Repair common Windows errors and clear accumulated junk for a smoother, more stable PC - no reinstall needed.Free scan · no reinstallFor most shoppers who want both a camera and phone-photo printing, the KODAK Mini Shot 3 Retro C300R is the clearest starting point: it makes 3×3-inch square 4PASS prints and can print photos from a phone gallery over Bluetooth. If you want a simpler camera that automatically makes adhesive-backed 2×3-inch prints, consider the PRINTOMATIC instead. These are use-case picks, not a tested ranking; Kodak’s catalog spans different printing systems and formats, and regional stock varies.
How to choose among Kodak instant-print cameras
“Instant camera” here describes several kinds of digital camera-printer, not one shared film system. Kodak’s lineup includes ZINK-paper models and 4PASS dye-sublimation models. Compare the print size and surface, whether you can print from a phone, and whether you want to choose images before printing.

1. Mini Shot 3 Retro C300R: best fit for square prints and phone photos
The Mini Shot 3 Retro combines a camera with a printer. Kodak lists 3×3-inch 4PASS dye-sublimation printing, Bluetooth printing from a phone gallery, iOS and Android support, USB-C, and a 1.7-inch LCD viewfinder. Its prints are single-sided and non-sticky, so it is a different proposition from a small adhesive-backed snapshot. Kodak’s product page provides the model details: KODAK Mini Shot 3 Retro C300R.
Budget for the matching consumable as well as the camera. Kodak lists a format-specific 3×3-inch 4PASS cartridge; verify compatibility with the exact camera and that it is sold where you live. The available information does not establish a current price per print.
2. Mini Shot 2 Retro: a smaller-format Mini Shot alternative
Kodak describes the Mini Shot 2 Retro as able to print from the camera and to print phone photos over Bluetooth. That makes it a candidate if you want a hybrid camera-printer but do not need the documented 3×3-inch output of the Mini Shot 3 Retro. The catalog details cited here do not establish the Mini Shot 2 Retro’s exact print size or cartridge, so consult its model-specific listing before choosing paper or estimating supply costs.

3. Mini Shot 3 Era: for a preview-and-edit workflow
Kodak describes the Mini Shot 3 Era as letting users capture, preview, edit, and print. That workflow can help when you want to review an image before using a print. Do not infer that it shares the Mini Shot 3 Retro’s cartridge or print format just because both are Mini Shot 3 models; check the exact Era specification and consumable.
4. Mini Shot 4 Era: for larger square output
Kodak lists 4×4-inch 4PASS prints for the Mini Shot 4 Era, making it the square-format option to investigate if a 3×3-inch print feels small. Check that the camera and its model-specific cartridge are available in your region. The catalog specification alone does not establish local stock or comparative image quality.

5. PRINTOMATIC: for automatic adhesive-backed snapshots
The PRINTOMATIC automatically produces 2×3-inch prints on Kodak ZINK paper. Kodak describes them as adhesive-backed, water-resistant, and durable. The workflow is straightforward, but the camera prints only pictures taken with it; its manual says it does not print images from another device. See the PRINTOMATIC product information and PRINTOMATIC manual.
What the print system means for everyday use
ZINK: direct, adhesive-backed prints
PRINTOMATIC uses ZINK paper for its 2×3-inch adhesive-backed output. Its manual answers the question, “Is any type of paper compatible with this camera?” with a specific requirement: the camera was designed to work only with KODAK ZINK Photo Paper. Do not buy generic paper based only on a similar size; check the model’s stated compatibility. The manual also says PRINTOMATIC saves images to a microSD card of up to 32GB, though a card is not required for basic camera use.

4PASS: model-specific cartridges and print sizes
Kodak describes the Mini Shot 3 Retro and Mini Shot 4 Era as 4PASS dye-sublimation cameras, with 3×3-inch and 4×4-inch output respectively. Kodak’s Mini Shot printer ecosystem uses the Mini Shot app, but that does not establish that every camera uses the same cartridge. Match the cartridge to the exact model rather than relying on the family name. Kodak describes the Mini Photo Printer technology and companion-app functions here.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Check these details before buying
- Choose the output first. Decide between the documented 3×3-inch square Mini Shot 3 Retro prints, the 4×4-inch Mini Shot 4 Era prints, or the PRINTOMATIC’s 2×3-inch adhesive-backed prints. For other Mini Shot models, confirm the precise size on the product listing.
- Decide where images will come from. The Mini Shot 3 Retro and Mini Shot 2 Retro are described as supporting Bluetooth phone-photo printing. The PRINTOMATIC manual limits printing to photos taken with that camera.
- Match the supply to the exact model. PRINTOMATIC requires Kodak ZINK Photo Paper. For a Mini Shot, check the camera’s own listing and cartridge details rather than assuming compatibility across models.
- Check local stock and recurring cost. Kodak says availability differs by country. Current prices and a comparable price-per-print figure are not established here, so check the camera and compatible supplies with sellers in your market.
What this shortlist can—and cannot—tell you
The five options above are organized around documented formats and workflows, not a consistent hands-on test of five cameras. Kodak’s catalog is useful for identifying its represented models and stated features, but it does not independently establish which camera produces the best-looking prints or offers the best value. An independent 2026 guide offers a reviewer’s judgment that instant-film image quality can favor detail and tonality while digital-paper cameras can cost less to run; that is an attributed preference, not a universal measurement or a Kodak-specific test. Read the independent instant-camera guide for that broader context.
