To uninstall Malwarebytes for Windows v4, start the removal from Windows Start, Settings, or Control Panel, then complete the prompts in Malwarebytes’ uninstaller. If the standard removal fails or you need a clean removal, Malwarebytes documents using its Support Tool’s Advanced > Clean option; that process requires a restart. The reinstall offered afterward is optional.
Uninstall Malwarebytes through Windows
Malwarebytes’ current Windows instructions use this standard removal flow. The exact route to the app list depends on whether you start from the Start menu, Settings, or Control Panel.
- Find Malwarebytes from the Windows Start menu, Settings, or Control Panel, and begin the uninstall.
- When Malwarebytes asks for a reason, choose one and continue.
- Select Uninstall Malwarebytes. You may be offered the option to provide feedback.
- Submit any feedback if you want to, confirm the removal, and click Uninstall in the Malwarebytes uninstaller.
- When removal finishes, click Done.
These steps reflect the Windows portion of Malwarebytes’ current uninstall instructions. If the process fails, Malwarebytes directs users to contact Support.
Use the Support Tool for a clean removal
Malwarebytes recommends its Support Tool when a technical issue cannot be repaired and provides a clean-removal route. The Advanced > Clean operation removes Malwarebytes app files and configurations, then prompts you to restart.

- Download and open the Malwarebytes Support Tool.
- Approve its installation and accept the license agreement.
- Choose Advanced, then Clean.
- Confirm the cleanup and restart the computer when prompted.
- After the restart, follow the post-reboot cleanup window. The tool then offers an optional reinstall; decline it if you only want Malwarebytes removed.
The tool requires Microsoft .NET 4.8. Malwarebytes’ clean-removal instructions say the post-restart step completes the uninstall. If you choose to reinstall instead, the documented flow asks you to select Personal Computer or Work Computer and click Install.
Choose the right route

Repair is not the same as uninstalling
Choose Repair when you want to troubleshoot by reinstalling Malwarebytes while preserving information. According to Malwarebytes’ Support Tool user guide, Repair backs up configuration data, exclusions, quarantine data, and Premium license-key information, uninstalls the software, installs the latest Windows version, and restores the saved data. A reboot may be required, so save open work first. For removal without reinstalling, use the standard uninstall or the Clean route instead.

Important guidance for managed business devices
Malwarebytes warns not to use the Support Tool on business endpoints. Its Support Tool FAQ says to uninstall those endpoints through Nebula or OneView instead. Follow your organization’s endpoint-management process rather than the consumer clean-removal steps.
