What the list means
This is the original supported upgrade list, not a promise that every phone displayed the update on the same day. Google distributes Pixel updates in stages, and timing can vary by carrier and device. A phone’s eligibility also does not guarantee identical access to every Android 15 or Pixel feature. Hardware, region, carrier, language, account settings and separate Pixel software releases can affect feature availability.

- Pixel 5a with 5G
- Pixel 5
- Pixel 4a 5G
- Pixel 4a
- Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL
- Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL

Pixel Tablet and Pixel 9a: two easy points of confusion
Pixel Tablet
The Pixel Tablet was included in Google’s Android 15 rollout, but it is a tablet rather than a phone, so it is kept out of the main phone list.
Pixel 9a
The Pixel 9a was not named in Google’s October 2024 announcement. Treat it separately as a newer model that entered the market after that initial Android 14-to-Android 15 upgrade list, rather than describing it as one of the original upgrade recipients.

How to check your Pixel’s Android version
- Open Settings.
- Tap About phone.
- Read the value beside Android version.
This confirms whether Android 15 is installed, regardless of when your phone received it.
How to check for an available update
- Open Settings.
- Tap System.
- Tap Software update.
- Follow the on-screen instructions if an update is offered.
Google documents this path and notes that Pixel updates roll out gradually; carrier and device conditions can change when the notification appears.

First confirm the exact model under Settings → About phone and check the installed Android version. Then consider these common causes:
- The staged rollout has not reached your particular device or carrier yet.
- The phone lacks enough free storage to download or install the package.
- The battery is low or the phone is not connected to power.
- The software has been rooted, modified or otherwise changed from Google’s standard configuration.
- An imported device may follow different regional or carrier availability.
- The phone may already be on Android 15 or a later Android release, so an Android 15 offer will not appear.
- The model may not be on the supported list.
Waiting can help with a staged rollout, but it will not make an excluded model eligible. Recheck the model and version before repeatedly attempting the update.

Android 15 eligibility is not lifetime support
Receiving Android 15 does not mean a Pixel will continue receiving Android releases or security patches indefinitely. Google’s current policy provides:
| Models | Update period |
|---|---|
| Pixel 8 and later phones, including Pixel 8a and Pixel 9-series phones | Seven years of operating-system and security updates from the device’s first US Google Store availability date |
| Pixel 6, Pixel 6a, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a and Pixel Fold | Five years of updates from the device’s first US Google Store availability date |
The exact end date therefore depends on each model’s first US Google Store availability date. In particular, Pixel 6-generation phones and the original Pixel Fold received Android 15 but have a shorter support window than Pixel 8-and-newer phones.
Official updates versus unofficial installations
A phone being capable of running software through a custom ROM, bootloader unlock or manually flashed firmware is not the same as receiving Google’s supported Android 15 update. Unofficial installation can involve data loss, failed updates, banking or DRM incompatibility, security exposure and support or warranty complications. Unless you are prepared to manage those risks independently, use the official eligibility list and Google’s built-in update screen.
