NVIDIA’s release history documents bugs affecting game filters, in-game overlay access, driver downloads and rollbacks, and recording or screenshot settings. These are four documented problem areas—not a ranking of the app’s worst issues or evidence that most users experienced them. NVIDIA’s notes describe particular fixes and conditions, but do not quantify how often the problems occurred.
NVIDIA presents its app as a unified control center for driver updates, game and program settings, the in-game overlay, recording, performance monitoring, and filters. Its release highlights record defects and fixes across those features. The examples below are limited to what NVIDIA documented; a listed bug should not be read as a claim that the feature fails on every system.

1. Game filters stopped working in some games
NVIDIA’s release history includes an issue where filters stopped working in named games, followed by a release that fixed it. The notes also record a change that made Game Filter default to off. That default behavior can look like a malfunction if a user expects filters to be enabled automatically, but it is distinct from the documented game-specific failure.

2. The in-game overlay was inaccessible in a specific configuration
NVIDIA listed a fix for a bug that made the in-game overlay inaccessible on GeForce RTX 5070. This is a documented GPU-specific example, not evidence that the NVIDIA App overlay fails across all graphics cards or games.
Driver release information also lists game- and driver-specific compatibility issues. If the NVIDIA App overlay is not working, compare the affected game and driver version with NVIDIA’s driver release information, as well as the app’s release highlights. A compatibility note for one configuration does not establish a universal overlay problem.

3. Driver downloads and rollbacks had documented defects
NVIDIA’s app history records a fix for a driver download that could not be completed. It also records a rollback problem that occurred after changing the app’s language setting. Those notes confirm that the two behaviors were addressed, but do not say that all driver downloads or rollbacks were affected.

For an NVIDIA App driver download failed error, check NVIDIA’s current release notes and driver information for a matching version or compatibility issue before concluding the app has a general download fault. For a rollback problem, note whether the language setting was changed, since that was part of the documented condition. The records do not establish that this condition explains other rollback failures.

4. Recording and capture settings did not always behave as expected
NVIDIA’s release history lists fixes involving an unsaved recording bitrate setting, microphone capture, the Instant Replay save location, and the screenshot location. These examples concern different parts of capture, but each is a specific recorded defect—not a measure of how common recording failures were.
If an NVIDIA App recording is not saving where expected, verify the current save-location setting and check the release notes for your app version. If a microphone is missing or a bitrate change does not persist, compare that symptom with NVIDIA’s listed fixes rather than assuming all recording features are affected.

NVIDIA also says AV1 recording in Record, Instant Replay, and Highlights offers up to 40% compression efficiency relative to H.264. That is a feature statement in the release history, not a reliability statistic or evidence about the frequency of capture bugs.
How to assess an NVIDIA App problem
Release notes are most useful when read with the conditions attached to each entry. Match the symptom to the app version, GPU, game, driver, and configuration NVIDIA names; then check whether a later release lists a fix. NVIDIA’s public records reviewed here do not provide user-impact rates, bug frequency, or an aggregate performance impact, so they cannot support a ranking of these issues by severity or prevalence.
