At launch, the full game was included with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, PC Game Pass, and Game Pass Console. That is a historical launch offer, not proof that every current Game Pass plan includes the game today.
What Microsoft and Activision announced
Microsoft announced on May 28, 2024 that Black Ops 6 would arrive on Game Pass on release day. The game launched on October 25, 2024, and Xbox’s launch guide and Activision’s edition information confirmed availability through select subscription plans. Microsoft’s announcement and Activision’s edition guide described access to the full game, not just a multiplayer trial, beta, or cloud-only version.

Which plans included it at launch?
The 2024 launch lineup was limited to these named plans. The table describes the announced access at that time; it does not establish current catalog eligibility.
| Plan at launch | Xbox console | Windows PC | Cloud at launch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Xbox Game Pass Ultimate | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| PC Game Pass | No console entitlement stated | Yes | No cloud entitlement stated |
| Game Pass Console | Yes | No PC entitlement stated | No cloud entitlement stated |
Ultimate covered Xbox and PC access, while PC Game Pass and Game Pass Console each applied to their respective platform. Cloud gaming was specifically announced for Ultimate members. The 2024 plan names should not be confused with the current U.S. lineup, which Xbox now lists as Ultimate, Premium, Essential, and PC Game Pass.

Platforms and storefronts were not interchangeable
Game Pass access covered Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, plus the Windows PC version through the Xbox/Microsoft Store ecosystem. Although Black Ops 6 also launched on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Steam, and Battle.net, a Game Pass entitlement did not unlock those versions. PlayStation players needed a PlayStation purchase, and PC players using Steam or Battle.net needed a license from those storefronts. See Xbox’s launch guide for the platform list.
What the subscription did—and did not—include
The base game
Eligible subscribers received the standard game entitlement for their platform: the Digital Cross-Gen Bundle on Xbox or the PC Standard Edition through the Microsoft Store, according to Activision’s edition guide. Game Pass access is subscription access, not a permanent retail license. If the subscription ends, access through that subscription ends unless the player buys the game separately.
Rank #2
- This is signature Black Ops across a cinematic single-player Campaign, a best-in-class Multiplayer experience, and the epic return of Round-Based Zombies.
- The Black Ops 6 Campaign provides dynamic moment-to-moment gameplay that includes a variety of play spaces with blockbuster set pieces and action-packed moments, high-stakes heists, and cloak-and-dagger spy activity.
- In a best-in-class Multiplayer experience, players will test their skills across 16 new maps at launch, including 12 core 6v6 maps and 4 Strike maps that can be played 2v2 or 6v6.
- Black Ops 6 also marks the epic return of Round-Based Zombies, the fan-favorite mode where players will take down hordes of the undead in two brand-new maps at launch. Post-launch, players can look forward to even more exciting maps and groundbreaking experiences dropping into both Multiplayer and Zombies.
- The Cross-Gen Bundle of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will also be available on select Game Pass plans at launch.*
Preorder-related items and premium extras
Activision also described certain preorder-related benefits for eligible subscribers, including the Woods Operator Pack and applicable Open Beta early access benefits. The Woods Pack requirement was to log in to Modern Warfare III or Warzone on the platform with the qualifying subscription before October 25, 2024, while keeping that subscription. Those were time-limited historical conditions, not a current redemption route.
The Vault Edition was not included as part of the base Game Pass entitlement. Activision listed a separate Vault Edition upgrade at a U.S. suggested retail price of $30 at launch in 2024; that figure is not a verified current price. Cosmetic bundles and other store purchases were not automatically included either.

- Black Ops 6 also marks the epic return of fan-favorite Zombie mode
How cloud play worked at launch
Xbox Cloud Gaming access for Black Ops 6 began rolling out to Game Pass Ultimate members on October 25, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time, according to Xbox’s cloud announcement. Streaming was an alternative to installing the local console or PC version, not a separate free copy. It depended on supported devices, regional availability, title availability in the cloud catalog, and a sufficiently stable connection. The Xbox store listing also notes that linking a mobile phone number to an Activision account may be required; that listing caveat should not be treated as a universal rule for every account or region: Xbox store listing.
What to check if you are trying to play now
The 2024 launch announcement alone cannot confirm whether the game remains in the catalog or which current plan includes it. Xbox’s current U.S. comparison page lists the newer plan names and says subscriptions auto-renew at the then-current regular price unless canceled; taxes and regional conditions may apply. Its general plan information is not, by itself, confirmation of Black Ops 6 eligibility. Check the live listing and plan details for your region before subscribing: Xbox Game Pass plan comparison.
- Confirm the game’s current listing and required plan in the Xbox app or Microsoft Store for your account and region.
- On PC, use the Xbox app/Microsoft Store version; searching in Steam or Battle.net will not reveal a Game Pass entitlement.
- Make sure you are signed into the Microsoft account with the subscription. If the title is missing, app updates or signing out and back in may help, but availability and menu behavior can vary.
- Distinguish the paid Black Ops 6 game from the separate free-to-play Warzone client.
- For cloud streaming, verify Ultimate eligibility, device and regional support, and the game’s current cloud availability.
Subscribe or buy?
Game Pass can make sense if
- You already maintain an eligible plan and want to play the campaign, multiplayer, or Zombies without a separate purchase.
- You want to try the game for a limited period or expect to play other included titles during the subscription.
- You use Xbox Cloud Gaming and meet its current device, region, and connection requirements.
A purchase can make sense if
- You want ongoing access without keeping a subscription active.
- You play on PlayStation, Steam, or Battle.net rather than the Xbox/Microsoft Store ecosystem.
- You want Vault Edition content or prefer to avoid changes to subscription pricing, catalog inclusion, or plan eligibility.
Check the relevant storefront for the current purchase and upgrade terms; the 2024 launch price for the Vault Edition upgrade should not be assumed to apply now. For plan pricing and renewal conditions, consult Xbox’s current plan comparison.
