Choose the Xiaomi 13 for a smoother 120Hz display, a dedicated telephoto camera and much faster charging—if you can verify the phone’s region, network compatibility, warranty and remaining software support. Choose the iPhone 14 for iOS, Apple-device integration, video, Face ID and a more familiar ownership and repair path, particularly in the US.
Neither is an automatic buy in 2026: both are older flagships, so condition, battery health, price and seller protections matter as much as launch specifications. This comparison covers the standard Xiaomi 13 global model—not the 13 Pro, 13T or a Chinese-market variant—and the standard iPhone 14, not a Pro or Plus.

Which phone feels better to use?
Size, weight and controls
Both are narrow at 71.5mm, but the iPhone 14 is shorter and 17g lighter. That can make a practical difference when holding the phone for a long reading session or using it one-handed. Both have flat-sided designs and glass-and-metal construction.

The Xiaomi 13 uses an in-display fingerprint reader and also has an infrared blaster for controlling some household devices. The iPhone 14 uses Face ID and has Apple’s physical mute switch. Cases and screen protectors are generally easier to find for the iPhone in the US; check local availability for Xiaomi accessories, especially for an imported model.
Display: Xiaomi for smoothness, Apple for a compact OLED
The Xiaomi 13’s display supports refresh rates up to 120Hz, so scrolling and supported animations can look smoother than on the iPhone 14’s 60Hz panel. It is not continuously fixed at 120Hz: refresh behavior adapts to what is on screen. The iPhone’s OLED remains sharp, but it does not have ProMotion—that feature belongs to the iPhone 14 Pro, not the standard iPhone 14.
Xiaomi lists peak brightness up to 1,900 nits, while Apple lists up to 1,200 nits HDR peak brightness. Those are manufacturer claims using different terminology and conditions, not a controlled head-to-head result. Both support Dolby Vision; Xiaomi also lists HDR10+.
Performance and gaming
Both phones remain capable of everyday tasks such as messaging, browsing, photography and multitasking. Their processors come from different platforms—the Xiaomi 13 has a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, while the iPhone 14 has an A15 Bionic with a five-core GPU—so a single processor label does not settle which feels faster for every app or game.

One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchThe Xiaomi’s 120Hz screen, larger stated battery and faster charging are useful for gaming. The iPhone benefits from game optimization and a consistent app ecosystem. Without controlled testing of the same games, settings and session length, it is not sound to claim one has better sustained frame rates or stays cooler. Judge a used phone by its performance in the games you play, not a peak benchmark alone.
Xiaomi lists 8GB or 12GB of RAM for the global model. Apple does not present RAM capacity as a consumer-facing iPhone specification, and the figures should not be compared as if they measured equivalent performance. Confirm the Xiaomi’s exact storage and RAM configuration in the listing.
Camera comparison: telephoto reach versus video consistency
Photos and zoom
The Xiaomi 13 has the more versatile rear-camera hardware: in addition to its main and ultra-wide cameras, it has a dedicated 10MP telephoto camera with a 75mm-equivalent focal length and optical stabilization. That gives it a genuine optical option for portraits and distant subjects. The iPhone 14 has no telephoto camera, so magnification relies on cropping and digital processing.
Xiaomi also offers Leica color profiles and photographic styles, alongside more manual control. But 50 megapixels on the Xiaomi’s main camera versus 12 megapixels on the iPhone does not establish that it takes better pictures. Sensor size, lens quality, stabilization, processing, shutter timing, skin tones, night scenes and motion handling all affect results. No universal photo-quality winner can be established from the specifications alone.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesVideo
The iPhone 14 is the safer choice for users who prioritize family or pet video, social-media clips, and editing in Apple’s ecosystem. It supports Dolby Vision HDR recording up to 4K/60fps and Cinematic mode up to 4K/30fps. Apple’s camera and software integration are a practical strength for a video-first workflow.
The Xiaomi 13 lists recording up to 8K/24fps, as well as 4K up to 60fps. A higher maximum resolution is not automatically better for everyday video: 8K takes more storage, may be less convenient to edit and share, and should not be assumed to offer the best stabilization or image quality. The useful comparison is the footage and workflow you need, not the largest resolution number.
Front cameras and third-party apps
Xiaomi lists a 32MP front camera with video up to 1080p/30fps. Apple lists a 12MP TrueDepth front camera with autofocus and computational-photography features. The pixel counts alone do not determine selfie quality. If you depend on camera quality inside social or work apps, check the specific apps you use: camera processing and feature support can differ between a phone’s native camera app and third-party apps.
Battery life, charging and used-phone condition
Xiaomi lists a 4,500mAh typical battery and rates its system for 67W wired charging, 50W wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging. Under Xiaomi’s stated conditions, the company claims about 38 minutes to a full charge by 67W wired charging and about 48 minutes by 50W wireless charging. These are manufacturer charging claims, not a direct test against the iPhone.

Apple does not publish the iPhone 14’s battery capacity on its consumer specification page. It lists up to 20 hours of local video playback, MagSafe wireless charging up to 15W and Qi charging up to 7.5W. Apple says a 20W-or-higher adapter can charge it to approximately 50% in around 30 minutes; the adapter is sold separately. Xiaomi’s listed package includes a 67W adapter, though package contents vary by market.
Battery capacity and charging wattage do not establish which phone lasts longer in ordinary use. Screen time, signal strength, gaming, 5G use, software and battery wear all affect endurance. For a used device, its actual battery condition matters more than its original rating. On an iPhone, inspect Battery Health and ask whether any battery or display replacement triggers a parts warning; Xiaomi buyers should ask about battery condition and local replacement availability.
Apple documents battery service and repair through Apple Stores, Authorized Service Providers and Apple Repair Centers. Check the Apple battery and repair information for available routes. Fast charging may be convenient, but do not assume a used battery is healthy just because the phone charges quickly.

What to expect from Xiaomi
The Xiaomi 13 launched with Android 13 and MIUI 14 according to Xiaomi’s global specification page. Xiaomi’s general policy says smartphone security updates are typically maintained for at least two years after first shipment, with three years or longer for some models. That general policy does not establish the Xiaomi 13’s exact remaining support period. Check the specific model in the Xiaomi Security Center, and consult Xiaomi’s software-support policy. Do not assume a China-ROM device follows the same schedule or gets updates at the same time as a global model.
Android offers more launcher and home-screen customization, flexible file management, USB-C and multitasking options. On a verified global model, Google Play and Google services are available. Xiaomi’s current HyperOS availability and update timing can vary by model and region.
What to expect from iPhone
Apple does not give the iPhone 14 a fixed end-of-support date on its technical-specification page, so a precise future update guarantee would be unwarranted. Apple’s established support history and broad app ecosystem can nevertheless make its remaining ownership horizon more predictable in practice than an imported Android model with uncertain regional support.
iPhone is the natural fit for users who rely on a Mac, iPad, Apple Watch, AirPods or iCloud, and who use AirDrop, iMessage or FaceTime. Switching platforms can also affect app purchases, wearable compatibility and smart-home routines, so check those dependencies before changing phones.
Connectivity and regional risks: check before buying Xiaomi
For an imported Xiaomi 13, the exact model and software region can matter more than the headline specifications. Xiaomi says that connectivity and eSIM availability can vary by market and carrier. Apple’s iPhone 14 cellular configurations also differ by region. A listing that simply says “global” is not enough to establish compatibility.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →- Confirm the exact model number and sales region. Match them against the manufacturer’s specifications for your country.
- Identify the ROM. Confirm whether the Xiaomi has global or China software, and whether its bootloader is locked or the software has been modified.
- Check your carrier directly. Verify the supported bands and ask about 5G, VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling for that exact model.
- Confirm SIM and services. Check physical SIM and eSIM availability with your carrier; verify Google Play certification, NFC and Google Wallet if you rely on them.
- Get warranty and return terms in writing. Establish where repairs are handled, who pays shipping and import costs, and whether the seller accepts returns if network features do not work.
Xiaomi describes the scope of its international warranty service; coverage should not be assumed for every imported phone or country. Xiaomi’s support site can help identify available regional support. US buyers in particular should confirm carrier compatibility and local repair options before choosing an imported Xiaomi over an iPhone.
Durability, repairs and practical ownership
Both phones are IP68-rated, but that is not a promise that an aging or repaired phone is waterproof. Xiaomi warns that resistance can deteriorate through wear, physical damage or disassembly; Apple’s rating is based on controlled conditions. Do not deliberately submerge either handset.
Apple has documented repair routes through its own stores, Authorized Service Providers and repair centers, which makes service a more familiar proposition for many US owners. Xiaomi buyers should establish whether local service and replacement parts are available for the specific regional model. This is a practical ownership difference, not a measured repairability score.
How to inspect a used or refurbished unit
For either phone
- Check the exact model, storage, seller, return window and warranty before paying.
- Inspect the display, cameras, charging port, buttons, speakers and microphones; test wireless charging if relevant.
- Confirm the phone is unlocked and that the seller removes all accounts and device locks before handover.
- Ask about repairs, water exposure and battery replacement, and test the functions affected by any repair.
Additional checks for iPhone 14
- Check Battery Health in Settings and decide whether the reported condition is acceptable for the price.
- Make sure Activation Lock is removed and the phone can be set up with your account.
- Test Face ID and inspect Settings for any parts or service warnings.
- Verify carrier-unlocked status and allow for Lightning accessories or adapters you may need.
Additional checks for Xiaomi 13
- Match the model number, ROM, storage and seller description; do not rely on a “global version” label alone.
- Test Google Play, banking apps, NFC payments, your SIM, mobile data, calls and Wi-Fi calling.
- Confirm eSIM only if your exact device and carrier support it.
- Check that the charger and plug suit your country and that the seller’s warranty covers your location.
Which phone should you buy?
Choose Xiaomi 13 for hardware and flexibility
- You want a compact Android phone with a 120Hz display.
- You value fast wired and wireless charging or a dedicated telephoto camera.
- You want Android customization, USB-C and the flexibility to manage files.
- You have verified the global model, carrier compatibility, warranty and support status, and its price is meaningfully attractive.
Choose iPhone 14 for video and Apple continuity
- You already use Apple devices or depend on iOS apps and services.
- You prioritize video recording, Face ID and Apple’s safety features, where available.
- You want a more familiar US carrier, repair and accessory environment.
- You have found a sound unit with acceptable battery health, no activation lock and a clear return policy.
Use price and condition—not launch specifications—as the tiebreaker
There is no defensible universal 2026 price comparison here: actual prices depend on country, seller, storage, condition and warranty. If the two phones cost about the same and you are platform-neutral, the Xiaomi offers more hardware features. If its import status, warranty or carrier fit is uncertain, that advantage can disappear. A properly refurbished iPhone may justify a higher price when battery condition and returns are clearly covered; reject one with Activation Lock, failed Face ID or an unacceptable battery regardless of the discount. Compare any imported Xiaomi against a newer officially supported Android option at the same transaction price.
