mean for gaming
Competitive and lighter games
RTX 3050 and RTX 3050 Ti laptop GPUs are suited to many esports and older games, where lower settings or a reduced render resolution can make good use of a 165Hz panel.

Newer AAA titles place a much heavier load on these entry-level-to-lower-midrange laptop GPUs. Players may need to reduce quality settings, use 1920×1200 or 1920×1080 rendering, or enable an upscaling mode such as DLSS where a game supports it.
Ray tracing and output modes
Xiaomi advertised ray tracing, DLSS and a direct-discrete-GPU output mode. Actual frame rates depend on the GPU’s configured power limit, cooling profile, drivers and each game’s settings. No standardized independent benchmark results for this specific laptop are established here, so the specifications should not be treated as a guaranteed performance level.

Memory, storage and expansion
The reported baseline was 16GB of DDR5-4800 and a 512GB PCIe 4.0 SSD. Half a terabyte can fill quickly after Windows, applications and several large games are installed. Launch coverage reported an additional storage-expansion provision, but it did not establish that the RAM or SSD is user-upgradable in every regional configuration. Check a service manual or the exact machine before buying a replacement drive.
Ports, connectivity and chassis features
Intel model
Launch coverage listed Thunderbolt 4, HDMI 2.1, an SD-card reader, USB-A ports, Mini DisplayPort 1.4, wired Ethernet and combined headphone/microphone connectivity, alongside Wi-Fi 6. The chassis was described as “warship gray” with a metal A-cover, a full-size keyboard and three-level backlighting.
Ryzen model
The Ryzen announcement listed a full-function USB-C port with up to 100W USB Power Delivery, three USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports, one USB-A 2.0 port, Mini DisplayPort 1.4, 2.5Gb Ethernet, HDMI 2.1, an SD-card slot, DC input and a 3.5mm audio jack, plus Wi-Fi 6.

Do not assume Thunderbolt 4 or an identical port arrangement on the Ryzen version. Xiaomi described the Ryzen machine as using a new metal-A-cover mold and an updated Hurricane cooling system. Those are design and manufacturer cooling claims, not evidence of specific temperatures, fan noise or sustained clock speeds.

The separate Ryzen Redmi G 2022 used an AMD Ryzen 5 6600H and GeForce RTX 3050. Its reported introductory price was ¥6,299, compared with a regular retail price of ¥7,299, in China. The display and many advertised features were similar to the Intel family, but the CPU, GPU configuration and port list were different.
Launch coverage also mentioned a Redmi G Pro Ryzen edition. That higher-positioned G Pro line should not be treated as the standard Redmi G 2022.

Availability outside China
The documented launch was in China. The available official page and launch reports do not verify a broad official U.S. launch, a U.S. MSRP or active Xiaomi distribution in other regions. Importers should confirm the exact keyboard layout, Windows language and activation status, charger plug and voltage compatibility, local warranty, return arrangements and customs costs. A Chinese-market unit may also lack convenient regional repair support.
Should you buy a Redmi G 2022 now?
In 2026, this is a used, old-stock or gray-market proposition rather than a current gaming-laptop launch. Consider one only if the asking price is substantially below newer systems and the machine passes these checks:
- Verify whether it is the i5-12450H, i7-12650H, RTX 3050, RTX 3050 Ti or Ryzen 5 6600H configuration.
- Check battery health, charger authenticity, keyboard language and operating-system localization.
- Confirm the GPU power limit and cooling condition; the same RTX model can perform differently across laptops.
- Establish who handles warranty claims and whether the seller accepts international returns.
- Inspect the 512GB drive’s remaining health and confirm storage-expansion compatibility before budgeting for an SSD.
- Compare the total import cost with a newer laptop that includes current drivers, a newer GPU and a standard regional warranty.
The 165Hz 1600p screen remains attractive on paper, but the RTX 3050/3050 Ti class hardware limits how often demanding games can use that resolution and refresh rate together.
Verdict
The Redmi G 2022 was a notable 2022 China-market launch: it combined a high-resolution, high-refresh 16:10 display, DDR5 memory, PCIe 4.0 storage and useful connectivity with midrange gaming graphics at a starting price of ¥6,299. Its value today depends on a heavily discounted price, verified condition and manageable import risks—not on the old launch price or the assumption of current official availability.
