The schedule also includes other films and series, so these seven are recommendations rather than a full list of everything arriving. The date-by-date U.S. calendar is maintained by What’s on Netflix; Netflix’s 2026 movie guide and series guide confirm some titles and broader programming.
1. The Whisper Man is the week’s biggest star-driven film
August 28 · Netflix film · Crime thriller
When his eight-year-old son is abducted, a widowed crime writer turns to his estranged father, a retired police detective. Their search leads toward an old serial-killer case. Robert De Niro, Michelle Monaghan and Adam Scott lead the cast, with Hamish Linklater and Owen Teague also listed by Netflix’s 2026 movie guide.

#1 Best Overall
This is the clearest pick for viewers looking for a recognizable cast and a tense, mainstream thriller. It is currently scheduled for August 28 in the U.S. calendar.
2. Beauty in Black returns for Season 3
August 27 · Returning drama
Beauty in Black is the choice for viewers in the mood for glamorous, high-stakes serialized drama. The current U.S. schedule lists Season 3 for August 27. It does not provide a detailed season synopsis, so there is no reason to guess at new plot developments; the listing also does not identify this as the final season.
Rank #2
3. Revival brings a new supernatural premise
August 24 · Season 1 · Horror-noir series
In rural Wisconsin, the dead suddenly return—but they appear to be normal people rather than mindless zombies. The cast listed for Revival includes Melanie Scrofano, Romy Weltman, David James Elliott and Andy McQueen.
It’s the week’s most distinctive option for horror fans who would rather try a new premise than catch up with a returning show. The schedule confirms an August 24 listing, but does not establish the episode count or release cadence.

4. The Secret Woman turns a missing-person case into an identity mystery
August 28 · Danish thriller series
Louise Andersen’s quiet life is unsettled when a stranger says she is actually Helene Söderberg, who disappeared from Denmark three years earlier. Netflix describes the series as launching globally on August 28; its cast includes Natalie Madueño, Claes Bang, Pål Sverre Hagen and Stina Ekblad. Read Netflix’s announcement.
Choose it if Nordic noir, family secrets and uncertainty about who to trust are your kind of mystery.

5. All the Truth in My Lies is a defined-length weekend drama
August 28 · Five-episode Spanish limited series
Adapted from an Elísabet Benavent novel, this Spanish series follows a group on a celebratory caravan trip that turns dangerous as buried secrets begin to unravel. Netflix confirms a worldwide premiere on August 28 and a five-episode format in its official announcement.
Its stated episode count makes this a good fit for viewers who want a compact relationship drama with a clear endpoint. The global launch is confirmed, though local catalog details can still vary.
6. Leanne Season 2 is the low-commitment comedy pick
August 27 · Returning sitcom
Comedian Leanne Morgan and producer Chuck Lorre’s sitcom returns on August 27, according to the current U.S. schedule. The season listing notes a guest appearance by Tyne Daly alongside Tim Daly. The available schedule does not offer a detailed plot summary, so the appeal here is straightforward: a traditional comedy option amid a week heavy on suspense and drama.
7. M3GAN offers a familiar one-film horror night
August 24 · Licensed film
M3GAN follows a roboticist who gives her orphaned niece an advanced AI doll; the doll’s protective instincts turn violent. It is a licensed movie addition, not a new Netflix original, and is currently listed for August 24 in the U.S. calendar. Because licensed titles can vary by territory and leave a service, confirm it appears in your Netflix catalog before planning a watch.
