To capture an entire webpage—including content below the visible screen—use your browser’s full-page screenshot feature. Chrome provides it through DevTools, Firefox offers both a simple page menu and a DevTools route, and Edge may offer it under Screenshot or Web Capture. The available steps below cover those four paths; labels can vary by browser version.
What a full-page screenshot captures
A full-page screenshot saves the webpage beyond the part currently visible in the browser window. It is different from a regular screenshot, which captures only the viewport. The steps below create an image; they do not print the page or save it as a PDF.

1. Capture a full page in Chrome with DevTools
- Open the webpage in Chrome.
- Open DevTools. You can use the browser’s developer-tools menu or its keyboard shortcut.
- Open the DevTools Command Menu with Ctrl+Shift+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+P on Mac.
- Search for screenshot and choose the full-page capture command, commonly labeled Capture full size screenshot.
Chrome’s DevTools includes this capture workflow, so no extension is required. The command wording may change in later versions; search the Command Menu for “screenshot” if the label differs. Chrome DevTools Command Menu documentation
2. Use Firefox’s page screenshot menu
- Open the page in Firefox.
- Right-click an empty area of the page, or Control-click on Mac, and select Take Screenshot. You can also press Ctrl+Shift+S on Windows or Linux, or Command+Shift+S on Mac.
- Choose Save full page.
- Select Download to save a PNG in Firefox’s usual download location, or Copy to put the screenshot on your clipboard for pasting into another app.
Choose Save visible instead if you only want the currently visible viewport. Mozilla’s help article, updated recently and listing Firefox versions through 154 as of October 2026, describes these controls. Firefox screenshots

3. Use Firefox DevTools for a full-page capture
This route is useful if you prefer a DevTools button or want command-line-style capture options.
Enable the screenshot button
- Open Firefox DevTools and select Settings.
- Under Available Toolbox Buttons, enable Take a screenshot of the entire page.
- Use the screenshot button that appears in the DevTools toolbar.
Use the Web Console helper
In the Firefox Web Console, enter:
:screenshot --fullpage
Firefox’s screenshot helper also supports options for a delay, filename, clipboard, and device-pixel ratio. Consult Mozilla’s current DevTools guide for the accepted syntax and options, since they are more detailed than the basic full-page command. Firefox Web Console helpers

4. Capture a full page in Microsoft Edge
- Open the page in Edge.
- Open the three-dot menu and look for Screenshot or Web Capture. You may also be able to open the capture interface with Edge’s screenshot shortcut.
- Choose Capture full page if that option is available, then save the result.
Edge’s label and feature availability have changed across versions. Microsoft-hosted community reports document the full-page option, but do not establish one stable menu path for every current installation. If you do not see the option, check Edge’s current menu and help resources rather than assuming your page or browser is broken. Microsoft Edge community discussion
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsWhich method should you choose?
| Method | Ease of use | DevTools required | Output and flexibility |
|---|---|---|---|
| Firefox page menu | Simplest documented route | No | Save a PNG or copy to clipboard |
| Chrome Command Menu | Requires opening DevTools and finding a command | Yes | Full-size screenshot command; wording can vary |
| Firefox DevTools | Best for a developer-oriented workflow | Yes | Button or console helper; supports delay, filename, clipboard, and device-pixel-ratio options |
| Edge Screenshot/Web Capture | Depends on current version and label | No | Full-page option when available; interface and behavior may differ |
When the capture is missing content or the option is absent
- You only got the visible screen: choose the full-page option, not a visible-area or regular screenshot command.
- The Edge menu name differs: look for either Screenshot or Web Capture; community reports indicate names and availability vary.
- Part of a page looks incomplete: dynamic pages may load content as you scroll or after a delay. A browser capture may not include content that has not loaded yet; let the page settle and try again.
- You need a direct clipboard paste: use Firefox’s page screenshot interface and select Copy, rather than Download.
- You need a PDF rather than an image: these steps are for screenshots. A PDF is a different output and should not be treated as a full-page image.
Or skip the browser setup
ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. Its one-call API can return a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. Cookie banners, known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets are removed before capture; bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed. Its MCP server lets AI agents use take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf.
