The clearest device-specific Android 11 evidence in the sources cited here is for two ASUS phones on PixelExperience: Zenfone Max Pro M1 (codename X00TD) and Zenfone Max M2 (X01AD). Treat both as historical build records, not a promise of current support. For any other phone, verify its exact codename and Android 11 branch on the ROM project’s own device page before downloading.
Verified Android 11 custom ROM devices
This is a deliberately short list: a phone’s appearance in a project’s general device roster does not prove that the project released Android 11 for it. PixelExperience’s device page explicitly lists Android 11 versions for the two ASUS models below. Its entry for the Zenfone Max M2 includes a latest listed build date of September 12, 2021. The page is a historical record; check whether a compatible download and installation guide are still available before treating either build as installable.
| Brand | Phone | Codename | ROM and Android version | Status |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ASUS | Zenfone Max Pro M1 | X00TD |
PixelExperience 11 and 11 Plus | Android 11 entries are listed; current download availability is not established. |
| ASUS | Zenfone Max M2 | X01AD |
PixelExperience 11 and 11 Plus | Historical listing; latest listed build is dated September 12, 2021. Current support or download availability is not established. |

Why this is not a complete Android 11 device list
There is no permanent, project-independent list of every compatible phone. Custom ROM support differs by manufacturer variant, region, maintainer and release branch. Some builds were official and device-specific, some were community ports, and some older downloads have since disappeared.

PixelExperience’s archived device roster includes phones associated with the project across several Android generations. It does not establish that every listed device received an Android 11 build. The project also says older builds may be removed when a version is deprecated, and that a build for a similar device cannot simply be substituted. Use the roster as a clue to a project relationship, not as proof of an Android 11 download: PixelExperience archived device roster and PixelExperience FAQ.
What “Android 11 custom ROM” means
Device-specific ROM
A device-specific ROM is built and configured for a particular phone, including its hardware and vendor components. Verify the exact codename, supported model variants, Android version and installation guide on the ROM project’s own device page.

Generic System Image
Android 11 is API level 30. Google documents Generic System Images (GSIs) for compatible Project Treble devices, principally for testing and validation. A GSI is not the same as a phone-specific ROM and does not guarantee that the camera, fingerprint reader, carrier calling features, encryption or power management will work correctly. Google’s Android 11 documentation describes the available image types and qualifications: Android 11 downloads and documentation.
Stock update, port and ROM version
- Stock update: firmware supplied by the phone manufacturer. It is not a custom ROM.
- Port or unofficial build: a community-maintained adaptation. Its features and reliability must be checked for that specific device and build.
- ROM version: a project’s release number is not itself an Android version. For example, LineageOS 18.1 is the Android 11-era branch; verify the branch in the project documentation rather than inferring Android version from a number alone.
Where to check other phones
For LineageOS, start with its official device and download infrastructure. Look for the exact codename, branch, device status and installation documentation; a historical list or a phone’s presence in another ROM’s roster is not enough to establish an official LineageOS 18.1 build.

PixelExperience, crDroid 7 and device-specific Evolution X builds are other Android 11-era avenues to investigate. Their availability varies by device, and the supplied project rosters do not verify a complete Android 11 model list for those projects. Confirm the Android branch and build status on the project or maintainer page for the exact phone. Resurrection Remix should likewise be counted only where an Android 11 build can be verified for that device.
Google’s Pixel Android 11 rollout is a separate matter: the launch announcement says the stock rollout began for Pixel 2, Pixel 3, Pixel 3a, Pixel 4 and Pixel 4a families. That proves manufacturer firmware availability, not a custom ROM release. See Google’s Android 11 launch announcement and its Android 11 documentation.

How to verify a ROM before downloading
- Find the exact model number in the phone’s settings or on its label. A retail name alone may cover different hardware or regional variants.
- Find the device codename from the ROM project’s device page or installation guide. Confirm that both codename and model variant match.
- Confirm that the listed build is Android 11-based. For LineageOS, check specifically for 18.1; for other projects, check their release notes or device page.
- Identify the build status: official, unofficial/community, archived, source-only, or GSI. A live download, an old listing and a forum attachment are not interchangeable evidence of current support.
- Read the device-specific installation instructions and known issues. Check required firmware, recovery, wipe steps, supported variants and whether essential functions are reported working.
- Confirm that you have a recovery route to stock firmware and have backed up data before proceeding.
Official, unofficial and archived builds
| Status | What it tells you | What it does not guarantee |
|---|---|---|
| Official | The ROM project identifies the build as official and provides project-level device documentation. | Ongoing updates, support for every regional variant, or perfect hardware compatibility. |
| Unofficial/community | An independent maintainer has published a device build, often through a forum or community channel. | Long-term maintenance, reliable downloads, security practices or full feature functionality. |
| Archived/discontinued | A project or device page records a prior release. | That the download remains available or that the build is still maintained. |
| GSI | A generic image may be bootable on a qualifying Treble device. | Device-specific configuration or consumer-ready operation of all hardware. |
What you need before flashing
- An exact device and variant match, plus the project’s device-specific installation guide.
- An unlockable bootloader. Unlocking commonly erases the phone; manufacturer, carrier or regional restrictions may apply.
- A complete backup and sufficient battery charge.
- A computer, reliable USB cable and Android platform-tools such as ADB and Fastboot if the guide requires them.
- The specified recovery, ROM package and any required firmware or vendor files.
- A compatible Android 11 Google Apps package only if the ROM does not include Google services and its instructions support adding one.
- A tested way to restore stock firmware if the installation fails.
There is no safe universal flashing command sequence. Partition layout, recovery, firmware prerequisites and wipe procedures differ by device. Even familiar commands such as fastboot flashing unlock or adb sideload should be used only when the exact device guide instructs it. PixelExperience warns that a wrong variant, outdated recovery or incorrect vendor, modem or bootloader version can cause installation failures; consult its installation FAQ and the chosen ROM’s device guide.
Risks and common failures
- Wrong variant: a ROM for a phone with a similar retail name can fail or leave the device unbootable. Match codename and model, not appearance or marketing name.
- Boot loop or failed installation: recovery, firmware, partition and wipe requirements are device-specific. Follow the maintainer’s recovery steps rather than trying instructions for another model.
- Missing hardware features: camera quality, fingerprint, NFC, VoLTE, Wi-Fi calling, Bluetooth audio, GPS, automatic brightness, encryption or 5G may be impaired. Check the individual build’s known-issues list.
- App and DRM limitations: banking, enterprise and streaming apps can depend on device integrity checks or DRM. Compatibility varies by app, region and configuration; no ROM listing guarantees those apps will work.
- Google services: many ROMs do not bundle Google Mobile Services. Use only a compatible package if the build instructions specify one; a no-Google setup may not support Google-dependent apps.
- Bootloader relocking: do not relock after installing an arbitrary custom ROM. Project warnings note that relocking can make some devices unusable.
Is Android 11 still worth installing?
Android 11 can extend the usefulness of a phone whose manufacturer stopped updating it, but it is an old Android release. Prefer a stable, actively supported newer ROM when one exists for the exact model and meets your needs. Android 11 may make sense when no suitable newer build exists, the Android 11 build is better documented for that device, or a required app or feature specifically favors it. Weigh that against the build’s maintenance and security history, working hardware features, and the possibility that needed downloads are no longer available.
