As of September 28, 2026, Nintendo Switch has no official Netflix app documented in Nintendo’s support or eShop materials reviewed. Nintendo has not publicly given a definitive reason for the omission. Explanations involving hardware, digital rights management (DRM), business terms, or Nintendo’s priorities remain speculation—not confirmed causes.
Has Netflix ever been available on Nintendo Switch?
Nintendo’s Netflix support pages cover the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS family systems, not a Switch release. Nintendo says the Netflix app was removed from the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS eShops on December 31, 2020, and the service on those systems ended June 30, 2021. Nintendo’s notice about the discontinuation and its guidance on finding Netflix in the eShop do not document a Switch app.
Why doesn’t Nintendo Switch have Netflix?
Nintendo has not published a definitive explanation. Hardware limits, DRM requirements, commercial negotiations, development priorities, or a games-first strategy may be suggested as possibilities, but none is established as the reason. There is no official basis for saying Nintendo refused a deal, Netflix rejected one, or a particular technical limitation made an app impossible.
Does the Switch support any video-streaming apps?
Yes. Nintendo documents Crunchyroll for Nintendo Switch, Switch Lite, Switch OLED, and Switch 2, but app availability is handled service by service; Crunchyroll’s presence does not mean Netflix is available. Nintendo says Crunchyroll service for Switch will discontinue on October 30, 2026. Check Nintendo’s Crunchyroll support page for current details.

How can you watch Netflix if you own a Switch?
Use a separate device that supports the official Netflix app. A Netflix-compatible streaming stick is one option for a TV; a compatible smart TV or another supported game console may also work. Netflix says its app can be downloaded from app stores on most supported devices and is often preinstalled on newer TVs and streaming devices. It advises people with a streaming stick, cable box, or game console to check whether that specific device has the Netflix app. See the Netflix Help Center device guidance.
Before choosing a device, verify that the exact model is currently supported in your region. Netflix availability, supported features, and app access can vary by device and location; do not assume that every model in a product category offers the same options.
