The JBL PartyBox 720 is RTINGS’ loudest Bluetooth speaker pick in its 2026 guide, with a reported maximum of 114 dB. But the best choice depends on more than peak volume: battery life, coverage, portability, event inputs and budget all matter. Here are five picks across useful price and use tiers—not a strict first-to-fifth ranking—plus a separate portable option for buyers who need to carry their speaker.
How to choose a loud Bluetooth speaker
Maximum output is only one part of the decision. RTINGS’ guide notes that compression at maximum volume can reduce clarity as you turn a speaker up. A loud speaker may also cover a room or yard unevenly: the PartyBox 720, for example, directs sound forward, creating a narrower sweet spot.

Think about where listeners will stand, how far you need the sound to carry, and whether you need microphone or instrument inputs. Also check battery life at the volume you expect to use; a runtime figure should not be assumed to apply at maximum volume unless the source says so. RTINGS’ category-based recommendations and product notes are in its loud Bluetooth speaker guide.
Five loud Bluetooth speakers for different needs
These picks span large-party, upper-mid-range, mid-range, lower-mid-range and budget use. RTINGS groups its recommendations by category, so the list is not a measured overall ranking from first to fifth.

JBL PartyBox 720: for the biggest output
RTINGS names the PartyBox 720 its loudest Bluetooth speaker pick, reporting a 114 dB maximum in its 2026 guide. It runs on battery for nearly 14 hours, according to the same guide, and can also connect to AC power for a little extra volume. Its bass-forward sound and high output suit a large gathering, but its forward-facing drivers mean people off to the sides or behind it may not hear the same balance as those in front.
SOUNDBOKS Mix: high output in a smaller package
The SOUNDBOKS Mix is a lighter, smaller alternative to the PartyBox 720. RTINGS reports just over 110 dB SPL and 18 hours of battery life in its 2026 guide. The trade-offs are less deep bass and fewer microphone or instrument inputs than the larger PartyBox 720. Choose it when a balance of loudness, battery life and easier handling matters more than maximum bass or a broad set of event connections.

JBL PartyBox Club 120: a yard-party and karaoke option
The PartyBox Club 120 is a lower-tier event speaker with two microphone/instrument inputs and a replaceable battery option. RTINGS says it is less loud than the SOUNDBOKS Mix, but still plenty loud for a yard party. Its battery life is 10 hours in RTINGS’ product notes. The two inputs make it the more flexible choice of the Club 120 and Stage 301 for karaoke or small live setups.

LG xboom Stage 301: lighter, balanced sound
The Stage 301 is a lighter lower-mid-range option with balanced tuning rather than a bass-heavy emphasis. RTINGS reports more than 14 hours from its hot-swappable battery. It has one microphone/instrument input, compared with two on the PartyBox Club 120, so it is better suited to a simpler setup than to multiple performers.

Klipsch GIG XXL: budget loudness with a shorter battery window
RTINGS identifies the GIG XXL as its budget pick and says it is under $100 in the guide. It gets somewhat louder than the Stage 301, but its battery lasts just under six hours, according to RTINGS. It lacks app tuning, though it includes a wired microphone and echo/reverb control. Consider it if price and output matter more than long untethered sessions or app-based sound adjustments; check the current price and availability before buying.

Portability changes the trade-off. RTINGS’ loudest portable pick is the JBL Boombox 4, at 108 dB SPL in its 2026 guide. RTINGS reports up to 40 hours of battery life and notes its removable battery, carry handle, and dust and water protection. It does not have microphone or instrument inputs, so it is less suited to karaoke or a live setup than the party speakers above.

Why loudness numbers need context
Decibel figures are useful only when the measurement methods and conditions are comparable. RTINGS reports 114 dB for the PartyBox 720, just over 110 dB SPL for the SOUNDBOKS Mix, and 108 dB SPL for the Boombox 4 in its 2026 guide. Those figures help compare picks within that guide, but they should not be treated as a universal ranking across every speaker or testing method.

Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →SOUNDBOKS lists a 126 dB maximum SPL for its SOUNDBOKS 4 on its product specification page. That is a manufacturer-published figure, not an independent test result shown to use the same method as RTINGS’ measurements, so it cannot be directly ranked against them. SOUNDBOKS also claims about six hours at full volume and up to 40 hours at mid-volume; those are manufacturer figures and depend on volume and bass content.
For an event, prioritize the way a speaker maintains clarity as volume rises and whether it covers the audience evenly, not just its highest stated number. RTINGS’ discussion of the loudest Bluetooth speakers explains why output, compression and listening coverage all matter.
