Which budget 240Hz monitor should you choose?
These models serve different priorities rather than forming a single price-ranked list. RTINGS’ current recommendations cover monitors available in the United States; its roundup calls the LG 27GR83Q-B a budget option, while the other evidence spans basic 1080p choices and a time-sensitive sale. No fixed price ceiling or live price comparison is established for all five, so treat “budget” as a value-oriented shortlist, not a claim that every model costs roughly the same.

| Model | Best fit | Key trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Dell SE2426HGS | Basic 24-inch 1080p at native 240Hz | Limited contrast, color gamut, and HDR impact |
| Dell G2524H | 1080p speed, with an optional refresh-rate overclock | 280Hz is an overclock above its native 240Hz mode; picture quality and console support are limited |
| ViewSonic XG2431 | Motion-focused play and customizable backlight strobing | Availability may be difficult; color accuracy in sRGB favors the Dell in RTINGS’ comparison |
| LG 27GR83Q-B | 27-inch 1440p resolution at 240Hz | Higher resolution asks more of the gaming PC; dark-scene and HDR performance are limited |
| Acer Nitro KG273 W3bip | Larger 27-inch 1080p screen when the price is right | Less detail per inch than a 24-inch 1080p screen at the same viewing distance |
Best straightforward 24-inch 1080p pick: Dell SE2426HGS
RTINGS describes the SE2426HGS as an entry-level 24-inch, 1080p, 240Hz gaming monitor. Its review reports low input lag, good overall motion handling, and FreeSync Premium Pro support. The 1080p resolution is a practical match for players trying to reach high frame rates without asking the graphics card to render as many pixels as it would at 1440p.

The compromises are image quality rather than refresh rate: RTINGS notes low contrast, gray-looking blacks, limited gamut, and weak HDR highlights. Choose it for responsive, high-refresh 1080p play, not for deep blacks or a compelling HDR presentation.
#1 Best Overall
- Smooth motion: 240Hz refresh rate and fast 0.5ms response time provide crisp visuals and fluid movement with less input lag.
- Seamless gaming: FreeSync Premium and HDMI VRR eliminate tearing for smooth, responsive PC and console gameplay.
- Fast IPS: Faster 0.5ms response with excellent color accuracy across wide IPS viewing angles.
- Rich color: 99% sRGB color coverage delivers vivid, detailed imagery with strong accuracy.
- Eye comfort: TÜV Rheinland 3‑star certified display lowers blue light while preserving color quality.
Best optional overclock: Dell G2524H
The G2524H runs at a native 240Hz, with an overclock option up to 280Hz, according to RTINGS. The distinction matters: 280Hz is not the default native mode. RTINGS reports low input lag and consistently fast response, making this a reasonable alternative for players prioritizing speed over richer image quality.
RTINGS identifies limited picture quality and no HDR. For consoles, its review specifies support only for 1080p at 120Hz; do not assume that a 240Hz PC mode carries over to a console.

Best motion-focused option: ViewSonic XG2431
RTINGS’ comparison with the Dell SE2426HGS favors the XG2431 for motion handling and its customizable backlight strobing, which can reduce persistence blur. It also includes a USB hub. The Dell, by comparison, has more accurate color in its sRGB mode.

Availability is the main practical caveat: RTINGS’ current 240Hz roundup says it replaced the ViewSonic in its inexpensive recommendation because the XG2431 was hard to find. Confirm that the exact model is in stock at a reasonable price before making it your shortlist leader.

- 1ms Response Time: Colors fade and illuminate instantly with a 1ms response time, eliminating ghosting and piecing together precise imagery during action-packed scenes and gaming.

- AMD FreeSync Premium: By accelerating the frame rate to at least 120Hz at 1080P FHD resolution and delivering low latency to prevent visible delay in data processing, AMD FreeSync Premium allows gameplay to reach the highest echelons of performance.
- Built-In Speakers: Perfectly suited to work & gaming settings, built-in speakers deliver robust & smooth audio while saving space on your desk.
Best 1440p option: LG 27GR83Q-B
The LG pairs a 27-inch IPS panel with 1440p resolution and a 240Hz refresh rate. RTINGS lists HDMI 2.1 bandwidth, variable refresh rate (VRR), fast response, and low input lag among its strengths. Compared with 1080p, 1440p gives games and desktop content more detail, but rendering that extra resolution at very high frame rates generally demands more from the graphics card.
RTINGS also notes low contrast and no local dimming, which limit dark-room performance and HDR impact. This is the pick to consider when you want the sharper resolution and your PC can drive your games at high frame rates—not simply because 240Hz appears on the specification sheet.

Best large-screen deal candidate: Acer Nitro KG273 W3bip
PC Gamer’s deal page described this 27-inch IPS monitor as a 240Hz display with a stated 0.5 ms response time. The page showed a Best Buy offer of $139.99, reduced from $199.99, when accessed on October 7, 2026. That was a captured promotion, not a guaranteed current price or an independently tested result in the available evidence; check the retailer’s live listing before relying on it.
A 27-inch 1080p screen gives you more physical screen area than a 24-inch 1080p monitor, but not more pixels. At the same viewing distance, the image is less detailed. Decide whether the larger panel is worth that trade-off for your games and desk setup.

How to choose between 1080p and 1440p at 240Hz
- Choose 1080p if reaching very high frame rates is the priority or your graphics card is less powerful. The lower pixel count makes a 240 fps target easier to sustain than at 1440p, all else being equal.
- Choose 1440p if extra image detail matters and your PC can render your games at the frame rates you want. A 240Hz display cannot make a game render 240 frames per second by itself.
- Consider screen size alongside resolution. The Acer’s 27-inch 1080p image is less detailed per inch than a 24-inch 1080p image; the LG’s 27-inch 1440p panel provides more pixels.
What to check before buying
- Exact model suffix and mode: Verify the complete model number on the listing. For the G2524H, distinguish its native 240Hz mode from the optional 280Hz overclock.
- Ports, refresh rate, and VRR: Check which input supports the resolution and refresh rate you plan to use, and confirm VRR compatibility with your PC or console. The LG is listed with HDMI 2.1 bandwidth and VRR; console modes differ across models.
- Motion features: A 240Hz label alone does not describe motion clarity. Consider response behavior, input lag, and whether backlight strobing is useful to you. The XG2431’s customizable strobing is a distinctive feature, but its availability may be limited.
- Image expectations: Fast IPS monitors in this value-focused group can sacrifice contrast, black depth, color gamut, or HDR impact. A response-time claim or HDR label is not, by itself, proof of strong motion clarity or convincing HDR.
- Desk and mounting fit: Check the footprint, stand adjustment, and whether you need a VESA mount. Verify what accessories are included with the particular seller’s unit rather than assuming a cable or arm is needed.
- Total purchase terms: Compare delivered price, return policy, and warranty for the exact listing. Those terms and current stock were not established across sellers here.
