The NYT Letter Boxed puzzle resets daily at 3 a.m. Eastern Time, according to a recent Beebom guide that attributes the schedule to The New York Times.

What the reset time means for you

Beebom’s guide says, in its own words, that Letter Boxed resets at 3 AM ET every day. That means a new puzzle should be waiting once 3 a.m. passes in the US Eastern time zone. If you play in the evening in the US, you are still on the previous Eastern date’s puzzle until that moment passes the next morning.

How confident is this time?

  • Source: The figure comes from a secondary guide. The NYT Help Center’s Games subscription page lists Letter Boxed as an NYT Games title, but it does not state a reset time.
  • Time zone detail: The guide says “ET” and does not explain whether that follows daylight saving time through the year. Treat it as Eastern local time, and don’t assume a fixed conversion to your own zone.
  • Changes: The guide doesn’t say whether the schedule has changed since it was written. NYT can adjust release times at any time.

Working out your own local time

  1. Find the current time in New York, using any world clock.
  2. Take the difference between New York and your location today, since daylight saving dates differ between countries.
  3. Add that difference to 3 a.m. to get your local reset time.
  4. Check the next day’s puzzle once to confirm it appears when you expect.

Access

NYT’s help listing places Letter Boxed among the games associated with an NYT Games subscription. It doesn’t settle which parts are free or paid right now, so check the game’s page in the NYT Games app or website if you hit a paywall.
