Set up Shortcut Cards and button shortcuts for faster access, download map resources before you leave, and treat straight-line return as a bearing aid—not a terrain-aware route. These five practical tips use the manufacturer’s documented paths; menu labels may vary with firmware or app versions, so check your current watch and Zepp app if a path differs.
1. Put frequently used information on Shortcut Cards
Shortcut Cards bring selected information within a swipe of the watch face. Swipe up from the watch face to view them. To choose cards and arrange their order, open the Zepp app and go to Profile > Amazfit T-Rex 3 Pro 44mm > Shortcut Cards.

Examples in Amazfit’s support documentation include the latest event, next alarm, and recent BPM data. Choose cards you actually check often; the point is to see useful information without searching through the watch’s menus. Amazfit’s model-specific shortcut instructions describe the setup.
2. Assign a frequently used app to a shortcut button
If you repeatedly open the same app, assigning it to a shortcut button can reduce menu navigation. On the watch, open Watch > Settings > Preferences > Shortcut Buttons, then select an app for an available button action.

The documented triggers include long press SEL, press SEL, long press UP, long press Down, and double press BACK. The available assignment depends on the listed button actions; this does not mean every app can be assigned to every trigger. See Amazfit’s shortcut-button instructions if your watch’s options differ.
3. Download map resources before you head out
Prepare maps while you have a reliable connection rather than waiting until you need them on a trip. The watch can connect to Wi-Fi, or map resources can be downloaded over Bluetooth. In Zepp, open Profile > Amazfit T-Rex 3 Pro 44mm > Device App settings > Map, select a download area, add it to the download list, and confirm the download on the watch.

Map preparation involves both the phone app and the watch. Allow time for the transfer to complete before leaving. Amazfit documents the process in its map and navigation guide.

Create an offline round-trip route
On the watch, open Map app > SEL > Navigation > Create Round-Trip Route. Choose the distance, direction, and workout type to create the route.

Save a location from the map
Tap a map location to view its coordinates, then choose whether to save it or navigate to it. This gives you a way to mark a destination from the map rather than relying on memory.
Start navigation for a saved track
For supported outdoor activities, open Workout mode > Navigation > My Route/My location, select a track, and choose Start Navigation. Turn-by-turn reminders are available for some outdoor activities, not necessarily every workout. The official navigation instructions describe the watch’s route options.

5. Treat straight-line return as a bearing aid, not a route planner
Amazfit warns that its straight-line return route is drawn from GPS location points. It cannot determine whether terrain between those points is impassable, including mountains, rivers, canyons, or buildings. A line pointing toward a starting location is therefore not proof that the direct path is safe or traversable.

Use route navigation and its turn reminders when they are available for your activity, and make your own decisions about terrain and obstacles. The limitation is stated in Amazfit’s map and navigation documentation.

Keep phone app notifications connected
App alerts on the watch depend on its connection to the phone. To choose which app alerts Zepp sends, open Profile > Amazfit T-Rex 3 Pro 44mm > Notifications and Reminders > App Notifications.
On Android, background restrictions can stop Zepp from running. Amazfit says Zepp may need to be added to the phone’s allowlist or auto-run list; if the phone terminates the app, the watch disconnects and app alerts stop. The exact setting names vary by phone maker. Consult Amazfit’s notification guidance alongside your phone’s background-app controls.
Pair through Zepp, not the phone’s Bluetooth menu
For initial setup, install Zepp, sign in, and follow the app’s pairing prompt. The global manual specifies Android 7.0 or later and iOS 15.0 or later, and says not to pair the watch directly from the phone’s Bluetooth settings.
